Thank you, professor, for this valuable information. i have a one question, I want to restrain an RC beam for a different end stiffness value. What type of connector will I use?
Thank you Doctor for the very informative lecture! Please, would it be possible to make a lecture about the bond-slip between concrete and steel bars using translators instead of cohesive elements? There are many articles indicating the effectiveness of translators over the cohesive elements in the bond-slip behavior. Thanks again!!
Hi, I'm also working on the bond-slip problem betwwen concrete and steel bars. I think you can use SPRING elements by assigning a large stiffness on normal directions. I modelled a pull out test and it seems to be good. On the other hand, I'm quite interested in using cohesive elements, could you please kindly offer some papers on this?
Informative content. Thanks, Professor. I have a question: I am using a spring model to model bolted connections between two plates under combined loading. How to define a non-linear spring behavior by specifying force-relative displacement values in Abaqus CAE? Abaqus Analysis User's Guide says that it is only possible to model it through Input file Usage rather than Abaqus CAE usage. I have done all my modeling and meshing in CAE mode and I am now struggling to switch to Input file mode. Kindly help me. Thanks in advance.
Indeed, some items can only be done with input file editing. Use the linear spring in CAE, create your job, write the input file and then use a large file editor (I like CrimsonEditor). Search for your linear spring and replace it with the nonlinear spring parameters. You will have to read the manual to know what to replace it with. One of my other videos shows how to edit the input file in general, but I forget which one at the moment. Happy computing!
Thanks, Professor. I noticed that everybody is talking about generating wire to define a connector. What if the two wires represented here by the beam are in contact with each other, i.e. have a shared node (wire length=0). Can you use that node as a connector point?
I think it that case you want to investigate general multi-purpose constraints (MPC). That said, there may be other connector options that could work. It has been a while since I have looked into it.
Sorry, I won't have time in the foreseeable future to look at translators in more detail. You might want to look at cohesive elements for that application though.
Hi--you can use connectors to connect two rigid bodies. In this case the motion does not have to be specified solely by the rigid body reference node. I will refer you to the manual--there is a nice example with rigid gears that highlight several connector options.

Thank you. I've not worked on that problem, though, so I'm afraid I do not have insight into that issue.

@@mbarkey.mechanics Professor, thanks for your insight. I will look into it.
hi pro can you help me, how to define bond slip between concrete and renforcement using translator?

Dear Sir.
I have a question that : how can I contact two rigidbody ?
