You can get the auto octane tune which allows you to run any gasoline 87+, but the dedicated 93 tune will give you a little extra power. I've never ran auto octane myself, I use 93 and sometimes I run E50 but I haven't seen anyone complain about any of his tunes. I started with Livernois Motorsports and after about a year I switched to ZFG once I started adding more parts and hearing their name all over the explorer ST community and I'm glad I made the switch.

stock for stock the 3.0 has alot more power than the 5.7, had the 5 star 91 tune on my '22 ST and it was quick, didnt look like the R/T was bothering, they arent that fast. But id take my 392 Durango over my 22 ST every day of the week... might even consider the 5.7 with the exhaust note from the ST being what it is.
Mine has almost double the power, 2 more gears to stay in peak power better, and I'm about 500lbs lighter. We did 2 pulls, I honked off the first one and they counted off the second so I'm sure they were as ready as they could have been.
@@BlackSheepRacing88 SRTs will have 392 on the side not "Hemi", they will also have the SRT badge upfront not the Dodge with the // hashmarks. They will also have a different wheel and tire setup, almost positive that is an R/T. I work at a Ford / CDJR Dealership and have wanted an SRT Durango for some time...price tells me otherwise ;)

My ST is far from stock or the durango would have at least hung in the frame a few more seconds lol. Stock the F150 5.0 would run a mid to high 14 at 95ish MPH depending on which rear end it has, the ST stock runs a mid 13 at just over 100MPH. I would say your buddy probably isn't preboosting and maybe not in sport mode so the trans is shifting too early and soft. With just an E50 tune from ZFG Racing that ST would pull on 5.0L mustangs.
They pointed to go when I started the 3 honks then the passenger did a count to three the second roll so I would assume he was going lol. We were around 60MPH when we started both times.
I have a R/T and ran against a Ford ST and I won both. Now I do half to say it wasn't a blow out and a very close race. In my opinion it's all about the driver and know when to shift .
Honestly, I'm not one to discourage anyone else in the car scene, but facts are facts. The ST has a bump in horsepower and torque over the R/T, on top of it being 600lbs lighter and has 2 more gears to play with keeping it in peak power more often. A quick Google search shows the ST is over 2 seconds faster in the quarter mile and many mainstream journalists opt to compare it to the 392 version as it's a closer competitor. Both vehicles being offered as automatic only should eliminate the shifting skill of the drivers. Either that ST you raced wasn't racing or doesn't know how to drive a car. As for my video, I'm running with hellcat Durango's on my current setup. This is a similar depiction of what an R/T running a hellcat would look like.
@@jessbekobegaming All real ST's are the same engine. The ST-line is a base model with some ST cosmetics. The ST-line is a 2.3L turbo 4 cylinder. Real ST's have the badge in the grill and ST-line has it on the fender. The ST is electronically limited because of the speed rating on the tires, trust me they go over 160MPH once a tuner disables the limiter. If number of cylinders mattered so much then why does the GTR regularly smoke V8/10/12 cars so often?
There's nothing like seeing a couple of Brady Bunch station wagons duke it out on the highway. At least a Vista cruiser came with 455 cid, cool double notch moon roof, true duals, and a 4brl that sucked the hood in. Yep, Taco Bell is the place and happy, happy joy joy. At least toilet paper was free for cussing in the movie.
Not sure what half of this said, but my Brady bunch station wagon takes down most modern muscle cars with little effort. It also has a dual pane sunroof and true duals and my little V6 makes double the power a 455 from the 70s does.
I have multiple videos running scat pack and srt8's, even giving them the hit most of the time. And all except my most recent scat pack race are all on 93 octane. I'm still stock turbos, trans, fuel system.

@@fordflexking2014 r/t is pretty much going to be toast against most v8's, and newer forced induction v6's that make similar power....they usually need extensive work like cams, tunes, and weight reduction to even the odds against similar competition...i also believe even a 4.6 v8 genesis with similar hp/tq is also quicker than the whole r/t lineup, even the challys, and chargers..
There both fast 🤔 but as a professional truck driver I can not speed like that I have a clean record so I won't be getting the ST. If anything A 392 5.7 V8. I had a V8 98 Durango and it was faster than the one I have now🤔. 3.6 it's a basic car. I miss my Sonic LT 1.4 36 miles a gal.

I agree but I've only found 1 trackhawk in this area and with 3 wide open lanes they wouldn't go. Plus the durango passenger challenged me so I couldn't say no lol. I gotta take what I can get when most of what I see is V6 muscle cars and tons of nissan/Infiniti VQ's.

That would be impressive but I think the current record is mid 10's so a demon would be a stretch until aftermarket support expands more for the ST platform. Luckily it seems to be starting to take off and I've seen a pretty big expansion in aftermarket support the last 18 months.

The ST is about a half second quicker than a charger RT stock vs stock. With some minor boltons and a fuel change and tune my ST now beats hellcat chargers down the quarter mile.
@@BlackSheepRacing88 the RT trim is pretty laid back from the factory compared to the 392 Durango. As far as potential goes the 5.7 Hemi V8 has far more than a tiny Ecoboost v6. The Durango has a very muscular appearance compared to the Ford explorer which is known to be a well-selling soccer mom midsize SUV or a cop car. Nobody mistakes the Durango for either a cop car or a soccer mom suv. I know Ford doesn't give you guys V8 options, luckily for you the RT and SRT Durango's are still around if you want to ditch the V6 and have awesome V8 power.
I have a friend with a challenger RT that spent $40k to keep up with hellcats. I do that now on $10k. I put 550HP to the wheels and still run stock turbos and fuel system. This platform is far from maxed out. I wish you would do more research before commenting. How many durangos with a 5.7 are in the 10s? There's multiple explorers already there. And BTW the durango is used as a cop car and is frequently seen driven by suburban moms as well.

I'm sure there is people out there that have got their RT Durango to hit ten's. If someone is going to be really competitive with a performance SUV they're going to go with the SRT trim which I've seen do unbelievable things. I have personally never seen a Dodge Durango cop car and I certainly don't see more soccer moms driving a V8 Durango over Ford's 4 and 6 cylinder explorers.
I'm still sitting $10k cheaper vehicle and mods than a stock SRT durango and I run hellcat times so I'm happy with that. I'm not looking for 1000+HP out of my family car/daily driver so I don't need a ton of room to grow much more than where I'm at with this thing, plus I still get over 24MPG when I cruise.
Yeah, takes a pro driver to push the accelerator down on the count of three lol. The Durango with a professional driver has ran as fast as high 14s, the ST stock runs mid 13s. Mine with the current setup runs mid 11s. You could put John Force in that Durango and it would be the same outcome.
Mine isn't stock either. I can beat stock trackhawks down the quarter mile by a few tenths of a second so this is similar to how a hellcat would pull on an R/T.

@TboneSRT most of my videos are on my 93 octane tune. Now that I'm on E50 and have bigger intake and charge piping it's a whole other level. Moving back to TX at the end of this month so more racing will be happening for sure.
@TboneSRT on 93 that should be good for a 12.0ish 1/4 mile. My best so far is 11.2 still on stock turbos. Trans is coming next then turbo upgrade. I'll be happy with it when it breaks into the 10's for a daily, then I'll start a project car shooting to break 1000HP lol.

My 5.0 is pretty light (XL STX) and a supercab. Typically runs a 13.9 1/4 mile. The 14.4 quoted by Car and Driver is a Platinum so quite a bit heavier

My best 1/4 mile is 11.68 which puts me in hellcat territory. I'd love to find a hellcat durango at the track and get a good fair run on camera.

The RT was just driving down the road wasn't racing. My RT will get up and go don't know if it's faster but it definitely isn't that slow.

True. Stock for stock the SRT 392 will pull the ST slightly but with my current mods I'm neck and neck with a hellcat/trackhawk.
