This 2021 Volvo V90 Is Almost Perfect Except For A Couple Of Things - T6 AWD Inscription Review

  • The Volvo V90 gets a not so subtle facelift (for Volvo's standards) for the 2021 model year, and I don't like it very much. However, everything else about this Volvo is pretty fantastic. I love the digital displays and the impressive set of safety features found in this T6 AWD Inscription model. The 2.0 liter twincharged four cylinder happens to be a hoot to drive as well.

    Great vid!! Thanks for putting these together. I know it’s a labor of love. I love Volvo wagons. Will likely end up with the V60 CC in either Osmium Gray or White. What are your thoughts on color?
    For the quiz, here are my thoughts (minus trim levels but years would be between 2019-2021):
    1. V90 2. XC40 3. V60 CC 4. XC60 5. XC90

    • @ShiftingLanes
      @ShiftingLanes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      CORRECT!! You nailed the quiz!
      The V60CC we tested in our video was in Crystal white metallic. It was a good color, but I’d personally go with Osmium Grey. I think it will blend the blacked out CC trim a bit better than the white.
      Denim blue and fusion red are also great choices.

    I have the V90 and it is the most comfortable car I ever had. It is not the fastest, far from it, but a pleasure to drive. Love the heated windscreen and seat/steering wheel in a cold morning! Also Volvo on-call..nice app

      @Stimpy&Ren Cat that's why bowers and Wilkins or Harman Kardan sound system are good, they cancel all the noise! It's noisy if kickdown but I guess all cars are, one more than others. Also I do think that there significant differences between trims. I drive a momentum plus with smaller rims. If you go with r-design it won't be as comfortable.
      I never go at the back but my kids don't complain, actually they find kinda cool having integrated booster seats.
      In regards to the infotainment, I get it but I still don't understand why you buy a car because of the infotainment or why you get upset because it lags. A car is to be driven not play around.

    As a Volvo fan i would say the same thing. The interior its pure beauty but looks almost the same in all models. They should make some specific changes inside for each model to feel the difference from model to model.

    You mention that the infotainment screen is used a lot and cite the seat heater as example. I set all the interior climate through voice commands including turning on/off up/down the steering wheel and seat heating as well as the cabin temp. I find reviewers leave out voice control in their reviews. IDK why. I have a 2017 and know it is possible that the functionality of the voice command has changed. Thanks for the review.

    I have a v90CC for 5 year now. I love it. simply love it. I live in Romania the roads are not that god here...plus I go to the mountains a lot on trips. Snow, mud, ice, name it! the car can deals with all perfect then monday you have an elegant car. great with the kids,.a lot, a lot, i mean a lot of detailes for them. The kids are kind of grown now but is like i want another kid for those kids accessories to be used... man. . If the CC version it would have come in a plug in hybrid it would have been the best car ever. No matter the price. i need the hight. CX 90 recharge is too big, cx 60 recharge is too small. V90cc is just perfect it provide the benefits of SUV and it drives like a sedan on highway. And the bowers & wilkins is literally better the any other audio system i ever listen.I'm an audiophile

    I am currently drivng a 2020 V90 and very happy. This car has no issues at all and the experience is excellent. Before the V90 I had a 2016 V70 without any issues at all. I cannot follow the quality complaints. It is the only wagon suitable for a family with 3 children: No other wagon (Mercedes, BMW, etc.) has full seats for 3 in the second row.

      I don't know about Audi, but in other cars, you can manualy activate either the left or right light front and back as a parking light, if you are parked on a dark street or road.
      Usualy it's actived by flipping the shifter-arm up or down, when the engine is off.

    The V90 CC is apparently coming back to Canada, in 2022, after leaving for 2021... hopefully that drops the CPO prices of older V90s, cause i want one something fierce... mercedes wagons and A4 Allroads are also available in canada, and frankly, i prefer their more knob/button based interior layouts, but they don't warranty their cars to 10 years...

  • @threesixty4486
    @threesixty4486 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Great video! Don't worry about driving it past warranty. Usually those minor bugs will be squashed in the software updates applied when you bring it in for maintenance. For me the V90 looks like a boat on wheels, the V60 is much more balanced and will be the successor of my old trusty D6 in a year or so.

    It's not like on german cars that if you leave the turn indicator on in one direction then the positionlights stays on on that side, some safety for parking along a road.

    • @nov2263
      @nov2263 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Volvo had that years ago. But they probably realized that If you aren't smart enough to turn a knob for parking lights you probably shouldn't drive. That feature was to preserve power by only turning on parking lights on one side, but today they're all LED and can stay on for days without draining the battery.

    Why does Volvo force people into leather interiors on higher trims?
    High quality cloth is far better than any leather and a cloth seat does not need to be ventilated.
    Same for glass roofs and orange trim.

    • @benjaminsmith2287
      @benjaminsmith2287 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's likely what most customers want. But Volvo announced it's going leather free in any new vehicle from the C40 on. When the v90/s90/xc90/s60 and other current Volvos are replaced with the new electric models, they won't have leather seats anymore.

    I've been a Volvo driver for over 25 years, but sadly I have to say that the Sensus System, whilst very whiz bang, has simply taken "safe" driving out of the key features that you would attribute to Volvo. Unlike on the previous steering wheel centric controls where you could access almost all features combined to the tactile controls of the older models, the Sensus requires you to take your eyes off the road to access features on the display. Not good. I understand that I'll be in a minority, but for a car company centred around safety this strikes me as obtuse. By comparison to BMW, Audi, Mercedes the Volvo is better but unfortunately I think it has taken a step backward.
    Shame.

    • @leesmith3448

      Or you can voice control pretty much everything you need to while driving by simply pressing a button on the steering wheel and no need to take your eyes off the road.

    The removal of the exhaust tips is not surprising, exhaust will be pointless once they transition to electric and most of them on modern cars are fake anyway. So this way you prep people for the look of future electrics and stop lying to them in the present.
