- Andy and others sparked a lively debate in one of my other videos comment section...the debate raged back and forth on the true cost of a turbo upgrade for this wonderful car...now in full color I discuss the nuts and bolts of the TRUE COST of a turbo upgrade for a Fiesta ST.
The Fiesta ST is a fantastic car out of the box, but while quick it is still slow. A turbo upgrade remedies that problem making it an efficient but pretty speedy pocket rocket.
Keep in mind before you rant and rage that:
- this is my .02, if you don't like it go make your own video and share your great thoughts on the subject...
- variable of new vs. used parts will change prices...
- variable of free self-install vs. paid labor install will change prices...
- variable of quality vs. crap parts will change prices...

Bottom line, a turbo upgrade done right according to me should cost you between $4615 and $7000.

i get what he's saying but cars are my life. ive made huge sacrifices and adjustments in my life to be able to pursue a life obsessed with cars.
man it still baffles me how crazy cheap this car is. i had a 2012 scion tc that i boosted (330whp) and $7000 was basically my starting point (with mostly used parts). i ended up spending about 12k at the end of the day. sadly the car burned down but the insurance paid me 12k for the loss. thanks for the write up these sorts of videos are super helpful for the community.

also you said you dont believe in aftermarket charge pipes, but the stock hot side has a resonator “donut” that restricts airflow for the sake of sound dampening. open that airflow up1 Whoosh pipe is like $80 i believe
Once again I'm in agreement with you. Didn't realize how much debate that would create! I was just thinking about this today before seeing your video; but in a different sense: A modified Fiesta ST with the difference in price between a new Focus ST makes for a much better car than a Focus ST. And if you were gonna spend more on a Fiesta that would get you into a price range above a Focus ST, it would probably just make more sense to go after a Golf R/STI/RS. That's my opinion and that's how i've chosen to build my Fiesta. Most of the parts on mine are pretty much that same you have on yours Jeff and its just a great car for what it is.

This car is fun and a decent enough hobby but if it rolled off a cliff tomorrow it wouldn't bother me much, I actually have a 1998 Civic beater that I probably enjoy just as much as this car. It is fun but it is not what I know you are living for... like myself they are good things that we can enjoy by God’s grace- but these too will rust and fall away. Yeah no FB for me either but I enjoy fiestastforum.com, it's a pretty decent forum, lots of repeated info over the years but nonetheless a good knowledge base with some decent guys contributing. I've gotten a number of good used parts there and also made a few friends I've ended up hanging out with in real life which as been cool.

My particular turbo isn't in production any more, but Whoosh makes a hybrid that is comparable, also similar is the S280. Search and you'll find plenty of info, both are about the same price as mine was new.

Such great wisdom here. Have you ever bought any of their parts? Make your video. My Pumaspeed parts have lasted 4+ years with zero issues at 300+whp.
What do you think about the Whoosh Hybrid turbo on Tune +?
Everything I've read is good...it's about the same as the X47, maybe a very small improvement but not noticeable...power numbers are identical...I will say I'm not happy with the advertising, I followed that product from inception to release and there was some major BS going on with power claims and numbers and etc. Don't believe everything you hear. But since it's plug and play (install) it is a great option. Just not all it's hyped to be, but a good option for sure. If my turbo blew I'd strongly consider it as a replacement.
gray25xt yeh I feel it, I really appreciate you responding. I have a lil Fist with a FMIC, CAI, and an exhaust and tuned by Adam. Love it but def want a lil more power while staying reasonably reliable. You’ve pretty much gone the best route with yours, love the wheels and simple look too
How difficult was installing the 6-point brace?
Not bad at all 45 minutes. The thing is you have to get the entire car suspended, either 4 jack stands or a lift, otherwise thing will be cocked and not line up. It can be done other ways but you're going to be cursing the day you were born. I put it on 2 sets of jack stands, the bar went right on.
