    Amazingly educative video! Awesome collaboration with Mr. DHM himself did not expect that.

      Kermell Huertas Thank you! Russ Aka Mr. DHM will be showing his face again in some upcoming videos when the engine is out back together.

    only three minutes in...goddamn that is a well-maintained and clean facility. EDIT: Thanks for the vid. So awesome.

      Christophe Jergales unfortunately Russ built shit and pretty much all his engines broke, including this man's.

    never been a big fan of music when it comes to taking an engine apart, i would rather have input as to what's going on.

      al dee I'd rather have silence. Now I have to endure this music at the lowest volume so I don't miss what's going on when they cut back in front the disassembly montage

    Didn't expect to see Ford still using a timing belt. I figured all the modern stuff these days would be using chains. It's not really a huge disadvantage, just interesting.

    If you don't mind me asking what was the total cost once put back together for his services? Im curious because i am contemplating buying a fiesta and have been setting money aside for a proper build, when the time comes.

    Considering the current known issues with earlier heads, do you think this was a contribution to the wear seen here?

    Hi T-shirt driving.
    I have the exactly problem to my 2014 Fiesta ST. And I think I have suffered the LSPI in it. My Cylinder got misfire and lost of compression. I would like to know if you have to replace a new cylinder block or you just use the old one. Since I saw you have some scratch on your cylinder 3 bore. Thanks

    • @TShirtDriving
      @TShirtDriving  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Every engine will be different. In my case, I was able to reuse the block and had the Pistons bored out slightly with the new Pistons. No sleeving needed as there was no catastrophic failure.

    • @wilsonwong8560
      @wilsonwong8560 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TShirtDriving Thanks for reply, what piston did you use for new installation ? I notice there are some +0.25mm or +0.5mm piston to buy with

    • @TShirtDriving
      @TShirtDriving  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wilsonwong8560 they were custom DHM Pistons made by Diamond piston. They are no long made. And only 3 or 4 sets were made. I can't remember the the specs from such a long time ago.

    seems to me the ring tolerance was to tight and tried to overlap itself. can't really tell for sure by a vid tho.. any thoughts?

    • @TShirtDriving
      @TShirtDriving  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well the piston and rings are OEM which are known to be flexible but brittle. Either way can't go wrong with new forged internals. If you haven't yet check out the second video to get a better close up of the piston.

    What caused the cracked piston?

    • @TShirtDriving
      @TShirtDriving  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      FiestaST180 We concluded it failed due to heat. Not from overheating but from constant abuse on track. more details on the piston and failure on the next video.

    • @KaliLA323
      @KaliLA323 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      TShirt Driving Maybe it was the heat created by the Race Fuel tune you were getting? After all you were on your stock fuel system. Probably went lean, created too much heat, and boom cracked that piston. They dont call Russ Mr. Lean for nothing. Just my 2 cents

    • @TShirtDriving
      @TShirtDriving  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      KaliLA323 I am also the only one with such a low power level to have something like this happen. The second part will be up at 8 am today. So everyone can see more on what happened to the whole piston

      TShirt Driving Man, you are so lucky to be able to work with a pro tuner to build out your engine, no matter what the business advantages are for him. I'm mostly street use and use both Tune+ and Stratified... I hope I don't have a problem after I go BT. Thanks for uploading all the vids man, as a tuned FiST owner, loving your channel. 👍

      Ford changed the head sometime in 2016. There was a hotspot causing failures in some of the early cars.

    CAN ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME IF A 2003 FORD FOCUS SE, 2.0 DOHC ZETEC VIN 3 MOTOR, DOES IT 'NEED' THE USE OF A 'TORQUE PLATE' TO KEEP THE PISTON CYLINDER FROM DISTORTING & BECOMING OBLONG WHEN THE HEAD & HEAD BOLTS, ARE NOT ON & TORQUED DOWN? A TORQUE PLATE IS JUST A ALLUMINIUM PLATE PUT ON IN PLACE OF THE HEAD SO IT CAN BE TORQUED DOWN & BORED OUT WITH THE TORQUE PLATE IN PLACE OF THE HEAD & HEAD BOLTS TENTIONED DOWN???CAN ANYONE PLEASE TELL ME?????????

  • @rd946

    Just throw a Focus ST 2.0 in it...

    • @TShirtDriving
      @TShirtDriving  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mealyman 94 But they I'd have to deal with the head and that single port exhaust.

    • @rd946
      @rd946 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A properly done single exhaust in the Fiesta would not cause any issues, me thinks. We're only talking less than half a litre in displacement. It's no V8!

    • @TShirtDriving
      @TShirtDriving  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mealyman 94 regardless the goal of the build is to keep things California legal. Otherwise I could go with a real big turbo and put out over 400whp. But there are always what ifs. I'll be happy with a reliable 320whp
