    I was riding my X300 down the freeway in Tacoma, WA a few months back. Was in the second lane, and a guy in a truck looked me in the eye from the lane next to me, and just slowly pulled into my lane. Clearly just challenging me to hold my position. He wanted my lane, and had no intention of being denied. If I had a GoPro, I probably would have reported it. Who am I kidding? Washington doesn't care.

    There is a drain bolt for the counter balancer in the front. The main drain is a plate with 2 bolts. Up inside there is a screen filter that can be pulled out with a small plyer. Royal Enfield has tutorials on TH-cam for oil changes and other maintenance stuff. Might be on the Meteor or Classic, but it is the same engine.

    If your water bill jumped that much from your irrigation, I would advise look at your system zone by zone and make sure you do not have a broken head or line leak that would overuse during that zone operating time. Water guys use gallons per minute and it does not take long for a good leak on a 3/4 pipe to add up. 1 gallon per minute x 1440 min in a day x 30 days in a month is 43,200 gal. Also take a look at your bill. There is usually a flat rate per month up to a certain amount of usage, with added charges that progressively escalate in 1,000 gal increments. Check for a leaky toilet as well, those can use 200 extra gallons a day easy. Love the channel. Considering the Trail 125

    20:59 Quasi, I recently jumped from HEB to Fastenal, and they do now allow people to come in.. or they are in the process of transitioning to let people back in.

    More and more I see vids on this bike more and more I want it.
    My choices, Grom, CT125, Meteor or the Hunter. Had a Grom before, love the CT125 but the Hunter and Meteor are a lot of bike for the money.
    The shifting of the RE makes me want one, had issues with my Grom and CB300R. None with the FZ09, issues with the FZ09 was too much bike for my needs. Was always going too fast 😂

    I go to the SH national forest on the BV400 fairly often. I take 149 from Anderson all the way in, and ride around in there (on each side of I45, over in New Waverly and etc.). Its about 40 miles from where I am, so I want to take the super cub in there next, once I get a good seat modification.... When it cools off, I may try something more ambitious like trying to camp or take a hike on one of the trails....

    You make enjoyable vids.
    Regarding a rear carrier rack the best qualiry that I've seen are the Givi, available from Hitchcocks in the Uk.
    When doing your valve clearances ;
    The fuel tank connector is a tight fit First depress the locking tabs at the base, then push the connector up slightly, th e n , pull back down and off. (This helps clear the detent)
    Similar with the fuel line, disconnect at the injector end by depress the 2tabs , push in slightly, then pull off .
    You can move the crank by turning the rear wheel whilst the bike is in gear.
    Before you remove the rocker cover make sure the piston is backed off TDC. as the top of the rocker arm can foul one of the inner ribs on the rocker cover.
    After removing the rocker cover place the piston back to TDC., Then do your clearances at TDC.
    When you remove the rocker cover gently remove th e gasket .Beneath the small removable cover on the left side of the engine the gasket is stuck n place with a sealant so gently ease it out with a blunt implement .you can reuse the gasket dry.
    To keep the gasket in place when refitting, use a few dabs of grease in the rocker cover recess to hold it in place
    Get somebody to hold the tank when you refit and be careful to not trap the drain hoses under the tank.
    Good luck ..Mike

      Howdy, Mike, and thanks for the feedback and the tips! I just finished the 300-mile service a couple of days ago. It was a snap, and it only took me about an hour to complete (2.5 hrs with video and stopping to illustrate things). I managed to get some good camera angles of the underside of the tank where the fittings and drain hoses are located. Hopefully, those will present well on video for other owners to reference during their first time through.
      The valves were close to spec on this inspection. The intake was about 0.001" (0.02mm) loose, and the exhaust was 0.001" (0.02mm) tight. I reset the intake to factory spec (0.08mm) and set the exhaust a bit loose (0.20mm) to give it some room as it beds-in. I plan to pull the cover and check them again at around 1500-2000 miles.
      I'll be sure to check out the Givi rear rack. I'm waiting to hear back from Auto Engina (India) about shipping to the USA. They have some very nice products (and prices) for the Hunter, including an engine guard and rear rack. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

      Good to hear that you completed your service without too much hassle.
      Some people struggle with it so a good vid on the process will be valuable.
      Regarding the rear rack,, I checked out a few but the Indian made racks looked poor quality. Many of them only bolted in under the frame where the grab handles are fitted.
      The Givi rack uses those same fixings , plus it also bolts to the main frame in front of the shocks , giving a far stronger fixing .
      The Givi was extremely well made , powder coated and all the brackets and holes line up.
      The only down side is the Givi is more expense and you have to purchase the mounting plate as a separate item.
      Still, you get what you pay for!
      All the best, Mike

    26:43 setup fees are the most bs fees from dealerships. Hardware stores don't have any "setup" fees for their mowers and the ones i had to deal with at minimum require breaking down the wooden crate and putting the steering wheel and connect the battery. Some need the seat put on also. The zero turns need the handles and the seat connected. walmart doesn't have "setup" fees for their bikes and they usually have longer setup procedures.

    I am trying to settle this in my mind...perhaps you can help? Is it correct to think of your new RE motorcycle purchase as an English bike, made in India, being ridden in America? I have enjoyed both Hunter videos you done so far. Congrats on the new bike!

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Yep, that sounds about right! In that respect, it's no different than my Honda Navi: an Indian-built Japanese bike, assembled in Mexico, and ridden in America.
      If you think that's scrambled, then just wait until I ride the Hunter to pick up Chinese food that's made in the USA, cooked by Vietnamese owners, and eaten by a family who is Dutch-German-Irish-Brazilian! Whew... I'm dizzy already! 🤣👍 --QM

    i know where i live if you call them and tell them you're about to fill a pool they ask how much is it and they don't change you for the sewer. oh and you talking about setting valves. i went to check mine on my trail today and i cant find any of my tools to set them. and i'm not bending any of my snap on or craftsmen tools to do it so i guess i need to buy some more. even my feeler gauges are gone. Get some calipers to measure the drain plug.

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep, that's the plan. I was hoping to find a definitive answer online so I could order the magnetic drain plug and have it ready for the first oil change.
      There's no such luck so far, so that'll need to be done later... maybe a dump and refill instead of waiting for the 3K service? 😉👍 --QM

    How are you overlaying the data on the video feed please?

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Howdy, Mike! The telemetry data for the heads-up display is recorded by my GoPro Hero11 camera (and my Garmin Zumo GPS when I'm riding with it). The gauge overlay is generated using a third-party program called Telemetry Overlay: goprotelemetryextractor.com/
      I stitch everything together with Adobe Premiere Pro to create the final videos. Creating the overlays is a lot of extra work, but I think the end results are worth the effort. Cheers! 😉👍 --QM

    I love cycling but would never want to put my life in the hands of someone behind the wheel of a 2-ton death machine. Luckily cyclists sometimes get bike paths, depending on how pedestrian-friendly your city is. A cardiologist from my city was killed near where I live in almost the same way on Sunday.

  • @BmanNL1
    @BmanNL1 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Are cyclists riding on the same road as the other traffic? That's crazy!
    These roads are also of poor quality, I must say.😮

    • @QuasiMotard
      @QuasiMotard  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Unfortunately, dedicated bicycle lanes are uncommon throughout most of the USA. The traffic laws here permit cyclists to use the same road lanes as traffic and, in some cases, use the full lane for "safety" reasons. Unsurprisingly, that doesn't increase safety for the cyclists because the cagers are so aggressive and territorial (or inattentive and reckless). It's not uncommon at all for cyclistst to be struck and killed by speeding or inattentive cagers, so riding on the streets is a risky proposition.
      To compound the insanity, Texas has very few sidewalks for pedestrian use. Throughout most of the Houston area and most larger cities in Texas, there are ZERO sidewalks so pedestrians must walk on the side of the roadway or in the grass/dirt/etc. Automobile vs pedestrian/bicycle accidents are very common and could be avoided if the infrastructure (and the politics) permitted an alternative.
      Dedicated bicycle/pedestrian lanes that are segregated from the roadway (preferably with high curbs or other barriers to prevent use by aggressive cagers) would greatly improve our mobility options here. Until that happens (probably never), we're forced to live in a transit situation where only the oversized cages can compete and survive. 😒 --QM

    • @BmanNL1
      @BmanNL1 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @QuasiMotard All the best with your recovery!
      That doesn't sound very safe at all. I live in the Netherlands and here for the most part fast and slow traffic is separated. If the speed limit is above 20 miles, then cars and bicycles have their own lanes and ow ntraffic lights.
      Sidewalks for pedestrians are also everywhere.
      If I would turn right or left I would not have to worry about bicycles or pedestrians going straight, they are all separated from each other.
      We Dutch cycle a lot and not just for recreational purposes but for everything, shopping or work or whatever. And it has nothing to do with social status or not being able to afford a motor vehicle.
      It goes without saying that big and small accidents happen here also, but for the most part I feel safe no matter if I use a motor vehicle or bicycle.
      And if our roads where like that with cracks and holes there would be an uprising here. 🤣

    • @QuasiMotard

      The standard-retro layout of this bike appeal to me. I already have two of the Honda CB500's in the stable (2013 CB500F and 2014 CB500X), so I wasn't interested in the new CL500 "scrambler" version. I've heard great things about the new generation of Royal Enfield bikes, so this little Hunter 350 struck a nostalgic nerve. 😉👍 --QM
