Overrated. They charge 100Rs for an extra slice of bread. If you want the regular omlette with toast and butter at 600Ra - this is the place. Quite dirty toilets as well.
They have really lost everything what they were known for in the past. Its sad to see a legendary place stoop to such levels over the years. Bad service, quality and Overpriced
I don’t stay in Bangalore anymore, but i do remember going to koshys, they have this old world, almost nostalgic charm to the place. The two times i have been there, the staff was neutral. I remember their scrambled eggs were good. Nice to see a video about this place pop up on my feed.
I love the place. It’s a mystery-go-to restaurant either my friends and guests who want the true British Bangalore feeling. I wish they retain the charm. All over the world we go to the authentic local hangout. This is that in the city. 👍
The best in India. When I wake up I have a reason to chill. Thats koshys. ❤ I have been to many cities in India. This is so vintage authentic and people who like flashy lights and item songs please don't visit. This is quite exquisite.
Indeed. There’s no place in this entire country like Koshy’s. It’s certainly not for everyone, and I’m glad it’s the way it is. I hope nothing changes about this place ever.
Vindaloo was pure bliss. Despite the warnings, I had a good experience. Like the ambience and was not expecting the waiters to pamper me. Or may be I went with very low expectations.
This is the only place in Bangalore that still feels like Bangalore. I can see a lot of hate in the comments, but it doesn’t matter. Thank you for keeping this precious jewel of a place alive and making us old timers feel at home. It’s my catcher in the rye, if you will. And the staff are like family and friends.
yeah keep appreciating bad business practices in the name of “gatekeeping a lost experience of the past”. So tell me, when did they forget something called HUMILITY as the times progressed?
Koshy is more than a restaurant but a meeting place where people from diverse walks of life forge friendships that last a lifetime. Prem koshy is the moving spirit behind the cafe who radiates warmth and great hospitality. The coffee remains my favorite with the chutney sandwich as a delicious accompaniment. Unlike the clinically efficient cafes that have mushroomed in Bangalore koshy cafe retains the pride of place as an iconic cultural centre where poets writers and eminent journalists found sanctuary over a cup of coffee. The cafe is my second home where i have found friends that remain my friends till today.
its shit rn, i visit here quite often to get some softdrinks on my way to the bustop post school, the place is quite unappetising with little to no customers at any point, the kulfi shop outside slaps tho ngl
I wonder why so many people have written negatively about this place. Seems like a mob has descended on this page. Most importantly, I’m disappointed that people have complained about the waiting staff, who have only been kind and polite. I would rate it seven stars, if I could.
I remember it used to be the place for Sunday post Church breakfast with Aapam and Ishtoo. Do they still serve it? Also Koshy's served a slice of cake to the Indian Army jawans on the Indian border, on Christmas day. Is the tradition still on?
This place is far from the culinary gem it's made out to be; Enough with the praise, this restaurant is a spectacle of underwhelming flavors and poor service.
Super hyped and overrated. One of fbe worst restaurants in Bangaluru. Most people love to hang on to nostalgia dilusions and blindly say any thing old is good.
I hope the person managing the restaurant- Koshy’s - takes some time to read the comments and smarten up the place and staff- improve everything please!
The food and service was just bad I Travelled an hour to get there, had a chicken sandwich which was dry AF the coffee was bad aswell Then for some reason when i asked the waiter for a bill i was completely ignored, after waiting for 15 mins i got up and paid at the counter and left I wonder how much they had to pay for this advertisement, pretty sure they will need to increase the prices to pay the bill now
Terrible overrated place. The kitchen is unhygienic and dirty. Cats walk in and out, have seen rats running under table. The Health dept palms are greased well so they don’t get caught. They just milk the vintage feel and the name curated through the years.
Pity that it is one of the worst restaurants in the city currently . Average food, inconsistent service, marinating in their mediocrity because of biased coverages like these
Do yourself and your self respect and your hard earned money a favour and go to literally ANY other restaurants in Bangalore. ANY is the keyword here, trust me.😊
One of The Worst Restaurants in our Bengaluru. Extremely Dirty sitting and Stinking place, non availability of food , waiters telling bad out the place. It's NO NO place.
Either they have deteriorated, or they are same and people taste bud has changed, but something is wrong with the place. I am also fan of old school cafes, such as Irani cafes in Mumbai, coffee houses, tea room in Kolkatta, , this place is selling shit in name of nostalgia.
This is just BS🤣 No one even remembers this restaurant. The food was yuk, service was always pathetic, and price overly exorbitant. Hope this is not a paid promotion 😜
naah you can decorate this place however you want but its probably the worst place currently that exists in the culinary heritage of BLR. Koshy's SUCKS.
Declined legacy average service food is overrated .whichz not 1995 koshys of my student days.toren chair covers no proper ventilations hope management improve all on our suggestions
Over priced, poor food and poor service. Banking on hype and legacy. Does have an old world charm. Prem Koshy should step aside and hire someone else to run this business.
Yes ,highly overrated -Its actually load of crap- it then that is true of most of Bangalore’s overrated restaurants -Give them their booze and they will end up feeding their ears 😂
Good place to hang out with friends over a pot of coffee. The food is very expensive and a ripoff. Now that the iconic Paragon restaurant is just across the street people will go there instead
Great place to sit and wile away time. Best selling item on the menu is nostalgia. Thats what Prem Koshy banks upon. Food's terrible. But then, they'll tell you that you never go here just for the food. And it works! (well, somewhat)
We had the worst experience. Bad staff and below average food. No staff courtesy and forced tipping.
Overrated. They charge 100Rs for an extra slice of bread. If you want the regular omlette with toast and butter at 600Ra - this is the place. Quite dirty toilets as well.
THEY ARE HERE TO LOOT ALL
You need to be a double pensioner to afford theor bread omlette
Yes, almost everyone who visited says the same.... no idea why BBC can't find restaurants older than this which is across SOuth India
Koshy's is a once in a lifetime experience. Once you go there you'll never feel like going back
Wow,
Such a dramatic way of expressing that the restaurant is not worth visiting.
EXACTLY 😂
Extremely disappointed, especially the careless staff who demand a tip.
Really never experienced that during my time in Bangalore
LOOT IS THE WORD
Welcome to Bangalore where tip is asked while rendering the service! 😂
The food is bad, and most of the staff just plonk your plate on the table and walk away. No charm left whatsoever.
agree, don't like their service. They act as if they are serving us on charity
Plonk..thank u got a new word to add to my dictionary
Plonk is an ooold word, were you born yesterday ?@@hashtag_pupuli
Oops, not good comments!
1967- 71..Bangalore life. But today, not the good old restaurant!
Thank you for saying as it is🙏
They have really lost everything what they were known for in the past. Its sad to see a legendary place stoop to such levels over the years. Bad service, quality and Overpriced
REALLY LOOT
Manorama calendar in the background was a nice touch
You'll feel guilty the whole day for spending so much for koshys breakfast.
The food only tastes good in Koshy's with a significant seasoning of nostalgia
I don’t stay in Bangalore anymore, but i do remember going to koshys, they have this old world, almost nostalgic charm to the place. The two times i have been there, the staff was neutral. I remember their scrambled eggs were good. Nice to see a video about this place pop up on my feed.

Yup. It’s the best!
I dont know why social media keep praising koshys
We had worst biriyani in koshys and the staff did not even acknowledge our feedback.
Prem, thank you for keeping this place alive and thriving.
Best wishes.
It’s the best! ❤❤

Vindaloo to
I highly recommend Coffee. Anyone looking for a fantastic experience of old Bangalore should visit.

Bacon omelette with toast and tea. That's my favourite from Koshys
Never found the bacon 😂
This used to be a landmark cafe in Bangalore. British Library was on the top floor.
The word "used to be "
I dont understand the hype over this place
Great to hear.!!!
Good luck to you all.!!!!
😋Yum yum yum 🇮🇳🙏🕉️ Fasinating BENGALURU

The legacy is fading slowly, taken over by time and generations.
I wonder why so many people have written negatively about this place. Seems like a mob has descended on this page. Most importantly, I’m disappointed that people have complained about the waiting staff, who have only been kind and polite. I would rate it seven stars, if I could.

Amazing place…Love the vibe ❤
this place is a DUMP !!!!
There may be drawbacks but it’s still running nice to visit this place occasionally
Koshy’s used to be a fantastic place but the recent experiences were far from being satisfied.
Despite the peeves, it is a nostalgic place
Absolutely
Their business model is “Stockholm syndrome”
I remember it used to be the place for Sunday post Church breakfast with Aapam and Ishtoo. Do they still serve it?
Also Koshy's served a slice of cake to the Indian Army jawans on the Indian border, on Christmas day. Is the tradition still on?
No
They serve Aapam and Stew.
Cakes to the Jawans, I don't know. Must check with Prem.
Silicon Valley of India
Excellent
Great place ! History
Very average food, lost its charm, poor hygiene
This place is far from the culinary gem it's made out to be; Enough with the praise, this restaurant is a spectacle of underwhelming flavors and poor service.
Fabulous Prem & Santosh ! You’re icons of Bengaluru !!!
I will pardon any South Indian restaurant if the food is bad. But they cannot go wrong with coffee. Your aloof staff serving bad coffee is sacrilege!
Love the nostalgic vibes and old world charm, but tbh this place is overpriced and serves mediocre food. Try out their bakery, good stuff there.
Super hyped and overrated.

Its just started in olden days , dont know what is legendary, dirty place which overcharges
Kerala joint

Awesome!!! I definitely will try to visit on my next trip to Bengaluru!!! 😍😍😍

Bad quality food, worse staff.. nothing iconic about it..
Once garden city now lt turned concrete jungle. Unbearable 😂😂😂

My all time fav Restaurant :)
Didn't expect the video to be this cinematic 👏👏
No gloves ' touching bread directly by hand not good ....not international standard
Either they have deteriorated, or they are same and people taste bud has changed, but something is wrong with the place. I am also fan of old school cafes, such as Irani cafes in Mumbai, coffee houses, tea room in Kolkatta, , this place is selling shit in name of nostalgia.
You know a place is shit in india if it becomes famous 😂
You get the worst Tea in bengalore there
Majority of Kerala restaurants, (gradually closing down) r bad...not good in preparing tasty foods...😊
This shop is controlled by chris* lobbys
This is just BS🤣 No one even remembers this restaurant. The food was yuk, service was always pathetic, and price overly exorbitant. Hope this is not a paid promotion 😜

Sorry sir but it's not value for money...
Are you joking?
Horrible food
Over-hyped, expensive and shitty food. These guys must have bribed BBC to make this spiel on them! 😂😂😂
Nothing iconic.....horrible food and REALLY overpriced...and they say Rameshwaram cafe is overpriced 🤦♂️
Declined legacy average service food is overrated .whichz not 1995 koshys of my student days.toren chair covers no proper ventilations hope management improve all on our suggestions
Prem Koshy must wake up and smell the coffee! The restaurant has gone from bad to worse! Yucky food and horrible service!

Worst food and irresponsible staff.!
Just big talks?
Forced to comment here, surprised that BBC covered this place. So overhyped & the worst service in Bangalore
Over priced, poor food and poor service. Banking on hype and legacy. Does have an old world charm. Prem Koshy should step aside and hire someone else to run this business.
Stinking Dirty Rude!! BBC credibility has come down by doing this content!
Lol what
This is one dirty place
Hype
Terrible service
