@@Samaelx. Thats very true magic is the best. I would still say that frostner is still very good when arriving to the ashlands and serves as a decent backup weapon. @@Samaelx. Not really. It can take down a tweaker in 3-4 hits. It has a large attack radius and usually enough knockback+slow to make attacks miss you. You can take out groups of tweakers fairly easily if you do it right.
Downsides are that it's slow compared to the mistwalker and the knockback is actually a bad thing against warriors.

You should consider the combination of the Storm Fang bow with Frost arrows. This combination causes mild knockback from the lightning and slowing from the frost, which almost immobilizes an enemy. So, with sufficient bow skill to take another shot before this wears off, you can effectively pump arrows into a target without risking a damaging attack. This combination is boosted by using the Embla's armor set that reduces attack stamina usage. Attack creatures from the high rocks around the Ashlands, so that you don't get surrounded and overwhelmed. A word of caution. The bow has relatively low durability, so that it will break sometime around the same time you empty your slot of 100 Frost arrows. Be careful not to have this happen mid-combat.

Magic really is king. They should introduce lower staff variants for early game so you can build up your magic skills by the time you hit Ash. I was able to handle Ashlands being melee, however went back and leveled magic/blood up a bit to 27 and even that does serious damage. Planning on giving some buddies ember and prot staves so they can hit the ground running with magic and be beasts by end game.

I really like the spears. For early game they are relatively easy to upgrade and have a low stamina cost. A level 2 spear and shield and 'most' of the black forest is fine to handle. The ability to throw is a boon for early deer hunting and occasionally dealing with a troll.
But one feature I really like about them is that they have a quite large radius for attracting mobs. Toss one at a boar cluster and they all come to you. As well as necks. You don't have to chase them down.

Spears are the lowest stam per atk, and is pure pierce, which is insane for Lox and troll. It is also the cheapest to craft, the fang spear only need a few ingots.
Also, given its infinitely reusable, you can stand on land and just throw it at all leeches in the swamp.

My list is not "most effective" per se, but it just works for me in basically all situations with relative comfort. So here it is.
    1. Meadows - wooden club. Fast and effective, reach is good enough.
    2. Black forest - same club, plus bronze axe. Sword would be better, but I can skip it, and axe is needed anyway.
    3. Swamp - at this point I switch mostly on bows, while still keeping club and axe as melee weapons.
    4. Mountain - silver sword is so good that I kept it even halfway through Mistlands. Of course proper buckler or round shield are essential.
    5. Plains - silver sword with another shift for bows, since there are tons of arrow mats from deathskitoes which do good damage and allow easy village cleaning.
    6. Mistlands - magic setup with decent blood magic level turns on easy mode, but Mistwalker is just too good and its mini-wisplight ability is extremely useful at times too. But just to free some space at some point I ditch swords and shields and leave Jotun Bane as melee backup. Same idea - you need axe anyway, and it actually does the job. Not as good as proper sword, but still.
Also at this point I switch to x-bow which is perfect for long range precision shots (the only real weakness of magic build).
I won't say that there are no other good weapons, but they are not as fast and handy as swords with shields. You have to pay with lower reach, or slower swing, or worse parrying, or much worse stamina usage. Some weapons just have bad hitboxes, which is extremely frustrating when fighting ticks or even bats. So yeah. Clubs-swords-axes. And magic.

swamp - iron mace or sladge 100%( or go to mountains and get 30 silver by useing stagbreaker to make frostner )
    Mountain - druger fang
Plains - black atgier, hunt bow, frostner still good ( for boss the second best weapon )
Mistlands - staff of ember, mistwalker, honorable mention demolisher ( best weapon to enter first time is frostner )
Ashlands - it will be controversial is storm star, stop, I will explain. How comfortable u feel when fight with berserk axe against 2 star charred warrior? I suppose it's not the best experience, but if you will use mace you will just spam secondary , it will pushed a warrior back and he will never touch u, also is ability to use shield (it's shines in tough situations ), and it stan capabilities , secondary make 5x of base attack stagger, with 25% lightning which also deal stagger . Wide attack with knockback help to control croud and chain lightning will kill croud and it's safely

I barely used atgeir, back when I played more regularly. I was disappointed that the range wasn't that much better than the spear, and the alt attack consumes so much stamina. For Black Forest, I chose the sword, because nothing resists slashing damage there, and you can still pierce with the alt attack. Getting the abyssal razor early is definitely a good idea, though. I remember having fun with the stagbreaker too, though the damage ends up being low. Still it has utility, and is funny sending Greydwarves flying around with it.
Aside from that I tended to stick with clubs through the next three biomes, culminating with the porcupine. I stopped playing before Mistlands came out, and haven't gotten past the Plains, but I restarted recently and am gonna see if I can make it through again.
Maybe I'll try the atgeir out again, and eat stamina foods for more alt attack action.

4:50 i'm sorry no the frostner is not the best option when dealing with the golems, you're best bet would be a regular iron mace or axe, simply have a leveled up shield either buckler or the other variant ( not the tower version ) and parry the golem any attack can be parried even the big attack but at the first encounter of the golem in wich you probably won't have a good shield at that point best to avoid the big attack or the golem it self . Once you've parried the golem and studied the patterns the golem becomes a complete joke of a fight and that's pretty much the case for any monsters in the game.. you can parry the abominations and trolls ( even with the club trolls variant ) ..

I agree with you there. A regular iron mace does better damage for golem smashing. Though rather than blocking I tend to dodge and then use he mace uppercut. Once you get the golem staggering it is just repeat time. (I used to jump on top and whack with the pickaxe). I think people sometimes overlook the maces high knockback for crowd control and yeeting greylings off cliffs. The uppercut works nicely in the swamps also for getting the leeches while you're safely on shore.

Too many people sleep on the arbalest due to its long reload and how easy it is to cancel said reload, but I legit havent killed a single enemy with my bow since getting the Arbalest.
The thing has very little drop, so you can legit snipe shit as far as your render distance will let you. Along with this, the sheer amount of damage it does per shot easily cancels out its reload time. When fighting bosses like Moder or Yagluth, or fighting any other enemy in game, the arbalest easily kills things faster than draugrfang with poison or frost arrows (unless you miss a shot).
A fully upgraded Arbalest does 200 damage per shot with a virtually unleveled skill (forgot the name of the skill), the spinesnap (which is better than draugr but doesnt do poison) does 70 damage per shot when its fully upgraded IF you have a LEVEL 50 bow stat. Even against enemies that are weak to spirit damage, the Arbalest is still better than even the spinesnap assuming you shoot the enemy before it notices you in order to engage it. The arbalest also requires practically 0 stamina to use, its projectiles fly straighter and faster than any bow, it basically doesnt have any drop off, and it staggers, stuns, and knocks back enemies (including large ones like the lox, doesnt knock them back but does stun).
So, pretty much unless youve only been using bows up until you get to the swamp, make the arbalest and dont look back. unless being able to run and jump around between reloads is truly integral to your gameplay, theres no reason to take a bow over an arbalest. Even in the plains most enemies attacks can be avoided at a walking speed by simply walking away, walking around them, or walking diagonally. When in the mistlands I just use the arbalest to get sneak attacks off on seekers then lure them to dwarf camps.
Mistlands I sincerely would never use a bow, even if thats what you prefer. The Mistlands love to test your stamina discipline, and bows are the single largest stamina consuming weapon.

I would say staff of frost is objectively wrose than staff of ember in mistland unless you are dueling with wetted enemy.
The lack of accuracy, long casting animation (which stop etir regeneration), lack of aoe potential and short range really hold it back aginst the staff of ember.
The advantage of slow effect is easily offset by the knock back from staff of ember(SoE). Now that fire dmg can be stack, also make SoE much more efficient as well. More importantly, the SoM is the best weapon to kite enemy.
When you are facing small skirmish, i think both staff can do well. But, when you are swamped by enemies, there is a clear winner.

I have to disagree with Ashlands choices. Magic is not king of Ashlands. It is the weakest. Magic is king in Mistlands, but you really want to have mistwalker plus fire staff. That way you have AOE for ticks, and a good melee for seekers. Going into Ashlands, Mistwalker is the best choice. Once I switched out of pure magic, I was able to dominate every creature in Ashlands. The Valkyrie is the only one that floats so it's really hard to fight melee and the frost staff works really well on them. Or the bow. I hated the vine staff because the vines have a delay on attack, they have short range, and they knock back, which pushes the mobs out of range and making follow up attacks impossible. Plus they are weak and die fast.
Medows - Flint spear / flint knife (Elk - fire arrows)
Black Forest - Spear/knife for trolls, stagbreaker for dungeons (usually go knife because it can hit multiple greydwarves) (Elder - fire arrows / axe shield)
Swamp - Bronze Mace/Axe - into Iron Mace with Iron round shield (bonemass - iron mace)
MT - Iron Mace until Frostnier with Silver round shield (modder - Fire arrows)
Plains - Frostnier / Bow (Yag - Frostnier)
Mistlands - Frostnier early game then - Bow for Gjall, Firestaff for ticks, Mistwalker for everything else. (queen 100% fire staff full magic)
Ashlands - Mistwalker no magic, get the best shield and upgrade to max. Bow for Valk.

Wolves are immune to spirit damage, Drakes are immune to frost AND spirit damage, Stone Golems are immune to all elemental damage,.....
How on earth are you saying that Frostner is good in the mountains?!
Frostner is one of the most overpowered, easymode weapons in the game,.. but that's AFTER the mountains,. not while you're in them!
Legit equip an iron mace instead and watch how much quicker you kill stuff in the mountains.
    Baffling.

    • @SpazzyjonesGaming
      @SpazzyjonesGaming  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

tell me what is better in the mountains? The spirit damage it does is only a portion of the damage it does in addition to blunt and frost. Plus, the slowing effect of the frost is fantastic

    • @Sevaekor
      @Sevaekor 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@SpazzyjonesGaming Already stated in my comment,.. the iron mace.
Max upgraded iron mace has a base blunt damage of 73, max upgraded frostner has a base blunt damage of 35.
Half the stuff in the mountains is immune to frost damage, negating the largest part of frostners damage, and completely bypassing the slow debuff
In your clip at 4:57 you're attacking a stone golem for 17 damage, because none of the frost or spirit damage is going through, and you're not applying the slow debuff.
If you just use iron mace and a bow, you're solid in the mountain biome.
The only creature in the entire biome that I can think of where Frostner is measurably better is the Fenring, every other creature can be killed in the same amount of time, or faster, with the iron mace.

Heartbreaking to know I cant put it on my wall of favorite weapons, yeah I can make another, but its not the same one you know

People who say "hurr durr, Frostner is best weapon in game, hurr durr" must've failed 1st grade math. Look at damage numbers. Frostner deals 35 blunt/58 frost/20 spirit at max level. That's a total of 113 damage. Storm Star (flametal mace with lightning upgrade) deals 141 blunt/10 lightning, and has the added bonus of a 25% chance to deal 75 addition lightning to the target with an 80% chance to jump to nearby enemies. Even ignoring that lightning effect, Storm Star deals 151 damage to Frostner's 113. Even taking into account the 50% bonus to spirit damage taken by Charred enemies in the Ashlands, the Frostner isn't even comparable. And the slow effect from the frost damage, while nice, is also quite negligible, as the chain lightning effect counts as a separate damage instance for purposes of stagger, and/or just has a much higher stagger modifier than normal attacks, resulting in ABSURD chance to stagger enemies, to the point where you shouldn't even be able to appreciate the loss of the slow effect in the face of the absolutely crushing increase in damage that you get from a far superior weapon plus the bonus damage taken by staggered enemies. In short: don't use Frostner in Ashlands. It's a trap. If you like maces, get the Storm Star.

I mean you're just stating the obvious. I'm approaching it from the angle of how impressive it is that a weapon from the Mountains is still viable 3 biomes later. Naturally you get better weapons as you progress with the latest biome giving the best weapons. But, the pure fact that you can enter the ashlands and hold your own with a weapon from a 3 biome prior weapon speaks to how good of a weapon it is

@@SpazzyjonesGaming the problem is that you're not the only one making these claims, amd it got to a point where I figured I must be missing something and tried it out for myself only to find that it wildly underperformed compared to even the Mistwalker (granted, that may have simply been because my sword skill is higher than my club at this point).
