When you reel in a fish pay attention to what it is doing. When it is actively trying to swim away and you try to reel it in your stamina drain will be much higher than when its holding still. So stop reeling in when it is fighting, and continue reeling in when it is passive. Helps a lot with the stamina..
That being said fishing nukes my stamina no matter what and rn I've got 120 stam and can barely get the first fish, I definitely lose more than I catch
Well a bunch of this is not true anymore. 1: Biggest fish level is 5, not 4 2: Progression system is gone, its now mostly crafted with biome mini boss heads, like abomination and fenring heads. 3: Tetra has a unique line 4: Stamina drain seems to be doubled per fish level 5: Fish wiggle, so you should stop reeling in when they do, but its kinda hard to react to.
@@Silverhand404 no, you currently can’t breed fish in Valheim. If you’re making a fish pond, mark natural spawn points on your map. The fish like to jump a lot, so spotting them is pretty easy. They’ll always respawn there, so you can come back to collect more to add to the pond.
you actually do not need a frost cave with pool at the bottom for tetra. there are caves with bathing tub-like recess to the wall (original update) that is shallow enough for you to jump in to grab the fish by hand.
@@alessioHD oh yeah man. I see your stuff pop up a lot and I enjoy it over many others because you have a much more humble approach and there really is a crap ton of horrible fishing videos by big channels - but yours is def the best
Nice guide! Just one question: do higher level anglerfish yield more fish n' bread or is it better to turn them into raw fish for fish wraps. Haven't got a level 5 cauldron yet.
Big bummer that different fish don’t really provide different types of recipes aside from the angler. Kinda kills my drive to even want to fish for these different fish other than the trophies. I’m sure they’ll add in different purposes later in though
Fish will only take the bait specific to them. So, even if you are in the Black Forest, pike and perch still only take normal bait. Only the Troll fish will take the Mossy bait. It is the same for every biome. Even in the Mistlands you only use Misty bait to catch fish specific to the biome. Perch and pike still only take regular bait.
Ability to equip a really big caught fish and smack other Players in the face with'em when? Could become a whole new Minigame in Valheim... Fish Fights! Cause Pillow Fights are for sissies! ;P
Puffer fish on item stands rocks as passive base defence if dense enough spawns run into them and get poisoned 😂 Got em round my outter wall 3 deep in a few places but it's in the Plains
It’s good that you don’t need a fish to create a new bait now, only a common bait and the trophy of a miniboss of the biome. That is still a pain in the ass sometimes. And I was foolish enough to burn all my troll heads in the obliterator as soon as I got one but before I knew they are needed for baits. I wonder if it’s possible to put all different fishes from all biomes into one pond?.. I think it’s the fastest way to level fishing skill.
Adding 2024 on a year old video uploaded in 2023 is particularly dishonest when the content of the video is almost completely out of date and obsolete.
I've been experimenting with small scale beach or land fish traps. I'm new and haven't checked on it daily enough yet but I'm very interested in trying out different models where the fish can either jump or swim in and can't escape and I just come along and pick them up lol.
I saw a video about this recently. It’s an interesting strategy. They used 26 degree roofs to make a V shape so it was hard for the fish to swim out. It seems like jumping in the water can scare the fish, causing them to jump into the trap.
Same here. The issue I have is building limitations. I can’t go out more than 3 or 4 pieces without something supporting underneath. I think once you have access to iron that changes. Even in shallower waters though, the fish don’t always jump onto my platforms or shoreline, can even wiggle themselves back into the water, and the ones that do beach themselves get taken back out with the tide or a storm, so you can’t really AFK the farm. It does work, it just doesn’t produce crazy yields. Only like a few fish per hr.
@@joshbesherse3842 I’ve found it easier to just build a flat platform just above the water and wait for the fish to jump on it, then grab em as quick as possible. They can wiggle themselves back into the water, but the bigger problem is tide changes and storms. Once the tide comes in or a storm starts, basically anything that slightly submerges your platform, any fish caught in the trap using the roofs will start swimming again and will clip through the roofing, allowing them to escape. I don’t know if there’s a way to fix that, but that’s been my experience with it. I thought I could AFK the farm, but the moment any waves came in, whatever fish I did have in the trap all managed to escape. Edit: plus, I’ve noticed that more fish hit the edge of the roof and fall back into the water than actually make it into the trap, that’s why I eliminated it and went with a flat floor.
To be fair I liked the idea of having to progress and catch each type of fish. Also everything, even the devs claim that tier 5 fish exist. Unless they are massively trolling us
I think this might be outdated by now. Seems like all you've gotta do is get bait and then the appropriate trophy for the fish you're trying to get; combine the two items in a cauldron and it gives you the bait. At least as far as I can tell with my progression in my game, that's all I have to do.
