    Just to say THANK YOU for sharing your experiences, especially about your juddering brakes and resulting suspension knocking; I have had exactly the same with my Westminster 2012. That you had the same problem, sharing how you sorted it, is genuinely helpful. Much apprciated! George, Kent, UK

    Another fantastic video. Just to add my experience, I have never had any success with drilled/grooved discs on off road vehicles, every set I've tried has ended with issues. I don't think you'll beat decent quality "standard" discs/pads.

    Great to see like minded rr owners. Once of prevention goes a long way with these. I ordered full rebuild kits for both mine for next weekend fun!

    Hi Mark! Yes i know of that knocking! My lower balljoints was shot, pain too change, but still have a small shimmer. Going to put a dailgauge on the disks asap. I live in the Algarve, so if you need any help or what ever, give me a call!

    Hi Mark. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I’m about to start a complete front end rebuild of my D4. That’s upper & lower arms, steering track rods & joints, drop links, anti roll bar bushes, drive shafts, air struts. Bearings, Brakes. The lot. So top tip to avoid Mintex. They were one of the cheapest options but not coated, which means they won’t age that well. Hope the Portugal trip goes well. Cheers. Ty

    Thanks for the update Mark. Glad its all sorted. Just got mine back from having rear subframe bushes, rear stabiliser arms, drop links, upper and lower rear knuckle bushes, rear brake lines and ABS sensors and rear suspension air bags replaced all part of preventative maintenance, and wheel alignment. Did front upper and lower control arms a year or so ago. Also running Brembo diacs and pads with no issues. Drives really well. Service now due, doing oil change every 5k as well. Off to Snowdonia in couple of weeks. Have you done any trails up there? Good to hear you have a cable route to charge 👍 enjoy the next road trip! Will be another good Im sure. Cheers

    I had same issue with vibration between 50-70mph. I had already rebuilt the front suspension Upper/lower control arms ball joints and wheel bearings. It turned out to be calliper piston sticking front drivers side especially after it had been sitting for a while.

    • @Overlanding4WD
      @Overlanding4WD  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I could have been a sticking piston, but they were rebuilt 6 months before, maybe sitting for so long, maybe they did stick for a while, and maybe that did cause the warping, who knows. 👍🏻

      @morris3j ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Overlanding4WD I agree. Sounds like a more likely candidate to warp a disk.

    My leisure battery is plumbed straight into the big red battery cable in the right rear. simply plug and play using a kit from simply split charge uk. Works perfectly to run my fridge. Mine is a 2011 so it has BMS also. Don't know why it doesn't work on yours. simple volt sensing relay for charging it.

    • @Overlanding4WD
      @Overlanding4WD  ปีที่แล้ว

      Doesn’t work on mine. Tired everything, advise is do what I said and several of my subs have had the same issue.

      @scmtbcoach2477 probably the quality of the dc/dc charger, most need to
      see 13v+ to effectively charge, I never, ever saw 13v on that back fuse box feed to indicate that the system was charging the second battery. A quality BMS can pump 30a continuously into a second battery.

    • @scmtbcoach2477
      @scmtbcoach2477 ปีที่แล้ว

      I see over 13 volts at the back and charges the second battery fine. Ran my fridge for 2-3 days with only a very short drive in between. as i say i just have a very simple split charge system so maybe that is the difference who knows! @@Overlanding4WD

    Mark you certainly dont skimp on maintenance 1 Question would you buy another RR or wojld you try another brand of 4x4??

    • @Overlanding4WD
      @Overlanding4WD  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Nope, as I think you must stay ahead of maintenance, same with the Defender. No harm in changing fluids more of term as the vehicle ages.
      YES to another RR, NO, to another brand. 👍🏻
