@@babayaga9102 it depends most of the time the Zeus (the Person organizing the Mission) would say something like Air support is available, this is when people on the ground would ask for it, but this could also be Artillery Support and it would just be an AI Operated Vehicle or one Operated by the Zeus for a brief moment, but some units have dedicated Pilots that would fly the people on the Ground from a to b and then get in something like an A-10 and would be able to do Air Support.
You know you're low, when you can hear the team on the ground without even using the comm

Nice display of aerial dominance, I can't rejoin my clan because my occupation requires me to fly in fly out weeks at a time.
When I broke my leg I woke up logged in comms everyday for 8 months while I healed, I was also the CAS specialist in my platoon. When I knew I was close to returning to work I trained up a replacement and never returned to duty, I miss my squad and pop in from time to time but I feel slack for leaving them.
I refuse to run Arma as a filthy casual because it's much more in depth than hour here or there.
Watching Arma clips is my fix now, thank you Operator Drew for helping me relive memories.

When it comes to milsim groups and the like people do end up depending on you, in the context of it being a team-based game. In such an in-depth game where real life knowledge tactics of unit cohesion, coordination and teamwork are important it's more fun, even, to take it more seriously. Even just the videos on this channel are a testament to the extent to which people are connected to each other through these experiences, and while it may be a game, to many people it's more than that: it's an experience.
Listen I can understand and respect that. However, No matter how many hours you may be spending bonding with your "platoon". It still is just a game. No one is going to die if you are not playing. No one is depending on you to survive. It is just a game. you're treating it like you're actually in the military which is fine if your in game and just want to Rp or whatever. But you're taking it into real life wtf is the point of that? Play the game. Make new friends and play the game with them. Just do something other than complain that you can't play the game anymore because you don't have 9 hours a day to hop on.
30:21 Would've loved to see that warthog stomp from the inf. perspective. For anyone who's interested, AFAIK the first air-to-air kill by an A-10 happened during the Gulf War, the plane was flown by Cpt. Bob Swain, and the exact type of helicopter that got stomped is to this day, still to be determined. Cpt. Bob Swain attempted to lock on a Sidewinder when he spotted a helicopter that shouldn't be there, and his spotter plane confirmed it was an Iraqi, but due to insufficient altitude he couldn't, so he switched on the gun and let off a burst of some 75 rounds from about a mile away. Not happy with his result, he gave the chopper 300 rounds more while closing in, just to be on the safe side, and probably because an overkill is still a kill. That did the trick, it did the trick so well, they couldn't ID the chopper when they found the wreckage. In his own words: -"It looked like I'd hit it with a bomb"... Anyways, great video.

Hey, as a newer player to Arma 3 i was wondering if you could make an advanced tutorial on how to play the A10 because i am very curious on how you did alot of the things you did.
(Ctrl means left ctrl) Ctrl + right mouse = Camera view (that infrared he goes into to check for targets) | N = switching view modes (to switch to infrared view) | Ctrl + T = Locking onto an area (used to lock onto targets with the camera, locked-on targets are shown on the hud by the dashed circle he fires at) | F = change weapon

When you put videos from others prespective not only looks cool and creative, it feels like you've done a great teamworking progress through out the mission, seeing from you blasting the enemys away to seeing you're teammates cheering for you while you gave them air support it really looks like straight out of a movie somehow. With the release of Malden yesterday, what are your hopes for in the upcoming DLCs such as "Orange", "Tac-ops", etc. Drewski?
Zachary Vasey I take the right to answer your question, just for you to know somebody opinion apart from him. I think "Orange" DLC (with its name coming because of Bohemia new studio location, Amsterdam) is going to have a new type of gameplay, if I remember well (I saw that on their last Roadmap). Maybe that gameplay could be a naval one? I don't know which other military staff could they give us, but if they try to give us naval stuff, it can massively change gameplay, unless they focus only on sea support (with bombs like on the city port of Company of Heroes). The "SpecOps" DLC I think it could give us some new weapons focused on Special Forces, but that is strange because of CTRG and Viper. I think they are going to give us some missions, but only that content from a DLC... What do you think?
After reading some speculation forums online, I think the Orange DLC is going to be humanitarian aid of some kind. The logo of two hands shaking imply something peaceful rather than combat based game play. There could be an addition of a tactical nuke and players must help civilians deal with the aftermath and treat patients for radiation poisoning. Maybe some improvements to healing and reviving will be present. I'm not sure :) I'm really excited to learn more about this DLC!
I think the Tac - ops DLC will focus on close quarters combat. Maybe there will be the addition of shotguns as this was lacking from the original game. Tac - ops could also add helicopter repelling, stun grenades, small UGVs, improved AI, Improved high command game play, stuff like that. I really hope something is done to improve the AI. It works as is and BI has done a great job with AI development, but definitely some improvements can be made....
I believe the last DLC is armored. I think tank destroyers and maybe even some new tanks will be added. I would love to see a M1A3 Abrams (or some improved Abrams tank) for NATO.... Maybe AT missiles will be improved; guidance systems and new AT launchers (NATO and independent forces lack an unguided AT shoulder mounted launcher). More detail may be added to penetration. There may be an actual hole where a projectile penetrated the vehicle instead of just random scratches and burn marks. I would love to see a detailed interior of armored vehicles.
I hope to see general improvements to optimizations along the way as well... I think OperatorDrewski said one time he hopes for a "60 FPS update". Something like that lol

Thanks! I hope something is done about infantry combat in Tac-Ops. Smoother infantry movement and better animations would be a big plus! When I try to peak around corners when in the "Hard Side Lean" (left ctrl + D for example), I just can't help but notice how awkward and clumsy it is when I try to actually move around a corner in this stance. As for animations, something just seems off... When I kill an enemy from a far I see this process happen: I see the impact with some blood and all that, the soldiers almost freezes(glitches out laughably sometimes when they just injured) as the game has to register that this object is "!alive", then a sometimes awkward death ragdoll. Some of you have probably experienced this while sniping. Games that come to mind when I think of good death "animations" are Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege(2015), Grand Theft Auto V(Sometimes! :))(2013), and HITMAN (2016). I understand these are all VERY much different games from the Arma series, but they could give inspiration for BI to create a "dynamic death animation". These things are not big and don't get me wrong I love Arma, but I think the little things really make for an aggregate improvement to the experience and quality of the game.
I wish they'd get rid of the basic HUD they use and keep everything in the cockpit, I always thought the mini-map and putting all the information on screen was kinda cheap. They should force you to keep your head in the cockpit if you want to monitor your systems/weapons/radar, this would add more realism and also add a small level of difficulty when operating aircraft. They created such a good looking cockpit that its a shame the player has no real reason to even look at it.

It'd be perfect. For people with VR / Headtracking. The rest of us can't realistically use the instruments in the cockpit.

@@CodOfAges Does have headtracking though. Honestly even if you could get VR to work in it with absolutely 0 performance impact, it'd be utter hell. The constant frame-drops and freezing would cause so much sickness.

@@2142Hunter2142 Jet, tanks, helis are all DLC, not gamemodes. There are lots of gamemodes but I am pretty sure all except co-op and some sandbox games are PVP. If you really want to know you can just find out yourself by playing the gamemodes

The US Air Force is doing its best to retire the A-10 so they can pour more money into the F-35 (the 1.6 trillion costing multi role fighter which is outperformed by most other aircraft). Congress blocked its retirement however.

Getting a good graphics card is good but if you want better frames upgrade your ram and cpu as well. A graphics card isnt the only important part in a computer. Also mods may not be well optimized. So no matter how well your specs are, you may only reach 30 fps because of badly optimized mods

You really need 1 commanding personnel not all of you calling out orders at the same time and blurting out stuff that is rather common sense. It just feels un organized to me. I usually watch Jester play and his is very uniform but still fun

This makes me so sad. My old milsim group is dead now and no one talks anymore. I used to fly a-10s and helis with my best friend always with me in the air and now it never happens anymore.
