It's really in these handwound '66 Tbird Pickups. They are an exact replica of a '66 Tbird P/U. That and a lot of treble and mid range dialed in. And a little bit of overdrive too. That's about it really. Thanks, and glad you enjoyed it.
Always thought this was Entwistle at his best. VERY good job Jon. My kids and I have been grooving to Who By Numbers lately. I think its my favorite Who Album. Very underrated.
I'll keep this simple. WOW!!!! I have for years studied his skills and can never emulate a single song of his. This is his finest live performance in my opinion and I didn't think anyone could ever cover and you went and did it! And absolutely amazingly!!! Bravo man!!!
It’s such as pleasure watching you play this very complex Entwistle bass line. As a beginning bassist I especially appreciate being able to watch both of your hands up close. Congratulations on an excellent performance.
Outstanding cover plus great of the period bass and sound! I’m also a bass player who actually bought one of John’s basses at Sothebys after his death. P.s. you also look him in his younger years - surely you’re in a Who tribute band, if not you should be 👍🏻😎
Wow man! Didn't think it was possible to replicate 'The Ox's' live sound. The wicked salmon 'FenderBird' doesn't hurt. But great job rockin one of John's great off the cuff 'O by the way' full track solo's.
nice. Dude you are killin it. Entwistle's prolly my main bass idol, I have been doing it over 20 years, and this IMPRESSES me. You got the tone, feel, and that Fenderbird is STUNNING. Bravo!
This cover serves as not only as a testament to your skills as a player, but a testament to the legacy of John Entwistle, who is in my mind is absolutely the greatest and most ground-breaking of all rock bass players. Also watched the WTGFA cover that you posted, and you do an amazing job of emulating his style while not being locked in to playing exactly what he recorded. Also checked out the videos of your band. Great playing there as well as well as vocals. Thanks for what you've done.
Parabéns cara, eu adoro o estilo Entwistle de tocar, e você tem a assinatura do grande Ox. Parabéns de novo. Long Live Who! (Congratulations dude, I love the Entwistle style of play, and you have the Ox signature. Congratulations again. Long Live Who!
Fantastic. I think John on his Thunderbirds were my favorite sounds from the basses he had. I thought he got the most fluidity from his sound with those guitars.
@@jcamp2112 Ha ha! Best promo video ever! I love that you recognize it. Randy with his never ending supply of magically produced creamers and Gene Okerlund's stern demeanor. Classic stuff. Just like your music!
Best freaking cover of this song I have EVER heard! Man it would be something for the two of us to jam together since I’ve been compared to Moon by most everyone I’ve played with. I once had an 18pc drum set so that no matter where I swung the sticks, there was a drum waiting for me lol
Oh and yet ONE MORE THING. I went on to Pete's facebook page, yes his real one that he actually responds to people on and posted this video to him and asked him to contact you!!
Dude, I've listened to the actual live recording you're playing along with and, to be honest, you sound better than The Ox himself on this track! Great playing bro!
I want to start a band with you. But I'm guessing we'd get sidetracked playing Who stuff nonstop.....and there's nothing wrong with that either. Really great man, keep it up.
Well, the thing is, theres no amp being used here. I'm going directly into my recording software ( Sonar 8.5). But if I were going to get this particular sound, I would use some sort of solid state bass amp, like a Sunn Coliseum, or similar. Crank the mids and treble, and play real hard with your hands. That will tend to overdrive the input section into some distortion. You could also use a distortion pedal that would allow you to blend the distorted/dry signal. Yes, those are TB ranch p/u's
Jonathan. Jonathan! You have got to be kidding me man. Look! You have zero thumbs down! I saw this and said to myself : “self I says, there ain’t no way someone can do this song right”. So I came for a chuckle... Picking my jaw up from the floor. Bra-f’n-vo! This IMHO this is better than the studio version. Hold your head up, puff your chest out, cause it ain’t bragging if you can back it up.
OMG I just took notice to that too! I have NEVER seen a video with a cover of a song that didn't have a thumbs down. This is a testament not only to Jonathan's ability but the ability to cover what is arguably Entwistle's BEST live performance on bass.

Entwistle smiled, you can be sure!

Oh, and I've see many "covers" of Entwistle songs and this by far is THE BEST out there!
This chap can play bass!

Outstanding cover plus great of the period bass and sound!
I’m also a bass player who actually bought one of John’s basses at Sothebys after his death.

3:22 to 3:43 is one of the classic Entwistle style unique runs which IMO Jonathan nails here and riffs on. bravo!
