    This has been one of my biggest problems. Great video. I feel like for a while it was considered “bad” to roll your hands over at impact but having this correct wrist angle forces you to have to roll over or you’ll have an open club face at impact

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gotta have SOME lead arm supination trail arm pronation (arm rotation)
      The amount depends heavily on GRIP, club face coming into ball and body positions

    Do you have a video on how the wrists work with the Driver, since it’s an upward angle swing instead of down?

    Maybe in commemoration of Jon Rahm's US Open victory, (yes the 2 final putts won it for him - and a certain South African that went OB on the 17th), you can do a modern golf swing how-to Power-Fade Driver setup (paths, face to path, ball position, strong face at the top, bowed wrist, etc) using Rahm, Morikawa, Hovland, Keopka examples on building a driver-swing that will survive the pressure of competition.

    I know I give this guy a hard time but he is a great instructor you can tell he is passionate about preserving the game and also getting us to play better golf. At the US OPEN they did a slow mo of JSpeith driver swing and his left wrist was bowed and I want that piece incorporated into be swing for max compression

    Even though I know that having a bent back right wrist (righty) gives me forward shaft lean and a solid impact feel it still feels counter-intuitive. With the wrist bent it seems that I must have stored/unused power and hence club speed and I suspect this assumption is why most amateurs flick the ball. Surely (“don’t call me Shirley”) the club head will have achieved maximum velocity when the arms are fully extended after impact so why are we not trying to achieve this fully extended position at impact? Do you have a trace/graph of club head speed against its position in the swing, at what point in its arc is the club head actually travelling the fastest and why aren’t we trying to make this the impact position? Cheers,

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are looking to reach full extension about 45* past impact with wrist and arms
      Look at slow mo face on of your favorite players...you will see that as about an average

    I get this but the g forces generated by the swing make it impossible for me to keep the right wrist bent all the time. What am doing wrong ?

  • @topgunbass
    @topgunbass 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So Eric if you hold the wrist angles to last parallel at that point are your hands just releasing automatically or is it something you are doing consciously? Thanks for the video.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey!
      As always....should you CONSCIOUSLY do something or not of course depends on do you currently do it?
      If you currently do it correctly it requires NO THOUGHT.
      IF you do not currently do it correctly it requires THOUGHT. (or how will it change)
      Generally speaking the wrists WILL unhinge no matter what you do...its the timing that's key. Use video and see what your FEELs produce in reality

    Would love to see your opinion vs. someone who tells you to downcock immediately in the downswing mr eric of the cogorno dynasty.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Jake!
      Unhinging (ulnar deviating) your wrists immediately from the top would...
      1. cause contact issues via moving the low point back (fats and thins)
      2. make you lose club head speed (power potential) through impact

    I’ve found that to get my left wrist bowed I have to push my hips thru the ball during impact. Is it better to feel the right hip pushing thru or the right knee pushing forward?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Steve!
      Yes---hips need to push forward. I like belt buckle to the chair:
      th-cam.com/video/OlZKqVytr0U/w-d-xo.html
      Either one of those COULD work....any FEEL could work have to see what you ACTUALLY do when you feel it (use video)

    Hi Eric, what about the longer Irons like 5 iron? Same amount of shaft lean and wrist angles as for the 8 Iron? Best Regards Bernd

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same FEELs....but there will be less lean bc the ball is more forward and you have more tilt at setup with longer clubs

    Been working on feeling of hands moving another 6 inches passed ball. So my hand path travels inside the ball, and continues for another 6 inches passed the ball before I release the wrists. Do you think this is a good picture to have?

  • @davidd1395
    @davidd1395 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So, is it fair to say that club head speed is more from the arm swing speed than any uncocking of the wrists since at impact there is still right wrist extension?

  • @michaelselvie8356
    @michaelselvie8356 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Should we keep that same wrist feel with the driver or woods?

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nope...until you REALLY throw early.
      You need more throw with driver

    I have the Hangar. But why put it on at 45 instead of straight on as they instruct? Is it to exaggerate the wrist conditions?

    • @wesboothe6507
      @wesboothe6507 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don’t believe Watson hanger instructs straight, they mention to put the hanger at 2 o’clock that would simulate a 45* angle 📐

    • @chadgill3977
      @chadgill3977 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wesboothe6507 I think they do because if you attach the bottom section of it that has a little plastic club face on it you’re supposed to line that up with the actual club face.

    • @CogornoGolf
      @CogornoGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I like 45* for most grip types. Try it and record yourself from DTL...find what angle makes your left wrist flat. For me thats 45*

    • @CogornoGolf

      Certainly. Open club face (from poor grip or wrist angles) responsible for 80% or more of all downswing issues
