It looks really cheap in some ways. Like a toy. That one they had as a used had only been driven 2730km, meaning barely anything and it already had rust in some places... Even behind the front brake disc on the internal components. Might not be me used to sports bikes but you really sat very aggressive on it even though everyone says comfy for a sports bike. If the Aprilia feels like it´s built a bit like a Dacia as a comparison (which is unfair I know). The RS looks to be built as a Bentley or something. Paint so thick and deep, the leather on the seat and the components, even the stand is very solid and looks more expensive than needed. Also felt amazing to sit on, very sporty but much more comfy obviously than aprilia which it is since naked. I will try them both incl the Tuono to see how they feel riding.
I have one RS660, and have done 4 track days so far. Ifound that all eletronic controls changes were quite noticeable at the tracks, specially traction control. There was a 2 sec lap time difference at Estoril, from modes commute to race engine cut at lean and throttle does not responded as fast, also ABS intrudes a lot. At the streets I found only the throttle response to be clearly noticeable when changing engine maps. So, in my opinion those different set-ups serve the purpose.

It shows how important long term reviews are. The bikes look fantastic in the showroom, but no new bike should need a whole engine replacement as a recall! That is not trivial! It seems to have cheapy suspension, so you replaced that, tyres lasted 5 minutes, the finish wears easily and now an oil leak!? It shows that bike tests at the time of launch are really not much use at all!
At last someone with a functioning brain . I think only me and you actually understood that review. I've had 2 Tuono v4 factories which rode great but the faults and poor warranty service put me off buying another.
a lot of new engines has been replaced or recalled. My Honda's VTR 1000 cc replaced in 1999. Africa Twin 1000 cc engine replaced to in 2017 under warranty too...

I wanna know about reliability when it’s 10 years old with 44k miles on it. I don’t care about the “reliability” of a 2 year old bike. It’s brand new, it damn well better be reliable.
It's a bike that doesn't need the electronics because it doesn't make the hp, and with the new r7 they took the r6 elements out of it and it's a let down because it's supposed to be a sportbike but it just isn't.
I bet if it was a V twin the second cylinder head would increase the price another $1000 plus. It’s a shame, but the cost of producing v engines seems to be ballooning thanks to more complicated tech and engineering in modern cylinder heads … and besides that you don’t really make any more power going v versus inline. Yamaha will prove this when they release the R9 with the 115 bhp triple in it, ..everyone will prefer that over an RS660 😳!!
An R9 would be sweet, and between that and an RS660 it would be a tough call.
I hope they come out with the R9 soon!
title says Aprilia RSV4??
Thanks, corrected now.
Brilliant, great video thank you.
Rsv4 or rs660...???
Thanks, corrected now.
How is it two up?
How much for the suspension upgrades?
About £2200 for a GP30/10 Maxton forks and shock.. I had mine done and can say it does completely transform the bike, especially on track
@@mach3463 thanks, and yeah I can imagine.
Never had an issue with getting warranty work done on any of my aprilia’s 😁
a lot of new engines has been replaced or recalled. My Honda's VTR 1000 cc replaced in 1999. Africa Twin 1000 cc engine replaced to in 2017 under warranty too...
Taking about Aprilia reliability and we hear of major recalls for whole new engines (!) and it’s dripping oil on the floor before it’s even a year old 🤣🤣🤣
2000 miles with tyres?
I just got a Tuono 660 and with only 19 miles I have an oil leak
WTF APRILIA!
Really want to buy that bike but the oil leak is the final nail in the coffin. Loads of people having same issue, poor customer service. its like going back to the 1960’s!! Unacceptable, will stick with ducati.
I love spending my hard earned cash on a pretty looking thing just to have it in the shops getting factory warrantied 6 months of the year.
It gives you opportunities to ride your others bikes in the meantime, so quite nice in fact.
So.....if i have had my 2020 gixxer 1000 for 11 months and they came out with Bridgestone rs11, and I gave them the absolute beans every chance I got and they lasted 5200km, before changing them... and this guy has changed his tyres 3 times, how bloody abusive was he?...no wonder the bike is weeping.
Awesome bike 👌🏽
Why did you remove the maxton suspension?
...because it is being returned to Aprilia?
How does it compare to the CBR650R ?
It makes more power, lighter, more electronics so it's not really a fair comparison
Blows the Honda out of the water. Honda will be more reliable
Wrong bike listed in the title guys
Thanks, corrected now.
A recall is a sign of trust read forums and see which manufacturers in the automotive industry Don't do recalls on commonly considered faults ...
What I dont get is the money out into it as it's a manufacturers bike. Redone the suspension unless this is owned by MCN and his long term review.
I wanna know about reliability when it’s 10 years old with 44k miles on it. I don’t care about the “reliability” of a 2 year old bike. It’s brand new, it damn well better be reliable.
What does he mean by "square tire" ? Non-english speaker first time hearing the terminology
It refers to excess wear in the centre of the tyre, leading to the round profile becoming flatter.
That ain’t no RSV4
Thanks, corrected now.
Character counts, though!
Thanks for the LT review. Considering buying one to replace a Ninja 650 on commuting duties. Needs to be robust and reliable.
Just curious, why would you replace a commuter with another commuter?
@@lovelessissimo love the Ninja 650 (despite its reputation as a happy shopper) but would love to have something a little more sporty for the 30 min commutes and the odd weekend run out to the twisties.
I have a 2021 Ninja 1000sx for touring. Happy to diversify away from Kawasaki.
@@argieessex that makes sense, lol. that's the only way to do it: only get an Ape if you also have a japanese bike in the garage. I went from a Ninja 650 to a z900 recently. The commute became much more exciting.

3 sets of tires in 9 months?
No, 3 sets of sports tires in 10k miles. Most riders will do this mileage in 3 years lol ...
Hold on a minute 6 months old 6k on the clock and it's dripping oil all over your garage floor.
How on earth is that acceptable for a 10k bike ,we buy bikes to ride them not ride them back a forth to the dealer's for warranty and recalls.
considering many RS 660 owners are having oil leaks why did these 2 brush it under the carpet, found this review useless and others too.
It ain't the end of the world, and if you know how to use a wrench to tighten a loose bolt (kind of hard, I know), you can even fix it yourself.
I am struggling to make a decision between RS660 or pay another 2k and buy Panigale V2 here is oz the price between the two is just 2k, I will use the bike for daily so panigale V2 maybe too much and uncomfortable than rs660 then again it is more powerful and better built so I have a headache
Would you buy one after that review? Recall fot whole engine replacement!
@Nick 007 see my other comments regarding V2 Panigale, but if you’re going to commute the bike you need isn’t out yet ,…Yamaha are surely going to make an R9 with the three cylinder engine in, it would be an absolute winner and would sit somewhere between the RS660 and the V2 .
It would go and sound great and would be a better daily ride than the V2 , so it would fit your brief exactly, just hold your fire and keep saving for a while 👍
@@1956colinb mate R9 is a long wait if it is even true and a S1000rr costs 25k here the base version might wait a few months and just buy that for a long time I don't want to mess up with rs660 after hearing about the call back and the quality of suspension etc doesn't make sense, r9 would be great but cannot wait for another 1 and half year
Get the v2 mate …
I have one on order to convert into a track Bike! I will put clips on's on, rear sets, full system.... @Neevsey - any other reco's?
I still can't warm to the power rangers paint scheme, why Aprilia is doing it still, going back over 20 years to RSV. They clearly can design a pretty bike like Ducati and MV, which don't have a Rainbow look, Japanese sports bike do it to hide there styling shortfalls.
Honestly ?
Lol. Very reliable. Just leaking oil, thin paint and a full engine replacement.
Beautiful machine.
But the "Friday afternoon bike" term is a joke.
How can a 6k mile bike drip oil? It's practically still brand new.
If it was mine, I'd be furious.
Plus the engine swap recalls.
I just sold a VFR 800 Vtech with
230 000kms. No drips of oil or anything.
Has been on the dyno at 200k and still put out factory numbers.
Well, I guess the "Friday afternoon bike "
term does not exist in Japan 😉
Lol there is Friday sake and Monday hangovers in the Rising Sun too.
Worked for long time at a 6brand dealer, saw plenty of them.
Check out Hondas 2021 CBR RX4 SP2 and the broken conn rods, failed oil lines, etc. No one is spared of mechanical mayhem. Mr Murphy can hitch a ride anytime.
Mine VTR 1000 cc engine was replaced under warranty juste after 3000 km by Honda in 1999. In 2017 Honda also replaced mine Africa Twin 1000 cc engine under warranty at 11000 km. All brands has problems on new products, as 660cc is a new engine, let's see in future. The oil drips problem is very well known for now - it is oil filter cover gasket (easy fix).
@@crazyosva rough go of things with Honda! Interesting info Thanks for sharing!
My Firestorm is still running with 50000 miles on it, never done nothing besides modify it and replace the charging system.
Though she rattles a tad it will still spank my brand new 21 MT09.
Our examples are proof of good and bad in everyone of them.
This bike was on the top of my shopping list, but the oil leak and Aprilia's terrible customers service put me off badly. People pointing out serious issues which is not really acceptable from the new bike.
It is sad because it was my favourite bike, but my confidence is gone with Aprilia
Man seriously have talked to someone who is unbiased that wrenches on bikes full time?
They all have faults flaws and issues. Don't make a damn who built it.
It's mechanical craps gonna happen.
I just bought a new Yamaha all kinds nitt picky stuff wrong, and gods honest truth it has the worst factory paint of any bike I've ever owned.
I repainted the entire bike, fixed the various bugs and ride the hell out of it now.
I love it, awesome bike.
not a V4
Thanks, corrected now.
Riders be aware! My rs660 started leaking oil since first couple weeks and it’s been down a the dealership for about 2 months now!! Called aprilia and they don’t seem to want to do anything about it! I have no idea what’s going on!!
👎👎👎 #rs660 #aprilia
Why people buy brands that are pure trash in terms of build quality is beyond me, especially when you have Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha.
No! Bikes with recals are not ok! It s a problem that should be addressed, why so normal a recall! More so if it s a conrod! Not acceptable mate
Sorry to rain on your parade, it’s not an RSV4 😂
Thanks, corrected now.
Expensive for a cheaply finished bike. None of my HDs dropped oil. My 2019 gsxs , faultless, better finished and engineered imho.
Was keen to get one of these. First off I couldn’t get a test ride. Then started seeing reports of faults. On the owners site always seems to be somebody posting about a fault. Now MCN just passing by apparent oil leak and none of the other magazines saying much either. Not confidence inspiring is it😕
Bridgestone are horrible on anything other than hot days.
Click bait!!!!!!!!! Wanted RSV4 not the 660
Thanks, corrected now.
Lol I thought he was like 14 years old
MCN is the benchmark however…..do they really really need to really really all the time? 🤔. More wheelies…less “reallys” please 🙏
For the price I don't think it's worth it
Budget bike clad with electric gizmos with a premium price tag, no thanx, better buy an old d675 for half the price.
Oil Leak. Bad Customer Service. You have been warned.
Please review RS 660
Weirdest video 🤷

Conclusion: Get a CBR650R.
If you're poor and can't afford a RS 660 that's a good conclusion.
@@22Epic 2 grand is peanuts. Its about having brains. Want Italian mid-range sports exotica? Get a Ducati Supersport or Panigale V2.
@@beingsolo80 You're missing "having a brain" part :D
Also the Supersport is a nice GT like the CBR 650R and the Panigale V2 is a real supersport unusable as a daily bike.
If you had a brain you will see that the RS 660 fill the gap between those 2 (and that's why it's so successful)
