Circling the drain is a medical term used during an operation...means "no matter how hard we try to save this man, he is most likely going to die."
This is probably just footage of Thom's first arrival on Earth
Alien Man.
he's a subterranean homesick alien?

This song sounds so desolate, eerie and maybe even otherworldly, yet it's so calming. It perfectly encapsulates the feeling of overwhelming loneliness. I love it.
Hi I recommend a new indie rock song called 'Looking Into The Mirror' By Robert Nix
Thom needs to score a sci-fi movie already.
Well he already scored a horror movie which was fucking perfect
Suspirium was so fucking good
Whoa.. spoke to soon... MOTHER SUPERIOR!

When you're Thom Yorke, making amazing music isn't enought: you also need amazing music videos.
every shot in this video could be hanging on my wall
Seriously
me too
haha, literally just ordered 20 prints taken from this video
just received one of the first shots from Anima Technologies in mail!
This comment is perfectly worded, I feel like it describes exactly how many others feel better than they(and I) would be able to describe it.
This guy is probably one of the most creative, inventive, complex minds of pop music today, a total genius
this is not pop. pop songs use 4-6 chords, predictible drums, and usually overly cliche lyrics. this... is not that. Anything but that, actually.
Pop music is both a genre and another way to state “popular music” ie a catch-all term for music that isn’t classical/jazz/experimental.
A real Yorke fan would know that pop is dead. It died an ugly death by back-catalogue.
When the astronaut (distant, impassive, observer) walks past all the drone-like people on fire and finally runs into another astronaut like himself, and then his horror when he's sees there are other astronauts who are also drone-like is just genius. It's like Thom is saying, you might be different, but you might be more like the people you've been observing than you think.
Nah bro
that’s exactly what i was also thinking
same theme as subterranean homesick alien
this might be my favorite music video ever
Brillant, indeed.
hell yea
Absolutely, it is exquisite. So much, so MUCH work of those talented artists. Bravo, just gorgeous!
Make a video about it then!) Ppl will love it for sure. PS: I really like your channel, u'r too slept on(
Idk man the not the news one is pretty poggers
This is the best audiovisual expression of that feeling you get when you start losing your grasp on reality when you fall into a severe depressive episode I have ever come across.
How each unit of the song has its own thing going, creating tension, but then somehow weaves together beautifully is just . . .
I don't know about you, but the little girl dancing gives me the chills.
The dancing girl on fire was disturbing.
@@numinous123 believe it or not I've seen a video of a girl dancing while flames were coming out of her eyeballs, I'm sure other people have seen it too, I saw it on Instagram

So true, not true for all artists. But true for him.

I have loved Radiohead since I was a youngling, a teenager in my bedroom around the age of 13, listening to their songs over and over again. Thom still moves me like no other artist can.
It’s just random noises with the pedo from Family Guy singing. Pretentious.
don't like it? Change the channel, Dickard
Deckard not sure what your problem is or why my comment triggered you enough you had to respond, but I hope you find peace soon.
@@KaneK1234 you know its art right? Thom Yorke didn't get this successful making "random noises" and sounding like the pedo from family guy, which, is not his normal singing voice. How about you develop an actual opinion about the song rather then degrading it to its simplest form like anything else. But at the end of the day, anything you don't like about it was probably done on purpose, such is how art works.
@@KaneK1234 You probably only listen to dull pop music right?
If you don't like Thom/Radiohead's music, why are you watching/listening?
No other artist has influenced me like Thom Yorke, the way he can capture raw feelings and communicate it in a song/video is crazy. Makes you feel more understood than any psychologist could

The music is so multi-layered. Beautiful and unsettling at the same time. Like a dream that's hard to wake up from. Night terrors. But Thom's voice is like some path to consciousness again. Stunning. The video superbly matches the music and its feeling...
I totally agree, thom yorke is one of the only people that can successfully pull something like this off.

This is the best music video ever made. Perfectly matches the anxiety inducing sounds.
It’s so weird, it’s calming and anxiety inducing at the same time
After experiencing certain things in life, I now identify with this song in a different way. So many people are wrapped up in their own existence and earthly worries. Many people fail to stop and look around at how weird this world we live in truly is. For some it doesn't matter. They'd rather stay oblivious. It's easy to feel alone. Or to feel like you are the only person who feels this way. But in reality you are not alone in feeling this way. To me, the black and white cements the feeling of duality. Although life is so much more than black and white. The vague shapes of people make you fill in the blanks. The astronaut is the observer, observing the swathes of unquestioning masses.

I listened to this album in its entirety recently when i couldn't get to sleep on an overnight ferry. I stood at my little cabin window for most of the time, looking out into the darkness of the sea. I could see the lights of other ships blinking in the distance, some were huge like little floating cities. It was a pretty cool experience and the music made me start to think of all these sci-fi like scenarios and stories in my head as I was in this weird sleepy state.

This song is everything I love... if i could ever write a song, be a composer, which i'm not but i am something else that is receptive to THAT... that's the thing i would do, that's the kind of music I would like to recreate from my mind. Not complete, but it reaches something in me. Fragment, structures, atoms, construction and realities, twisted and confused visions, troubled perceptions, shadows or/of species, comparison of human to rats (ants when i have some disconnected phases, but rats speaks a kind of a cynic truth), mirrors, lost, truth, where to find it, path present future all in one perception, what is true ? Or right ? That's why i feel connected to Thom Yorke. To a human, at least.
Thank you for existing.
I had never experienced music like this until I discovered Radiohead and Thom Yorke. It reaches another level of musical originality/complexity while also touching every part of my soul and mind. Could talk a lot about this but ill leave it at that

One major thing that makes the Thom Yorke experience so amazing are the artists, videographers, and cinematographers who bring their own interpretations into the mix.
Definitely
Of all the songs on the new album this is probably the one I would least expect to see a music video for, but I am so glad it got one because I loved this song from the moment I first heard the album.
And the video is absolutely gorgeous, easily the best one from Thom's solo work, even on parr with many of the best Radiohead videos
I'm glad music videos/shorts are still being produced for his/Radiohead projects, and I mean actual videos, not live performances.
Their music goes very well with visuals, maybe I would've appreciated TKOL if it had a few music videos instead of only one.

What may not make sense to you in your bubble may make perfect sense to someone else in theirs. It's about perspective.

Discovered Thom and Radiohead when I was a freshman in high school, and it has been the soundtrack of my life ever since
It’s odd isn’t it?
Wonderful. What's so great about him and Radiohead is that the meaning takes a long journey to form. I've listened to this song hundreds of times and I'm still not sure what it means to me. Even having a sick video to go with it doesn't make it worse, or better, or define it. It's not supposed to have a definition. It's art. I expect that some time years from now I will have a revelation and this song will take shape around it. Then I will have a specific meaning and interpretation for it and I'll realize that this is what it meant to me all along, through thousands of listenings and daydreams about it.
😍
You expressed my same feelings on this video and Song, if you think when It was composed, you understand how often atists they are prophets
It's that feeling of never really being given attention, spending a good amount if not your entire childhood watching the world go around as you about your life.
