I literally bumped into Thom Yorke in 2003 in a charity shop doorway in Oxford. We did the little synchronised left-right, no you go first shuffle. He was very short and looked pretty annoyed by the interaction. I fucking loved it.
I saw Thom Yorke in a grocery store in LA today. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn't want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, "Oh, like you're doing now?" I was taken aback, and all I could say was "Huh?" but he kept cutting me off and going "huh? huh? huh?" and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw Thom trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like "Sir, you need to pay for those first." At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually "to prevent any electrical infetterence," and then turned around and winked at me. I don't even think that's a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

This is a waltz thinking about our bodies What they mean for our salvation With only the clothes that we stand up in Just the ground on which we stand Is the darkness ours to take? Bathed in lightness, bathed in heat All is well, as long as we keep spinning Here and now, dancing behind a wall When the old songs and laughter we do Are forgiven always and never been true When I arrive, will you come and find me? I love how it sounds slightly familiar. Thom, and Radiohead in general, are really a part of my life now and listening to Thoms voice makes me feel like home. We are lucky for being alive while all of this is happening...
Never listened to Radiohead. Never heard of Thom Yorke before. And today I found a piece of this in a video on tiktok. Instantly loved it, searched and found the whole here on youtube. I never felt like that. Never felt into a song like this but today. Im still crying while listening to it maybe the 30th time. Im lost in this song forever.

This the most beautiful song, I’ve ever heard. No other person could sing it the way he did; no other voice will do. Since I first heard it, I’ve listened to it, on repeat, at least a thousand times. The sheer beauty of this song, brings peace to my soul, tears to my eyes, and music to my ears (pun intended).
@@galacticgam3r105 If this is the music that ends "Suspiria", then it is going to be just as heartwrenching as "Visions of Gideon" was at the climax of "Call Me by Your Name".
Creed It’s officially a re-make but the director has said he doesn’t conceive it as that, but as a re-imagining of it. Probably the production company made it called Suspiria to draw the audience. It seems to be nothing like the original. That masterpiece and style can’t be recreated. The director of the new one seems to acknowledge that and I respect that.
If you watch the trailer for this one it's immediately obvious that it's a pretty different movie. It looks like they kept the most basic aspects of the plot the same but almost everything else should change. I originally was really resistant to the idea of them remaking that movie, but seeing what they've done with it, I am curious to see how it turns out. As someone else said it looks less like a remake and more like a complete re-imagining of the story. I expect there may be one or two homages to the original but the overall style looks nothing like it. I am glad they didn't try to emulate Argento's style because that would just be pointless.
@@JesusGomez-ob2qt Some of it was interesting but overall I didn't like it very much. I didn't dislike it because it was different from the original - I didn't have too much trouble seeing it as its own thing. It just didn't really captivate me, and I found the final act of the film to be rather sloppy and just poor film making. To be fair, the finale of the original is weak compared to the rest of the film too. I do recommend people see it and make up their mind, but for me it was kind of disappointing.
Ive had this in my playlist a long time... but listening again years later... all I can say is "wow" his ability to switch between major and minor chords is haunting... 2:20... beautiful.
Most gifted musician to ever grace the earth, unfortunately it'll take for him to meet his maker before the world realises....but we'll have him a while longer thankyou very much 😌
nah ,m ever since he dropped music for others to hear we where a bunch understanding he had tapped into an important almost wordless worldore . its a true artist as you say others will realize too! hopefullly while thriving alive
Thom yorke doesn’t make particular musical genre. Thom Yorke is a musical genre. Bravo! Genius! The remake looks great with that cast and your brain in the soundtrack is... Oh dear! 😍
Thom York is definitly a gifted muscian, one of the best musicians ever and it's easy to see how much he contributed to radiohead. He's a real gift to our world and a reminder for everyone how importent it is accepting human beings since Thom himself has a small handycap.
I've always believed the piano was where Thom really was the most beautiful and creative sometimes in the simplest of ways. Pyramid Song, Like Spinning Plates, Codex to name a few. Sit Down Stand Up is masterful.. to be able to sing like that and still keep the piano in rhythm with the electronic beat is otherworldly. One of my all time favorite songs, and one of Radioheads most underrated as well.
Completely underrated song, completely underrated film. Very disappointed by the low reviews on IMDB etc., this film is fantastic (so long as you can find subtitles).

Magnetically Magestic on the ears and soul.
Atari Harikari LoL with all those other bands how have you not heard Radiohead. Cool bands btw Pink Floyd and The Doors are the best. Check out hearing damage by Thom Yorke
The first and only song I've ever found that has me inconsolably sobbing every time, I can't hold back the tears at all. The melody both nurturing and yet somehow unscrupulous. Coincided, by design, to convey terror and comfort. Great movie, and the soundtrack is the beating heart stitched into the whole endeavor.
The woman I love for my whole life gifted me this song this evening, thank you. I do not care of what future will give us. thank for the miracle of your existence.
"keep dancing, it's beautiful" edit: everytime i remember this scene, i instantly get chills, it's one of the main inspirations for me to become an film-maker
Thom Yorke and The Radioheads are surely a certainty for Best Newcomers 2018. You can hear how much they were influenced by Coldplay and Muse in most of their songs.
The more I think about this movie, the more I realize how good it really was. Outstanding performances by all. Tilda S - incredible. Dakota J ...we will see her again at awards ceremonies. The cinematography was dead perfect. And of course this hauntingly beautiful song that never lets you go.
I liked the movie a lot! I'd just be lying if I said I understood it😭 like I got it that they were using the girls to do rituals, I just wasnt understanding the rituals the way I feel like I should've lol
Played this just once for my 83 yr old mother and she loved the unique chord structures. It hooked me in one playback also. Unique songwriting... what a gift.
Thom helps me feel feelings I've never felt before or havent felt in ages. It's like being in love, but deeper, stronger. And then again its not, its a walk through a forest you've never walked. Theres a surprise behind every tree.
Wow! what a vibe I am getting... it's out of this world...I feel like I am floating in the universe and drifting towards the unknown, passing stars, galaxies, millions and millions of light years away....Thank you Thom sir for making me feel like this.
I don't think he'd care actually. Radiohead just got inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame and they just went "lol k" They're really not doing this for prizes and I think that speaks volumes on what good musicians really strive for in life
@Jim Bob The powers that be talk about "Shallow" from "A Star is Born" as a shoe-in to win. But it sounds so generic, indistinct and imperfect compares to anything any member of Radiohead has come up with for 24 years.
Im listening to it over and over again since the day it came out.I can now say it's one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. It makes me calm, it's one of these songs you cant just play on the background. You have to give it your full attention every time,it just take over all your senses in the moment. The melody of the song is magical,Thom's voice is unreal, his effortless singing is perfect..I love this song with every cell of my body
this song, as well as the movie, is a warm hand on my cheek. I love horror, but never have I felt this love and comfort and awe. i watched suspiria (both versions back to back) around the beginning of initial quarantine and it will long remain my all-time favorite
I can't believe... 6 years. I remember going to cinema to watch Suspiria. I wasn't in a good mental shape and this song just hit me through my soul. Now i feel better, the dark days are gone but everytime i stumble upon this song it's on a loop. I feel the pain i felt back then, and strangely i enjoy that pain. It takes me back to the dark autumn morning, rainy streets with the faint smell of kebab stall and people rushing to the metro station to work
Blake Stebbe it's funny because I wrote it that way initially, but my computer didn't recognize the spelling. I then looked it up only to find out that apparently there are several spellings of the word. You learn something new every day
Such an artist... tho i’m korean and have no deep understand about western culture, i could always find some true beauty in thom yorke’s song.... always respect him
understanding western culture is no different than most of world...we work, study, eat, sleep try to provide a roof over are heads & for our familys and the most important find meaning to life as an individual and last but not least LOVE.
I did not search for lyrics in any song until very recently, prefer to translate their meaning by half understood english and the music/mood. If the art is true, it finds a way to talk to you across boundaries. Can you point a westerner to something similarly beautiful in korean culture?
I can't say this about any other Thom or Radiohead head song, and I absolutely adore them.. This song broke the mold for me by being a love at first listen. Usually his songs take awhile to grow on me. This masterpiece however, I was instantly hooked. Definitely in my top 10 of most beautiful songs I've ever heard ❤
my thoughts exactly, it's only 'till very recently that I've discovered Thom Yorke this year-and i adore all of his songs. even when i know it isn't _exactly_ my taste (tonally/musically speaking, can't really summarize what i mean briefly, but basically there's a certain set of instruments, key signatures, pitches-certain _details_ that make up a song that _really_ draw me in), his songs eventually grow on me. in fact, i'm pretty sure his songs at first didn't "click" with me, but i remember giving his songs a listen _again_ when i stumbled upon this song... and, well-similarly to you, i instantly fell in love with this song. finally, i'm taking a jab into Radiohead songs (abysmally late to the party-i know lol)-it's slowly becoming one of my new favourite bands and i'm mentally scolding at myself of how i never bothered to listen to him and Radiohead sooner! but hey, better late than never.
This is a waltz thinking about our bodies - Questo è un valzer che pensa ai nostri corpi What they mean for our salvation - Quello che significano per la nostra salvezza With only the clothes that we stand up in - Con solo i vestiti con cui ci alziamo Just the ground on which we stand - Solo il terreno su cui stiamo Is the darkness ours to take? - L’oscurità è nostra da prendere? Bathed in lightness, bathed in heat - Bagnato nella leggerezza, immerso nel calore All is well, as long as we keep spinning - Tutto va bene, finché continuiamo a girare Here and now, dancing behind a wall - Qui e ora, ballando dietro un muro When the old songs and laughter we do - Quando le vecchie canzoni e le risate facciamo Are forgiven always and never been true - Sono perdonati sempre e mai stati veri When I arrive, will you come and find me? - Quando arriverò, verrai a trovarmi? Or in a crowd, be one of them? - O in una folla, sarai uno di loro? Wore the wrong sign back beside her - Portava il segno sbagliato accanto a lei Know tomorrow’s at peace - So che il domani è in pace
Great translation! That said, as a native English speaker I don't think "lightness" means "leggerezza" in this context - maybe I'm interpreting it wrong, but based on "darkness" in the previous line I believe that "lightness" is referring not to weight, but to light (luce), and so it would be better to say 'illuminazione' or 'luminosita'. Either that, or it's actually meant to be ambiguous in English, in which case either translation is fine xP.
Bathrobe Warrior Absolutely correct! Bathed in lightness and heat makes perfect sense because he’s implicitly referring to the Sun. I believe “immersi nella luce, immersi nel calore” would fit better, also plural.
i was walking home while it was snowing heavily tonight and i came across this piece. hearing "all is well, as long as we keep spinning" line made me feel a lot of things at once.
You think you love this song now? Wait until you've listened to it like 3,000 times in a row. I've just learned from first hand experience you'll love it 3,000 times more than you love it now.
Ahhhh takes me back to when they released Burn the Witch. I must have listened to that a million times before the second single dropped. Then it was nice to add a second song to the mix.
Do you ever listen to some of Thom's stuff and think, but you're not able to specifically pin down what it is you're thinking about? That's what I mean. There is something unexplainable here
_A Mother is a woman who can take the place of all others,_ _but whose place no one else can take._ I remember listening to this for the first time in the movie. A shot of a bleak rural environment. The sound of labored breathing. A middled-aged woman, sick in her death bed surrounded by women taking care of her in her final hours. Trying to make her exit from this world a bit more comfortable. I didn't like the movie but I loved that particular sequence. I don't know why but the music was so fitting for it. I kept rewinding and rewatching. Absorbing the music, sound, and visuals.
Calin Petrescu that’s actually clever. Imagine if after 10 views of the same video it allows you to click ‘love’ and after 50 views it allows you to click ‘obsessed’ I must be on over 50 views on this video.

I am a HUGE fan of the original Suspiria, and my excitement for the remake increased 150% when I heard Thom was doing the soundtrack.
@@Creed1317 That's correct. It's a remake of the original Argento film.
@@masterchain3335 three years later, what are your thoughts on the remake?
@@JesusGomez-ob2qt Some of it was interesting but overall I didn't like it very much. I didn't dislike it because it was different from the original - I didn't have too much trouble seeing it as its own thing. It just didn't really captivate me, and I found the final act of the film to be rather sloppy and just poor film making. To be fair, the finale of the original is weak compared to the rest of the film too. I do recommend people see it and make up their mind, but for me it was kind of disappointing.
This made me tear up and I don't know if because I'm sad, happy or just mesmerized. Thom Yorke you amazing beast.

One of my all time favorite songs, and one of Radioheads most underrated as well.

this song, as well as the movie, is a warm hand on my cheek. I love horror, but never have I felt this love and comfort and awe. i watched suspiria (both versions back to back) around the beginning of initial quarantine and it will long remain my all-time favorite

Sometimes less is more ....
Yea man we've got some pretty cool music, but you'll have go looking in order to find it.
Western is pretty much every other culture but with more calories.

This is a waltz thinking about our bodies - Questo è un valzer che pensa ai nostri corpi
What they mean for our salvation - Quello che significano per la nostra salvezza
With only the clothes that we stand up in - Con solo i vestiti con cui ci alziamo
Just the ground on which we stand - Solo il terreno su cui stiamo
Is the darkness ours to take? - L’oscurità è nostra da prendere?
Bathed in lightness, bathed in heat - Bagnato nella leggerezza, immerso nel calore
All is well, as long as we keep spinning - Tutto va bene, finché continuiamo a girare
Here and now, dancing behind a wall - Qui e ora, ballando dietro un muro
When the old songs and laughter we do - Quando le vecchie canzoni e le risate facciamo
Are forgiven always and never been true - Sono perdonati sempre e mai stati veri
When I arrive, will you come and find me? - Quando arriverò, verrai a trovarmi?
Or in a crowd, be one of them? - O in una folla, sarai uno di loro?
Wore the wrong sign back beside her - Portava il segno sbagliato accanto a lei
Know tomorrow’s at peace - So che il domani è in pace
Grazie!
Grazie tantee

_A Mother is a woman who can take the place of all others,_
_but whose place no one else can take._
I remember listening to this for the first time in the movie.
