Layered, complex, and beautiful. I can listen to the radio for hours and nothing grabs my attention. I hear a song like this and I connect with it immediately. Never stop, Thom. I've been listening since 1999.
The fact that someone who dressed as Kurt Cobain and did the infamous MTV Beach House performance is the same person who made this, shows incredible growth as an artist.
On the off chance Thom sees this, your lyrics and your music have assured me that I am not alone in feeling the world is at once beautiful, terrifying, and absurd. You elucidate with such simple yet poignant elegance what so many of us cannot, and lift us above the labyrinth to see what lies around us and beyond. Thank you for sharing your talents, your vulnerability, and your ability to define the ineffable mesh we all coexist within. Love, Aimee.
"Every man whose business it is to think knows that he must for part of the day create about himself a pool of silence. But in that helter-skelter which we flatter by the name of civilization, the citizen performs the perilous business of government under the worst possible conditions. A faint recognition of this truth inspires the movement for a shorter work day, for longer vacations, for light, air, order, sunlight and dignity in factories and offices. But if the intellectual quality of our life is to be improved that is only the merest beginning. So long as so many jobs are an endless and, for the worker, an aimless routine, a kind of automatism using one set of muscles in one monotonous pattern, his whole life will tend towards an automatism using one set of muscles in one monotonous pattern, his whole life will tend towards an automatism in which nothing is particularly to be distinguished from anything else unless it is announced with a thunderclap. So long as he is physically imprisoned in crowds by day and even by night his attention will flicker and relax. It will not hold fast and define clearly where he is the victim of all sorts of pother, in a home which needs to be ventilated of its welter of drudgery, shrieking children, raucous assertions, indigestible food, bad air, and suffocating ornament. Occasionally perhaps we enter a building which is composed and spacious; we go to a theatre where modern stagecraft has cut away distraction, or go to sea, or into a quiet place, and we remember how cluttered, how capricious, how superfluous and clamorous is the ordinary urban life of our time. We learn to understand why our addled minds seize so little with precision, why they are caught up and tossed about in a kind of tarantella by headlines and catch-words, why so often they cannot tell things apart or discern identity in apparent differences." - Walter Lippmann, Public Opinion (1922)

So many artists that I loved sold out to pop and/or they got lazy - their music lost its magic. But Thom’s music just goes deeper, expands, grows more magical, and blooms with more beauty and mysticism. Like the best art and the best spirits, it gets better with age. I can return to his older music and find it all the more compelling and profound every time I listen. For the last 20+ years Thom’s voice has beckoned me in to the deep, to an enchanted universe where I have discovered the beauty of all things. Thom’s voice has always comforted me in my solitude, kindly affirming that I am not as alone as I feel, his words giving empathy, wisdom, spiritual guidance, and connection. Every new song is imbued with even more of the same, with ever evolving richness. I feel so fortunate that I to get to experience music and art in a time that Thom is here to bless us with his other worldly gift. And the fact that God put him on earth next to Johnny, et al. is enough proof for me that the most amazing, lovely, and powerful things in this world are certainly by intelligent design.
Thom must be living on about 3 hours sleep a night. 2 albums in 2 years. 2nd world tour in 2 years. Solo album Anima not long before that. Radiohead reforming next year. Man never stops.
Existence is ordinary until you stumble upon the art that Thom shares with us, and it pulverizes you. I wish I could immerse myself in his music, build a little house in the music, and stay there forever.
I’m so fascinated by this score tbh. A huge shift in style from thom. I’m so used to Jonny being the big orchestral score guy. I’m excited that thom continues to experiment and expand with his own capabilities as an artist. I’m telling you, the sky is the limit with this guy
I love music videos where the audio from the story happening on-screen seeps in. Reminds me of 90s music videos like Karmacoma by Massive Attack. Fantastic song as well. I will always be a fan of Thom Yorke.

I never thought that I would see it, but this is very close to a perfect rendition of every anxiety dream I have almost nightly ... Inevitably I wake up out of breath and exhausted. It's fun being me.
Excellent.....Thom is deeply in touch with the Universe. What a gift. It would be fantastic if Thom could throw a track in the up and coming DUNE Messiah.
I obviously dont know what inspired the visuals and symbolism in this poignant piece, but personally Im seeing such strong references to Sisyphus, the neverending cycle of climbing up and being tumbled back down, but by what boulder? fears? depression? negativity? (Im so curious about what the mural at the top of the stairs is, anyone?) - I love the lemons as they immediately take me back to Everything in its Right Place. then theres the Amore and Paura (love, fear?) on the board, how many times do we ricochet between those two worlds? and perhaps the strongest visual of all that the lyrics place in my head are Escher's amazing piece "Ascending and Descending" , it almost feels like this song encapsulates the emotion of that Escherian space.. If we ever get out, do we still just end up being the everyday? like Sisyphus?
Did some googling and it seems the fresco on the wall is "The Meeting of Leo the Great and Attila" , and what I get from that after reading the context is that violence cannot be resolved into peace, and fear cannot subside to reach love, unless someone does something about it...?
@@Im-not-here-anymore I think you are right-the gentleman at the end of the pictorial narrative opted to close himself into a cardboard box than face up.

Do forgive me for preaching to the choir. I honestly don't mean to. Just need to get this off my chest: I find it hard to see Mr. Yorke as a musician, although he obviously is. To me, he's a total shaman. In fact, the most brillinat music shaman around. And his approach to channeling musical spirits never fails to fascinate. What a marvel of an instrument he is. Unspeakably grateful for him. Thom - thanks for choosing Earth.

This is how I see my dad... We're all just calmly looking and listening at what's happening with curiosity, but he doesn't, it gets him mad. I don't think you understand what this clip is about. You never considered putting yourself in the man's shoes, you're the camera he's yelling at and hiding from. That's why you see your dad here. I can see myself, it's uncanny.
we love you so much thom, you're such a kind person. sorry, i'm not good at putting subjective things into words, but just know that almost all of your personality traits are positive. i can't think of any negatives, but nobody's perfect, so there's probably something. definitely way less negatives and way more positives than most people, though. tell all the members of the smile, atoms for peace, and radiohead that we love them just as much.
Entropy. Living with a busy mind. Comfort, rest and clarity ignored. Fear. A world of memory and understanding through the material rather than the spiritual.
Such a Yorkian narrative! Menaced by the intrusive view of the camera, terrified, he hides in the box. The next time, he is furious that this is happening to him, but he still has not ability to defy his persecutor.
I don't know, but i have to watch the video at least twice tines to get the point, that's what i like from Thom Yorke videos and radiohead, they are not easy piece! Great song.

I don't think you understand what this clip is about. You never considered putting yourself in the man's shoes, you're the camera he's yelling at and hiding from. That's why you see your dad here. I can see myself, it's uncanny.
My favorite song of the soundtrack.
Thom’s talent is on a different level.
we love you so much thom, you're such a kind person. sorry, i'm not good at putting subjective things into words, but just know that almost all of your personality traits are positive. i can't think of any negatives, but nobody's perfect, so there's probably something. definitely way less negatives and way more positives than most people, though. tell all the members of the smile, atoms for peace, and radiohead that we love them just as much.
Thank you, Thom. You give the voices in my head company.
Thom, if you keep going forward soon we won't be able to see you...Thanks for the breadcrumbs
Always intriguing music and videos from Thom🎶🎵😎
Very happy to see Thom Yorke creating classical music
This song is brilliant, also this video hits different if you’re Italian
That was very kind of you to share yourself...

Oh god damn now i really got to watch that film. Thanks a lot Thom
A very different theme from his usual piano or guitar-driven approach in songs. The vocal style compliments the lyrics sooo well

Entropy. Living with a busy mind. Comfort, rest and clarity ignored. Fear. A world of memory and understanding through the material rather than the spiritual.
Thank you Thom for being one of a kind! 👽💎💙🌠
❤❤❤ sounds great as always! Bravo!
Such a Yorkian narrative! Menaced by the intrusive view of the camera, terrified, he hides in the box. The next time, he is furious that this is happening to him, but he still has not ability to defy his persecutor.
That was one of the quickest 5 minutes ever 💙🔥
Thank you, Thom. I needed that.
Daydreaming and rabbit in the highlines are here! Same story? Fkn love it! 🖤✨
