Finally getting a chance to install the OEM Lexus illuminated door sills I've had for a while
Pretty straight forward install. Comment if you have any questions.

For removal of interior panels, it is good to have your basic tools such as sockets,. ratchet and screwdriver, BUT also a good plastic pry tool set.

Hey dude, I just bought a new 2018 IS F-Sport. Soooo glad I randomly came across your chan while on TH-cam (it was in my recommended). Anyways, just wanted to say you’re awesome - you’ve made a lotta tasteful mods that I’m considering doing myself. Thank you for the video. You saved me $350!! I have a 2018 RC300 F Sport, so my door sills were a little bit different, but the wiring concept was the same. I just finished installing them and they look good. Once again, thank you for the knowledge and the video.

First off, thanks for your video . That’s a big help . I was asking a Lexus dealership to do it for me, they will charge 500 or up for the labor and tools fees. It doesn’t come with parts yet. But I will do it by myself after I watch your video.
I also want to ask you something.
I currently have an is 250 2015. Is that okay if we can upgrade a display screen of is 250 2018 for the is 250 2015. The the new display 2018 seems have more functions and wider than the old version right
Can we also upgrade the red tail light is 250 2018 for is 250 2015 .
Can we do anything to let the mirror sides close and open automatically when we turn lock or unlock the car
One more question, where do get get the little red thing that you call “ tee tap” or something like that . Thanks again !
You cannot upgrade just the display, you need to also change out the headunit as well to support the wider screen resolution. Then in order to fit the New stereo, you need new pieces surrounding it such as HVAC panel and knee rest panels. The T-Tap should be included in the kit i believe, I dont remember too clearly but if not you can get it at local small Electronic or Auto Parts store typically.

I have a 2014 LS460 do you think the wiring would be the same haven’t been able to figure out how to wire them up?
Easy if you have a lightning sill before' just connect the cables from the old to the new sill
The third generation Lexus IS never came with illuminated door sills from the factory, they were always added either by owner or dealerships/port

My passenger side sill does not turn off when door actuator is pressed but drivers side does. Can anyone help?
I would double check your connection and test the wire with a voltage meter tool
That “thingy” you called, which is a LED where do you buy that? Because when I ordered my illuminated door sills it didn’t come with it! 😅

Maybe there were some revisions of these illuminated door sills that have it built in.
I know that other Lexus Models I've never seen the LED "thingy" before.

It's a a thin gauge wire, Use red color T-tap

After installing on my 3is, my side marker lights on my headlights stay on for about 15 minutes whenever I open or close the doors or after turning the vehicle off.
Any idea what it could be?
You might want to recheck anything you came nearby, the wires you tapped are only for interior light and should not effect the parking lights in headlights. Make sure everything is plugged in secure and solid
Do you plan on doing on to include the 2018 and 2019Lexus LC 500?

+Dave P the rears is just metal plate finish included. no light up Lexus logo. No Lexus logo at all actually. Just snap off original and snap on new one
Yea I was wondering if we could add led to those since I see Aliexpress selling a 4 set...wonder where I can tap in those.
You couldn't add LED to the OEM ones but if you wanted to install the Aliexpress ones you'd want to find the door trigger wire for that particular door and tap into that wire.
He stated in the vid that he had another video showing how to change the color of the LED light in the sills, but I don't see it anywhere? Anyone know what video it is?

Just curious I purchased the door sills from amazon, but was wondering if the T tap was included with the purchase from the link in your description.
They typically supply different type of wire taps. The one in the video I use instead is something I have in my inventory and I prefer because I work with wiring on daily

Just goto your local auto parts store, they will sell it in the electronic connector section.
How hard do you have to push the tab in for the connectors I’m having difficulties getting it out

Never seen it sold separately. It's part of the kit when I bought mines

unfortunately there is not any wiring in place already from factory to make this plug and play for the 3rd generation Lexus IS
Oh and btw, do you still have ur original door sills?
Original door sill is back on the car itself and the car is gone now

They don't stay one while driving. They turn off when the door is closed. You can't see them when the door is closed anyways

Should be similar wiring hookup.
Can I ask you something more about setup illuminated for the Lexus IS 250. I just got a part from a Lexus dealer. But the thing I got from them way different from you except the illuminated bars. The T-tap is bigger. And they don’t have the connector for the driver harness .
Ken Huynh might be different type of connector tap (look up other views of connector tap and how to use them) but wiring you would tap to in the car should be the same.
specONE my part that I got from a Lexus dealership didn’t have that kind of your T-tap( you have 2 little things ) . My t-Tap just have only one. I just need to put 2 cables actors together then t-Tap them. Everything is works fine now. Thank you again.

should be the same install, wire plugs might be different, couldnt help you there though. maybe the plug is mirrored

But the link to eBay, the part number is PT942-53160, and I found that is not the exactly same installation(passenger side, the PT942-53140 t-tap on the the green wire(CTY[-], pin6), but on PT942-53160, changed to the violet wire(CTY[-], pin9). Which part should I buy? Thank you!
I think both part numbers apply still. Sometimes they change part numbers when they change manufacturer of the part so they can tell difference. +Li Ge again I cannot comment on that. I only show what was the case in my car, you can use that as reference. Might not be the same for everyone
did you disconnect the battery?
I dont disconnect battery as I want to be able to test voltage of wires. If you feel more comfortable disconnecting battery, recommend doing so.
will it work on is300 2016?
Yup, it'll work on a 2016 IS300. Same parts
