you got this! just gotta do it slow and take your time.
Try replacing engine mounts, then have that fear the engine will tear out or come loose.
It’s actually a shock that only a few fasteners hold this huge bumper in place.
@@mikeschiavoni5973 once you removed and replaced them and torque them you should be just fine, did my son's on his RSX and it was a breeze.

Yes it's possible, you need the grill along with the bumper for the swap.
Thanks for the video. Informative. Get some old military wool blankets to put on the ground to protect the bumper paint. Theyre good and strong so they will survive light work with no problems. Maybe $15-20 at a surplus store.

Yes you will need to remove bumper to change the grill out. I explain what needs to be done how to remove grill . It's a lot of time to remove the grill. Its self explanatory once bumper is off

Hi thanks for the informative vid. I have to remove my bumper for the same reasons but my gap is a lot more noticeable. My first time taking off my bumper on my Lexus. My question is after you remove the bolts and clips and have the bumper ready to pull off, are quickly pulling the sides of the bumper to release it from the rest of the body or should it be in a slow motion so you don’t yank too hard or too fast ? Asking so I don’t break the clips as you mentioned.
Just a light tug. Imagine you’re the clip; which way you should be pulled off

Going back on is opposite of removal. Just a tad harder because you have to make sure it's all lined up before clipping it back into place
Rodney Au I just bought a cpo 17 nx - just noticed that it has a huge gap on the left bumper. Should I be worried whether there was any work/damage on the bumper before or is this common to see in Lexus and just a quick fix that the dealer or a mechanic can do?

Can you do a video on changing the headlight bulbs. I pulled my lights and there was nothing to remove to install bulbs maybe the whole back is a cover IDK
If your headlamps look like ones I have on the video , then you are unable to change bulbs. They are not serviceable and are LED lights that are soldered into place. If the light are not working, then the entire headlamp needs to be replaced

Thanks for the Video! Can you confirm that the DRL (Daytime Running Lights), shaped like the Nike logo, can only be replaced after you remove the bumper? My right side DRL is out. I don't think it's a fuse because I believe a blown fuse would cause both sides to go out. Thanks! -Hank
Yes those DRL can only come off after the bumper is removed from the vehicle
I'm also having the same problem I got the same foglights as you the dealer wants to charge me like $525 they blame the foglights for the daylight running light out but they are seperate wiring and everything
@danny, not sure how to help you have the OEM JDM ones ? who installed them? where was wire tapped? for the Day time rnning lights out, is it out during the day or only out when headlights are on?

You will have to remove the bumper off the vehicle to reach some of the screws that hold the grill to the bumper

Hey Rodney thank you so much. I need to take my bumper off,to fix my DRLs due to some oxidation or whatever is wrong with them. Gonna sand em and all that. This video helped alot. When putting it back on, it's just the top part and side that need to click back on right?
Just where the fender meets the bumper where it needs to "click" back into place. But make sure the bottom portion of the bumper is in place, that's the area to watch out for when reinstalling. The tricky part

I heard some cars actually have wiring in the car, just need to get the switch on steering column replaced with one with foglight switch. Search the Clublexus forum for more details
depending on the fog light. I know for the JDMtoys fog light you just have to turn the wheel and remove the three front bumper tabs. It will provide enough space to work with. This method will only work if you are tapping on the existing rdl wires.
Michael it looks like that's the path I'll be taking. Have you seen anyone tried to fit the new IS bumper? I feel it has a more aggressive styling, what are your thoughts?
you mean the 2017 model? As for me, i purchase my car at the end of 2016 so i had an opportunity to get the 2016 or 2017 model. I really like the 2016 model haha. I like the front of the 2016 and rear of the 2017 model haha

The fsport grill will not fit a base model bumper

Yup, the Bumper has to be removed in order to get the DRL off the car.

Thanks for the clear concise video. I am having a little trouble with a base is250 headlight. It goes on a bit less bright and then goes out a few seconds later. 1. Is it hid? 2. If so does it sound like a ballast?
You're welcome. I think in your situation it might be a bad bulb. I would replace that first before looking at the ballast. A bulb would be cheaper to replace than that ballast anyways

Are the front grills interchangeable with ALL IS models? I want to switch my grill to the F Sport mesh grill but am afraid that the clips are different.
Fsport grill only fits fsport bumper. Regular grill only fits regular bumper. They are not interchangeable. This goes for 2014-2016 Lexus IS models

They may look the same but they are not the same. the front badge I am unsure how to take off. I am sure it is probably self explanatory once you get to the rear of the grill where the emblem attaches

Yeah you will have to take the front bumper off, if you can get the bumper off you should be able to see the bolts holding the headlamp into place at that point. Should be about three or four 10mm bolts for each headlight
hello and thanks for the videos but I assumed since you have led twin headlights, what do you know about replacing the led's rather than buying a new headlight? currently my is350fsport driver low beam doesn't work and I can't find anything regarding replacing the led's.
Can't replace, it's not a serviceable headlamp. If led goes bad, need a whole new headlamp housing

Was never able to get rid of the gap. I caulk it up to guide tabs under the headlights missing/broken probably causing the sag and the gaps where the fender and bumper meet up

You can try taking out the turn signal light bulb and let it try to air out with like a blow dryer. But there is chance that there is a crack on the housing and it will keep happening.

Yes you must remove bumper to get the LED check light out. It I mounted at the rear of bumper

Fog lights already installed on my car so I wouldn't want to redo it on this one.

yes they will snap back into place as long as the tabs didnt break when removing the bumper
Are the tabs and clips that need to be replaced to align things properly only on the fender. ....or is there second part of the clip that is on bumper that needs replacing as well. Meaning both fender and bumper need tabs on each side. Or bumper tabs fine, just the fender tabs crooked?
I would have never done that....that gap you mention between fender and bumper cover is nothing....it looks normal to me....nobody is going to see that or think it's messed up

I don't like how the side skirts comes in pieces instead of one whole piece. Is the line that connects the pieces noticeable? From close up? Far away?
The cutoff of the two pieces of the sideskirts is right where the front and back door meets in the middle. Is that line noticeable? They designed it in such a way at least some thought was put into it.

Seems as if putting the bumper on is harder than taking it off. When going to screw back in the 10mm screws, nothing lines up. Like the liner on the bottom, bumper, and the hole the screw is supposed to go into. Any help?

You would need to buy whole new bumper and the grill to get this look. the front bumper grill opening between base and the Fsport is different

I think you can. but you have to at least remove the shroud on top under the hood to give you some room to get to the back of the emblem

Yes you can, but you'll break the plastic tabs on the top of emblem backing. You can use 3M tape to help secure the emblem back on after.

The whole bumper needs to be swapped to fit a fsport grill. The two are not interchangeable

never actually figured it out. My assumption is that maybe some alignment tabs on the bottom of the headlight snapped off so it allows the bumper to sag a a bit and thus the ugly gap between the fender and bumper

Sorry I have never had that light come up. Do you have coilovers or lowering springs installed ? I would maybe check the height sensors for the headlights system that is attached to suspension if it has been touched before

How do you remove the connectors for the LED light strips on the bumper? It seems extremely tight to unclip the connectors.
yes it is tight so it doesnt come loose by accident. You need to press the release tab harder or use a pick or small screw driver to help lift up the release tab.

I want to replace the lower radiator molding on my 2019 IS350, it's the horizontal black chrome piece that sits just below the radiator. Do you think I'd have to remove the bumper to do that?
You mean lower trim piece on the front bumper? I do not know if you can easily unclip it without removing the bumper. From my experience with other trims on cars would be you have to get to the back of the bumper and that may require removal to do
@@specONE Yeah, it's the lower trim piece.If you look up part number 53122-53100 on Lexus parts search, it's this long rectangular piece of plastic trim that has a number of clips on the back. It fits immediately below the radiator, and it's a black chrome color.

I didn't have any sonar sensors on bumper so can't comment on how to get around them. Not sure how they are connected via wire harness

no the DRL for 2016 would be different than 2017. The bumpers changed in 2017 IS model

No it won't. The two cars are two different generations so body parts aren't shared. You can find aftermarket companies making bumper for older IS to make it look like the newer one.
Can u do one for taking out just the grill?
The grill is very hard to remove from the bumper, need to first take the bumper off, then undo some phillip screws and release a lot of plastic retaining clips all at the same time for it to pop out of the bumper

If you have dual LED projectors that looks like mines, you can't. The whole headlamp has to be replaced if there is something wrong. The expective life of LED should outlast ownership of car. Sounds like something got wet inside maybe if only one headlamp stopped working. I would also check for fuses to make sure they are not blown.
specONE i have the “IS 300h” (2014) The left low beam starts to flicker and some times doesn’t work but i don’t get any warning light on the dash board. I have to switch the lights on and off to stop the flickering. And it’s only the left headlight. (I assumed it needs changing)

Hood and fenders are the same. Only headlights and bumper need to be swapped. Hardest part is the wiring change out to support new headlamps. There are CANbus wires running to the new configuration that is not on the headlight harness of the 14-16 year models
