  • The new Buick Envista charges to market with a $23k base price, sharp looks, and a spacious interior. And it makes sense under $27k. But this $31k Avenir, still without the sunroof option, left me wanting just a bit more for the price. An AWD option, maybe just 40-60 more HP, and well.. that fixes a lot of the issues.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🏁 [@Alllcarnews Spec sheet] The Envista in the US comes with one engine: a 1.2L. Turbo Inline-3 paired to a 6-speed auto making 137HP and 162 lb-ft of torque. It can return Combined/City/Highway: 30/28/32 mpg 🏁
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
+The looks are striking. It, visually, looks $10k-$15k more expensive. And that’s the point.
+Generally, the Envista is well packed, especially in terms of Avenir trim. Wireless CarPlay, a digital cluster, swoops interior shapes, increases sound insulation, and an upgraded Watts Link rear suspension improve comfort over a Trax or a base Envista.
+Interior passenger space is very impressive with huge rear leg room and still 21 cubic feet of cargo room.
-The interior materials can be iffy in a few areas. The rear taillight was filled with condensation on my tester. My phone randomly disconnected from CarPlay a bit.
-The engine simply needs MORE power, or at least a hybrid offering. 137HP these days, and fort US highways, can feel lethargic at times.
    7.5/10

It's nice that the designers did so much detailing in this thing being it's an entry level vehicle.

Yeah it’s a lot of styling effort for entry level

All Avenir models should have dual climate controls, power passenger seat, rear vents, soft rear door materials, and sliding sun shades. In Asia, you get dual screen instrument panels, 360 degree cameras, and more. In America, "Avenir" means little.

Thanks for the great review... I took delivery of an Ocean Blue Avenir example 2 weeks ago and I'm absolutely loving it. A truly great car, and not just for the money. It really does feel genuinely premium. Drives surprisingly well and is surprisingly quiet. The wireless android/apple integration is also pretty amazing.

That color is a banger. They look even better in person. Would be even better v6/awd

That would put the price of this in the $40,000 range. It’s Buick’s entry-level vehicle and having this 3-cylinder is a reason the price for a max loaded Avenir does not exceed past $32,500.

@@Cerby1979 the 4cyl Acadia SLT is $42,495 MSRP and $42,990 for 3.6L V6, making the V6 $495 more expensive. Same on the Denali trim level. So before you pull things out of an orifice at least be factual about it

Turbo 4. This car is way too small for a v6

Really good review on the new Envista. . And thanks for pointing out the Watts link suspension. And agree. AWD is over rated. We been driving cars with snow tires with rear wheel in Rochester NY in 70s and 80s before the first Honda Accords arrive and after Cadillac Eldorados and Buick Rivieras front wheel drive GM cars. Front wheel drive is good enough in most snow storms with the engine weight on good snow tires on front & rear (Not All-Season) tires with grip.. Peace & Cheers.

Glad you enjoyed! And I actually got to drive this in some mild light snow down in southern NY and really didn’t have any issues. Traction is fairly good on these.

Thanks for the review, given you have tested both this and the Trax and if it was you buying with your money which would you buy?
My wife and I are both seniors so a budget friendly car is important.
We would want to be at most around $25,000 any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you!

Of course! I would say the Envista is more comfortable to ride around it, it has a softer suspension and a slightly quieter interior.
The Trax is a bit more lively to drive and is slightly stiffer. The Trax is also more of a SUV style shape and offers very mildly more rear cargo room, thought the difference isn’t big at all.
Both the Trax and Envista share everything else from the engine, infotainment, technology and general materials. At that point it is largely up to styling preferences and ride quality!

I'm considering doing the current Buick lease 24month. My 2015 is way passed being paid for. I'm retired too. Drove Pontiacs and Dodges in high school and college. Only concern is the wet timing belt vs a timing chain. I drove my 2001 Jetta GL, 5 sp, roll up windows for 120kmi. Have less than 50k on my Camry so big deal to me to trade. Envista looks like a winner. GM-Korea is putting out competive cars.

But why is there no IIHS crash test rating yet? That’s a no go for me. The 2024 Hyundai Kona received their highest rating,
