Two thumbs up for fixing pool culture. The more welcoming inclusive helpful and kind we are the more players we will have. Grow the sport

There is a guy at our pool hall that always likes to show how me how to do weird shots in pool that nobody else would so. Or he likes to play scratch pool, stuff like that. One time I was missing the center of the cue ball, and he told me to find the center of the cue ball, look at the top curvature of the ball. The top of the ball is always the center. That made sense to me. When I thought about that concept I shot well. I usually forget about it until I have the object ball very close. The top of the balls is the center.

If the lights are centered above the table, you can use the reflection of the light at the top of the cue ball. Another very good practice routine is to put two balls separated by a distance of two balls centered on the middle diamond on both end rails. Then hit the cue ball between them so it travels three times up and down the table without touching the balls on the end rail. Another is to double kiss a ball against a rail. If the cue ball comes directly back to you, you are hitting center cue ball (and aiming well).

Thanks a lot for the interesting content. I have subscribed to the channel as it provides the information which interest me a lot.
If you "find the center", the approach could be a adjusting a aiming line OR adjusting a head possition...
Question: Once you find your center and you remember the adjustment, just to make a straight shot to be executed perfectly, do you struggle with the exact same adjustment next time you try to play the same shot?
I do struggle with the consistency. One day the adjustments and whole routine work just fine, the next day it all is gone and I am not able to figure out what is wrong when I do follow the very same procedure as the day before.

      Quick questions-
How many shots does it take to find your center?
Once found, how many shots do you shoot to anchor that knowledge?

@@SlateBilliardClub Approximatelly 10 shots to be sure I found the center.
Then I shoot about 50-100 balls with conficence...
Very next day the center and confidence is gone, so I realise in the matter of fact I do not anchor knowledge at all and I have to start all over again... and the next day the situation repeats and so on... It simply drives me crazy.

      @danender5555
I'd suggest anchoring that center for closer to 50 shots
I'd then suggest that playing "confident" should be switched to playing with "awareness" and having a "learning mind on" approach
If you practice in this manner confidence will follow as a byproduct of staying calm, focused, present while you are learning through paying attention to what's happening (i.e. speed/spin/thickness of hit, etc)
I think you could benefit from slowing down your training process and focus on learning what's happening in the moment and not practicing with a race to start playing with confidence
Confidence is a byproduct of a solid, calm, learning process of training intentionally

I love everything about this channel. You have a very beautiful pool cue. I'm looking to buy first carbon fiber cue. My question is which shaft is it and is that a custom cue butt?

Is the cue ball shading sideways because you hit the CB slightly off center, or the CB hit the OB slightly off center.

I have a question, one of my student play a really good stopshot , but the objekt ball is not pocketed....for me the Problem is that he is not positioning the cueball on the right line , his opinion is that his shoulder is moving....what you think about that ? I repeat the white stay perfekt Frozen after Kontakt, if he would be in the right line and miss the shot , also the white would be moving.....the white has also not side Rotation at all 🤔 ! I would appreciate your point of view !

Once you find it did the brain ever see the shot as looking correct and if not do you have to change the way you see every other shot??? Thanks
