As a former scratch golfer and now a current avid pool enthusiast, my ability to hit pure shots is in direct proportion to my ability to perfect my pre-shot routine and then turn off my brain knowing that everything is in place and trust my swing or stroke. If I make a conscious effort and tell myself to hit it "pure", it just doesn't come as easy as when I'm in a sub-conscious zone.

I have noticed over the years a particular sound when hitting it pure. It sounds like a miscue almost. But the cueball is on a string once i have that sound and feel.

YES!! 2 months ago i was plsying in a monthly tournament series and somewhere along the course of the tournament, i hit a ball and just went "WOW". I realized that was the feeling I had been searching for. Since then, although it comes and goes, when i start to feel that cue ball feeling,I know I'm going to have a good night, match, game, etc.

    1. Are you defining “pure” as a synonym to “perfect”? As in perfectly struck? This to me would include tip placement, shot accuracy, form, timing, speed, and so on…all dependent partially on table conditions, the environment, etc…if the defining characteristic is how you “feel” about the shot, then that’s completely different. I tend to categorize hitting a “pure” shot as hitting with perfect timing, and feeling how you hit the timing good. I suppose at the end of the day it’s all semantics lol.
    2. I think the better point of this video is something I’ve been saying a lot recently. “Perfect is the enemy of good”.

When all those factors collide and join forces to make a shot that feel perfect with the matching result of the shot acting as designed and pictured

Awesome video guys! Actually, I was there today, and I was practicing draw shots at the distance you did this video, and I lengthened my bridge, and tightened my bridge, and I hit a pure draw shot. It felt so good! The longer tighter bridge with a slight downward angle low on the cue ball produced good action effortlessly.

This video hits home, loved it, along with the rest of your "train with me" videos. But, this one had a great vibe with your buddy and how you guys interact. I'm in the camp of "pure" is a feeling. For me, it's not often I find it, but when I do, I know it. Unfortunately it's not recognized until I'm done with the final stroke. But, I guess it is just a search for the holy grail afterall, just to figure out the recipe that gets you there. All I know is that I'm doing my best when I'm not trying to be perfect, and am in a full subconcious zone. After a pure hit, I can tell you where I was aiming, where I hit the cue ball, and everthing that made it a good hit, but I don't remember thinking about it prior. You must cherish these moments HAHAHA!

Hello, is that a straight in shot where you do the follow or do you have a little angle?

Is there any place where you actually define what “Pure shot” means? I get the idea but seems a bit vague and open to interpretation.

Have you ever hit a shot and felt like it was as perfect as you could hit it?

      Develop a pre shot routine
      Breath
Stay locked in (don't move head/ hold follow through)
      Train with that "last ball"
i.e. 8 ball of you play 8 ball. The 9 ball if you play 9 ball
