It sounds like clapping when the ball goes in lol. Thanks for the explanation! The thing I will have to remember is that when you are counting from the object ball, you don't count the half diamonds but you do on first rail you hit.
You go from where the back of your cue stick is over the diamond and you shoot through the diamond... Meaning you shoot the cue ball like your actually trying to hit the diamond with the cue ball... Not the spot on the rail in front of it..
If you are asking about object balls not near the rail. You need to parallel shift your cue towards the second rail which will allow you to see the second rail track line. More precisely use the cue on the track line to the first rail, 1/2 diameter of the cue ball off the rail contact point, parallel shift towards the second rail which will give you the second rail contact point and the track line. If the object ball is on that line then you should hit it. Keep in mind that spin plays a important role in this system. Less spin moves the cue ball away from you and more spin moves the cue towards you. Spend several weeks working on the basic 2 rail diamond to corner pocket and diamond to diamond kicks which will give you a good but basic understanding of the tracks lines. Then start working on hitting balls away from the rail. You will start to see the track lines relative to the object ball and split the difference between lines that the object ball doesn’t land on.
@@dustinp26 always running English...case u don't know what that is ..Meaning a tad bit on the same side you want the ball to go...it definitely works and is a system used by pros. It's simple geometry
My daughter said something yesterday about "spot pins" like in bowling. I said no. I'm glad to see here that I was wrong. No one had ever mentioned this kind of dynamics before. This is great information.
Thank you so much! I almost didn't watch this because I thought it was another system where you add and subtract things. I am a very visual person and I find it extremely difficult to stop and do even simple math while shooting pool! 😂 the object ball being zero and counting up from there should work for me.
Thanks! This explanation makes t feel more accessible, less like “math”. If you ever do a follow-up, I too would be interested to know how you deal with balls off the rail. I whiff on those a lot, and I’m thinking there must be a simple way to visualize the line by predicting the 2nd-rail contact point.
There is a way. You have to hit the object ball and the cushion at the same time. It's one of my best and most consistent shots but I play with good players regularly who struggle with it
When you line the ball for example at the 4 diamond it was much closer to the 5 diamond 4:37 and everytime you seemed to be one higher more than actually positioned..?
I've tried this system a couple times for about 30 minutes. It's always off by about 2 Diamonds. guessing the rails or old cloth has something to do with it. Or.... just my error. I'll try again tomorrow.
@JacksHardenedLiver I kind of worked it out on the pool hall I play at. Some tables are Brunswicks and some are Diamonds. I tried at another place also. For me I needed about 1.5 - 2 tips of running English and hit about medium speed. But once the first angle becomes less steep I need less English.
Hello Darren, many thanks for this tutorial! Could you please explain how to measure the distances between the cueball and the objectball when you don’t always place the cueball directly in line, as you did? For example, if the cueball is somewhere in the middle of the table, do you then measure the distance between the cueball and the objectball using the diamonds along the side, or by aiming at the target points marked from the long rail to the short rail? Could you elaborate on this a bit more?
Thank you Darren, it's so nice to see you smile......... glad your feeling better........ just wondering what camera setup and stand are you using? Thank You!!!!!
Thats a really good system, it works great on a valley bar box to but I cant get it to work on diamonds for nothing, is there any adjustments for doing it on a diamond?
I've always been curious, is there a system for the reverse? For example if you want to go long rail, short rail, long rail? Best explanation for this one 👍
This is really cool and perfectly explained. The only thing I am missing: what if the object ball is not close to the rail but more in the centre of the table? how do I count then? and second thing: can you also do a video where you explain a kicking system, where you hit the long rail first? 🙂
I like it. Tried it last night. How about if the object ball was off the other long rail by a couple balls, with the cue ball in a similar spot. Maybe a little off the rail, but you still need to kick 2 rails?
In all other explanations I've seen of the +2 system, when the OB is on the short cushion, the distance are counted as half diamonds along the short cushion, _then_ as full diamonds after that. Why not here?
Thanks darren...how about mate the cue ball is in near the pocket like the one ball and the object ball is in the number 4 diiamond long rail..i mean if you reversed the situation do u have kick system mate..hope u understand my question
All very well and good, but what happens when a bowl is in the middle of the table or off a rail? What happens also if the ball is more than nine increments away?
This is the best explanation of the diamond system I have seen, thank you. However I tried every shot you did in the video, and it is not working on my table. I have to go two diamonds from the diamond the system says I should use. I can't figure out why it's not working right for me. Do you have any suggestions. My table is 7' long, it is exactly twice as long as it is wide. I want to use this system, but for whatever reason it doesn't seem to work for me
I noticed that when you shot the 5, you didn't have your cue pointed out 'from' the five, but in a diagonal from the side 5 to the end 5 spot. Cue placement is critical as much as cye ball position. This is a great video. Also, cue ball placement, for practice, is not at the side diamond, it is forward of it.
If the object ball isn't near the rail, how would you use this system to predict the path of the cue ball through the object ball? I'm guessing you'd eyeball a close cue ball path and use your cue to predict if said path takes the cue ball into the target, and make little adjustments if it doesn't? Thanks.
Question: The last 2rail kick with the 1ball on the short rail, starts at zero, then you counted the pocket as 1diamond, then 2,3,4&5 diamonds up the long rail to the CB. I've always counted the pocket as 2diamonds. One diamond for the short rail & the 2nd diamond for the long rail. I love this system, but I've never seen the pocket counted as 1diamond. Have I been wrong this whole time? Great video & explanation. 😎
Diamond system isnt fool proof anyways. It only works as good as the table youre playing on. I use my eye first but will add diamond in if needed but never diamond only
Interesting, and well explained. Thanks for all the tips. One comment though, when you're hitting the short rail (at the balls you've set up on the diamonds) it looks like you're hitting before each ball or diamond. For example, the 7 ball that you had a few attempts at, it looks like you're hitting much closer to the 8 on the short rail than the 7. Maybe it's just the camera angle from where we see?...
You're aiming at the diamond, not the spot where the diamond meets the rail. If you're coming in at a shallow angle, it is going to look like you're hitting way to the side of the diamond, but from the shot line, you're going straight at the diamond.
Thanks for the videos! How does the system work when the cueball is at position 1? Does it break down at that point? Also, I looked for you on Patreon, just making sure you're not under an obscure name or something?
In a little confused why The cue ball is actually a diamond ahead of where you’re saying. for instance, when you shoot at #3 the cue ball actually by the side pocket but your shaft is going over the third diamond - So is it where the shaft goes towards the cue ball or is it where the cue ball sits?
In the example you are talking about the cue ball has to be in line with the 3rd diamond on the long rail and with where he had the 3 ball on the short rail. So yes the cue ball will start somewhere in front of the side pocket.
Many have tried to explain two rail kicking... this is an excellent video Darren!
Thanks Darren for all you do. You'll never know the impact you have on all of us.
Seen videos on this system before, best explanation I’ve seen .Thank you Darren.Good to see you back at it.
Yes,Exactly. The best presentation of this topic.thank You Darren !! . I'm going to practice it.

Great video, hands down the best Diamond rail explanation! Thanks Darren
Thanks Darren! Great video and so happy to see you well and playing again and teaching
best explanation of this system by far. thanks for sharing champ
One of the easiest educational videos Ive seen in a while.
I may have to watch a second or third time but your explanation makes sense, now I need to actually try it. Thanks!
I’d like to see an explanation if you have to kick into the long rail first and short rail second
Check out the SID system. There’s some videos on TH-cam. It’s based on a multiplication of rail numbers.
You're telling me I shouldn't just wing it every time? Thanks Darren, will practice this.
Great job Darren, This is Gary Boykin, we met last year at Ralley in the Valley. I hope to see you again this year!
Well done Darren. Could you explain what adjustments we need to make for balls that are not near a rail?
You go from where the back of your cue stick is over the diamond and you shoot through the diamond... Meaning you shoot the cue ball like your actually trying to hit the diamond with the cue ball... Not the spot on the rail in front of it..
Yeah, you use the corresponding diamond tracks, not the location of the cue ball acroos the diamonds
He can't even explain the English use lol this is a feel alignment he's developed over tons of practice, not a system.

by far the best video about this system. so easy... no fancy calculations. Thanks
Easy to understand ! Great little video !

Much love from Swiss.
The parallel shift technique helps to find the precise aiming point. Thanks!
Great Material as usual Coach! Thanks for sharing!
i love your system, simple, easy but effective, i used it already and im amazed
Glad to see you doing well again, thanks for the video.
Very good to see you up and looking healthy!!!

Thanks Darren, very very useful, my appreciation for sharing this knowledge
Does the speed upon which you hit the ball effect this as well? Thanks for the video, really helps.
Faster will shorted the angle. Slower will lengthen it.
Great video with perfect details. Thank you.

Nice video! Quick question.
What happens if the cueball is further away from rail?
Wow thats what I wanted to add to my game the rail shots!! Great info.
really happy to see you healthy champ! great video!
Im American Shane's my favorite player here but there its you. I really enjoy watching you play.
Hey daz can you explain the mirror system in a video please thanks
Thank you highly appreciated love how u places the balls on the rail on top of cubes of chalk for your tutorial Thanks again
I’m sending this to everyone I know that plays pool. Thank u.
Greats! There is any system with no effect (center on the CB) ? Thanks, from Argentina
All very well and good, but what happens when a bowl is in the middle of the table or off a rail? What happens also if the ball is more than nine increments away?
Excellent look with the balls as the numbers 👍
GREAT JOB YOU MADE IT EASY TO UNDERSTAND THANK YOU SIR
in 3:52 you say zero one two. i can see white ball is in three can you explain why we choose two?
great video any way amazing

If you're coming up short, then you might be hitting too hard. 2 diamonds is a LONG way off, so your rails might also be wore out.
Best Coach Ever ❤❤
This is probably the best system I’ve seen so far.

Can you do one for a 7x4 English pool table mate?
What would be the rule if the aiming point ended up being the corner pocket of the other side of the pocket on the long rail?
Interesting, and well explained. Thanks for all the tips. One comment though, when you're hitting the short rail (at the balls you've set up on the diamonds) it looks like you're hitting before each ball or diamond. For example, the 7 ball that you had a few attempts at, it looks like you're hitting much closer to the 8 on the short rail than the 7. Maybe it's just the camera angle from where we see?...
It's because of the angle your shooting from

Holy cow! Thank you!!!!!!!
what if the cue ball is away from the rail in the middle of the table? Thanks
