It’s rare that you see pool instructional videos recognize that this game isn’t one size fits all.
Most of them don’t touch on variable techniques and this is refreshing, as it directly tackles this and mentions how everyone does it differently, but helpful to have certain elements.
    Great vid Niels.

    Bro, this is a crazy!
    I can't thank you enough!
After nearly 20 years of not playing pool which was my only hobby and my level 20 years back as a very casual player was very good as per our standard and understanding of pool. Recently I started playing pool with passion but I found that to enjoy playing pool with the current standard I need to work hard to improve my performance as the level of the players nowadays is scary even within the casual players.
I watched dozen of videos on TH-cam and I must say I learnt something from each video and I'm very thankful to the channel owners for the effort they put to share their experience in pool in public to help people to improve their perofrmance in pool.
I bought a very good CF shaft and started playing with passion, changed the cue tip 4 times in very short period, however I found myself cannot improve anything, and it looks I even forgot how to lay down on the table (which is somehow true) as I feel like I am laying on the table blindly and missing very easy shots.
I was sure that I can do better or at least to have same performance I have 20 years ago, but there was something is missing but I wasn't aware about it.
Honestly speaking, I watched this video before but not paying enough attention to the contents. Today I watched this video again with high attention and I stopped the video several times to take screen shot of each shot.
Bro, I went to the pool club without a plan to apply what I saw in your video but your impact is beyond my plan, when I reach the pool club I remember everything I saw in this video and applied it on the table.
I found big improvement in my stroke in term of feeling when I hit the CB, accuracy of my shots as I was able to pocket the ball much better than before and also I noticed that my speed control is better.
I must admit that this video caused a massive impact on my performance especially these moments 03:24 + 08:37
Again and again and forever, thank you so much for your effort in sharing this valuable contents with others and sorry for my long comment 🙏🏻

Focusing on the length of the back swing and the follow through, getting back to basics, really made a difference last night in league. Niels - THANK YOU! I’ve been putting the learnings from this lesson into practice for 3 weeks, and it has made a step change improvement in my game! I’ve played on and off for over 40 years and I never realized until this video that I had the same backswing for nearly every shot, and I just varied the stroke speed, with pretty much the same follow through. I somehow learned that way and repeated it thousands of times so it was burned into muscle memory. 3 weeks of using the stroke tips in this video have given me a clearly better, smoother, more natural and accurate stroke. Next, I’ll move on to the accuracy drills in your next video to really hone that element. Your teaching style is fantastic and going back to the basics is working wonders for me - thanks again Niels! Mike.

I just watched this and realized something really critical - I adopted a traditional snooker stroke after being inspired by snooker, but I noticed that my spin shots don't work as well. When you said pool balls are heavier and more of the upper arm needs to be incorporated in the pool stroke, it finally clicked. Thanks Niels!

I use a snooker stroke but you have inspired me to finally try out the longer follow through/elbow drop on power draws because my full table draws always have to be struck so hard to get any great distance. Thank you for the insight. I'll try it in my drills tomorrow.

I've always advocated for players to play how they are comfy as long as you deliver the cue straight... I tried changing up everything to be a by the books player and it really hurt my game as soon as I started to play how I felt comfy again my game went thru the roof

    • @TheJurgisRud
      @TheJurgisRud 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@shanemccarthy7282 I agree with you Shane, but I also try to be open minded to changing things for the sake of improvement. That being said, I do things that the book would say is wrong. I don't have a "pendulum stroke" for example, because it takes all the feel out of my shots. I'd say I have an Earl Strickland type of stroke, in terms of mechanics anyway. I grip the cue tighter than most as well. I've also made some stroke changes recently while adjusting to a new Cuetec Cynergy that were beneficial. But you're right, there are things that I do "wrong" that are unique and necessary for my personal stroke.

@@NielsTheTerminatorFeijen I’ve been focusing on your drills and the mental aspect for the game and have made significant strides.
My weakness is the power draw so your drill on improving your stroke is one of my favorites in mastering this stroke. I mentioned you in one of my TH-cam videos recommending your drill.
Thanks for all the great training drills Niels! 😊

This was very helpful. I only watched one of Niels' videos before this. In that video, with the cue ball and object ball on both spots, he was pocketing the object ball and getting the cue ball back behind the center line 10 times in a row. Well, when I went out to the Pool Table Shed to try it myself, I could not do it even ONCE. So I just figured Niels' videos were too advanced for me. But this is what I'm working on right now and I think this video will be helpful to me when I go try these ideas for myself.
It's very impressive to be able to get a lesson from such a top-level pro! Many teachers are better teachers than players, which is okay, but not the case here.
UPDATE: I tried this, and it really helped! I discovered I had been using sort of a weak "Stroke 3" for all my shots--meaning I was stroking too long for short shots but not strongly enough for long shots. Thanks Niels!

Great lesson on speed control, not stroke necessarily. I’m an amateur who’s done 3 packs but stroke mechanics hold me back. There was no knew info in this vid to me to be honest but I feel like I’m missing major key info when it comes to stroke mechanics. I’ve taken lessons from world champs and all of them don’t even seem to be aware of their mechanics in a great detail. It’s all feel. Looking forward to your next stroke accuracy video.

@@NielsTheTerminatorFeijen Yes. I bought a table 2 years ago. I never really played pool when I was younger. Now I am on two leagues and learning how to shoot well and move the cue ball into position. I should have spent more time that first year on stance and stroke. Once you can consistently cue straight things become so much easier. And cueing straight is all about stance and stroke. When I first warm up, I verify my stance and stroke are correct by doing a lot of straight in shots without any aiming or adjustment. Basically I do my pre-shot routine, get on the shot line, drop into the stroke position, and then shoot. By noting where the cue ball goes, left or right, I know what minor adjustments to make on my stance/stroke. Once I verify my stroke and stance are on, I allow myself to make micro adjustments while down on the shot. Anything more than a micro adjustment, I stand back up and start over. It's great to see you pros making videos! It really helps us amateur players. Keep up the good work and good luck in your competitions. You are one hell of a pool player!

At the eleven minute mark till about the 12:30 minute mark this is the best secretin play pool. I started doing what he said and on a 5 foot shot I was drawing the cue back 5 feet.
