  • I take a look at the Creator Pro 3D printer, showing some of its features and sample prints.
    The printer came from a company called Zhaidazz 3D Printers, you can contact them with inquiries or orders on +63 (0)949-786-6886 .
    I am not associated with Zhaidazz 3D Printers. I recommend them based on my own personal experience with them.
    There are only a handful of 3D printer models available in the Philippines. Primarily there's the Flashforge that I show in this video, the cdrking 3d printer (vellemen), the UP Mini and the locally made Puzzlebox 3D Printer.
    I'm meant to be reviewing the Puzzlebox printer in Manila, Philippines, sometime soon. I'm just waiting for them to confirm a date I can visit their office.
    The Creator Pro has a heated base plate and dual extruders that can print ABS, PLA and various other weird and wonderful filaments that are on the market right now.

      SD on these is risky as the SD card moves and the printer stops so you have to start over,also bits of plastic fall down the SD slot so move the monitor our side,,print some brackets,,,take door off. put a switch on side and print a cover,

    I have Flashforge Finder 3D printer, it works like a charm and only costs £499. Did you consider this printer when buying your other one. Although it only prints in PLA, you can buy upgrades like larger print beds and heated print beds. Why did you not go for this one. It is quieter, cheaper and better?

    The USB connection problem he talked about is not true. The USB connection feeds the print project to the printer 100% before it starts. If you turn off the computer or disconnect the USB cord, it continues to print because the project is 100% inside the printer at that point.

    You forget that 3D printers has logic circuits which needs programming. There is a lot of engineering in designing the threads of the riser rods. To me 3D printers are high tech. How's the visibility of the layers? Can you also have one extruder uses support material and the other the main material?
    Thanks

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      BJM Graphics If you run your fingernail over the layers, you can fell them. But to the naked eye they're not immediately or easily visible. You also have acetone smoothing and other options if you want a smoother finish. You can use the second extruder purely for support material and you can use a dissolvable plastic for the support material to give a better finish.

    Thanks for the great video! Can you comment on the Flashforge Dreamer versus the FlashForge Creator Pro Dual? As someone new to 3D printing it is a bit confusing. The print envelope of the two machines is similar and Dreamer seems to have better connectivity plus the ability to use PVA. The FlashForge website only mentions ABS and PLA compatibility for Creator Pro Dual, so I am questioning if it could use PVA. The PVA looks like a good option to use for supports of a complex structure with overhangs. To my totally inexperienced eye the Dreamer looks like the better printer, yet it is $100 cheaper than the Creator Pro Dual. What am I missing? Is it an issue of the software supplied and compatibility with Makerbot Replicator 2X?

    Hi! I'm new to 3D printing and have a question for you. I've seen lots and lots of videos and the printed models always seems to show all the filament lines. But with the models you printed ( especially the elephant) it was so smooth. My question is, how did you acheive such smoothness? Did you clean it off after printing it, is it because of the quality of the printer itself, of the model itself or because of the settings you used? Thank you in advance :)

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The prints shown in this video were straight from the printer without any special chemicals, cleaning or smoothing process. The quality of the printer makes a huge difference in the outcome of the print. The settings you use can also make a difference, thinner layers will blend better but take longer.

    When printing with just one extruder, do both cooling fans turn on, or just one?

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Paul Sieradzki It's possible that both fans will come on because the heat is transferred through the combined heatsink and once the second extruder senses the heat, that second fan may be turned to help regulate the temperature :)

  • @maraleescott9287
    @maraleescott9287 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great explanation.Do the heat settings and other settings need to be done on every print or is there default settings so you do not have to set each one up every time you print?

    • @GadgetAddict

    Hi,
    Just wanted to know how is the performance of the printer, in terms of preventing warping, support removal, and finally what software does it use? I have always wanted to buy a 3d printer for myself but I am concerned if it is a hit or miss technology and I would end up tinkering with it more than designing and producing my parts. If you compare it to the ultimaker 2. I do not mind paying for more as long as the unit I end up with, is consistent and turns up good quality parts. Nice and very informative video by the way. Thanks for the Vid.

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have any experience with the Ultimaker so I can't really compare. From what I've seen of other TH-camrs prints, the Creator Pro is as good, if not better than most. I've not had any major issues so far. I started hearing some noise during printing the other day, I followed the instruction manual and applied some oil to different parts and it fixed the issue straight away. I didn't expect to have to oil the machine so soon, but who knows how long it was in storage before it was sent out. It only took a few minutes and is part of the expected maintenance. The acrylic door and top cover help keep the temps up to prevent warping. I've not yet experienced any warping issues although I did have a tiny crack in one of my larger (5 hours) prints. Printing with supports, on any printer, pretty much guarantees you're going to need to do some tidying and sanding of the part. Although you can get a pretty nice finish from 3D printers, I think it's pretty much accepted that you will always have to do a little cleanup if you really want to get a perfect finish. I use MakerBot to open STL files and export them to the SD card for printing. For design I started with Tinkercad, then sketchup (painful but powerful) but I'm transitioning over to Solidworks which is pretty much the best.

      +DzuariHD Yup you always adjust the temperature depending on what type of filament you're using. It's a simple and common setting :) I've not seen a styrofoam filament before but there are wood and metal type ones which feel and weigh close to what the real thing would. They're pretty clever concoctions.

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      testvideo5377 Any 3D printer or electronics device could potentially cause a fire if left unattended. More likely is clogged nozzles and the printer destroying itself than a fire. You'll see many horror stories of people leaving their printers going over night and waking up to find the nozzle got blocked and it just oozed plastic all over itself meaning many parts have to be replaced. Personally I like to check on the printer every so often to make sure everything is okay.

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Odie Sotomayor There's a wider choice and cheaper prices available in US/UK for 3D printers. There's only a few people importing 3D printers into the Philippines so the prices are a little high. There is a "locally made" 3D printer (Puzzlebox 3D) which is meant to be a budget printer but I've not been able to review it.

    I'm printing at shapeways right now but considering own 3D printer at home and I wonder to purchase this model!
    My concerns are the surface finish of the printed objects.. is it a nice finish where you hardly see the layers? I'd really need to see a sample to consider before purchasing...
    Do you have a macro shot of anything you printed with this printed in ABS to share?
    thanks a lot!

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      addk3 If you look very closely, you'll see the layers. If you run your finger nail over it, you'll feel the layers. But if it's just sitting on a desk, you wont be able to see the layers. There are also chemicals you can use to smooth the layers to a glass-like finish. I don't have any macro shots, I'll see if I can get one but I'm not sure if I have a camera that would produce something good enough to help you.

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can go to your local glass store and have them cut a piece of glass that matches the size of the build plate. Then buy liquid hair spray (not the aerosol kind). You put a few sprays of that on the glass and leave it to turn tacky. Then print onto that surface. You can also just buy a glass build plate on ebay. I hold mine in place with bulldog clips.

    PLA and ABS are both 'low quality' plastics. As someone who isn't someone who has looked into it, is it possible to use any of the higher denisty plastics, like acetal plastics?

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Richard Smith A quick look on google suggests some people have experimented printing with acetal plastics; but it doesn't seem common so you might have a hard time finding a filament designed for a 3D printer. There are also some other specialist plastics available. But most of the time people just use ABS or PLA.

    • @rich1051414
      @rich1051414 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gadget Addict ABS is ok, but I am surprised people settle with it. PLA is a 'temporary' plastic, and will not stand the test of time. I guess that is ok for people just making doodads and don't want to fill the landfill with their junk for hundreds of years. For instance, a cup of steaming coffee poured on PLA would melt it, unless it is using some additive that raises its melting temperature. Honestly, i personally don't see why people would use it except as a test plastic while refining a model.
      Or maybe it just that I don't understand the 3d printing scene quite yet :P

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Richard Smith I prefer ABS for the reasons you mentioned. But some people prefer PLA because it's supposedly easier to print with and a bit better for the world :P A lot of doodads people print just sit inside the house and aren't exposed to extreme heat or long periods of direct sunlight, so I guess PLA is okay for them. Personally I'm an ABS boy 8-)

      Gadget Addict After some googling of my own, it does look like nylon is a thing, that looks very promising. Too bad fiber impregnation is not really feasible to help stiffen it up tho, as nylon is a bit on the floppy side.
      I was asking because if one of these happen to charm me into buying it, it would be put to work to make things that are put to work :P
      Acetal does look very possible though, even if I have to print my own modifications to make it work :P

    hello kind sir thank you for your videos . I also own a flashforge creator pro and i would like to ask you some questions since there are not many inmformative tutorials from the company . I am also having a terribly hard time leveling the bed , i own it for some months now and i believe i have not ever calibrated it correctly. I also cant calibrate both nozzles at the same time . If the right one is correctly calibrated the left one is either too far away or close to the bed and vise versa . Share you method please . Save my life i cant stand it anymore :p . And also do you recommend a glass bed upgrade ? I am having troubles with some prints . Cant get the material to stick correctly and also i dont always get the smoothness i want . Final question and sorry for talking too much :p Do you believe simplify 3d is worth the money or should i stick with replicator g ? thank you in advance have a lovely day

      +Restless R2 I'm glad you found it useful :) Unfortunately it's a known problem that the two nozzles are not aligned. I either re-level or wonky level to try avoid the problem. You can actually adjust the height of one of the nozzles so they match each other, but I'm a bit lazy for that. I would recommend the glass upgrade because it's super cheap and prints stick very well if you use hairspray on the glass; specifically I use liquid hair spray in a squirt bottle rather than aerosol. I've not tried Simplify 3D, I use Makerbot, it works perfectly! Hope this all helps :)

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Geoff Garrett Without seeing them, it's hard to say. But it might be the older model verses the newer. One has a wooden body and the other has metal and then some minor hardware upgrades.

    • @GeoffPG
      @GeoffPG 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Gadget Addict thats whats odd. They look almost identical. One is the "creator pro" the otger is "qidi technology". But i see nothing different between them on the details front. I suppose its possible that one is just a newer version.

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Geoff Garrett Oh so the brand is different? I'd assume qidi technology is a clone since Flashforge is extremely well known. You might save $200 now but regret it in the long run if their quality isn't up to the spec of Flashforge.

    • @GeoffPG
      @GeoffPG 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Gadget Addict heh, you're right. I was too busy looking for differences, i didn't notice the maker themselves. Truely a case of "dont judge a book by its cover." sure enough it appears to be a clone.

    • @Liberty4Ever
      @Liberty4Ever 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Geoff Garrett You might also find that one of the clones is actually better than the FlashForge. it's often possible to take the best of one design and fix a few small problems and produce something that's better than the original. For example the QiDi Tech 1 has no wooden parts. The frame is all metal. It's also significantly less expensive than the FlashForge. I also purchased the MagHold removable bed. It's aluminum with magnets and a thin piece of spring steel that can be popped off, flexed, and the parts fall off. No messing around with hair spray or glass plates that can break.

    Maybe I can request some replacement items for 3D printing :). Is there a way to scan an object instead of designing it? Specifically on the model you have

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is a way! You can make or buy a 3D Scanner which shines lasers on your object and rotates it in front of a camera to map it out on the computer. But they are kind of expensive and can be really hard to setup. Also they don't work on reflective surfaces so in some examples I've seen on TH-cam people have used spray paint on the object they wanted to scan. Even when it's on the computer you have to do a little bit of work to smooth everything out. Right now I'm just using a ruler and trial and error :p

    • @RabbyCalicdan
      @RabbyCalicdan 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gadget Addict I have a pebble steel and I bought a steel connect adapter so I can put on any watch straps. I wanted a different color so maybe some sort of scanning device can scan my current adapter and reproduce it.
      Also maybe a good adapter for the Apple Watch. I hope you know where I am going here $$$

    hello, thanks for the nice review video. I am using the flashforge creator X, and having some troubles with the raft under the model which i cannot remove in a clean way without damaging the model. Do you have any tip or trick to remove it properly to get a clean model?

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fido Dido I avoid using the raft unless I absolutely have to. All you can do is use sand paper and other tools to gradually smooth it out. It's hard to get it perfect though. You can actually buy a resolvable filament. You have your main filament in one extruder and then the dissolvable one set for supports and rafts in the other extruder. Then when finished you can wash away the dissolvable filament without any damage to your main print :)

    • @merlinthewizz
      @merlinthewizz 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gadget Addict Thanks for the prompt reply! did you print your sample models by using the dissolvable filament ?
      until now i printed only with PLA filament with the left extruder. I did the printing plate level calibration so the head is close enough to be able to insert a post it paper between the printing head and the printing plate. however it often happens that the right head bumps into the model causing it to move and thus ruining the printing. i tried to print without the raft but this problem is worse as it seems to decrease the adherence of the model on the printing plate. when i starting the printing, i used kapton tape on the printing plate and it was just fine when using raft but after few months the model would shift when the second head is bumping into the model. I switched then to blue painting tape and it worked fine again, but after few weeks the problem came back. today i tried to print the gear heart model with raft and gave it a try with the kepton tape. the first try was ruined as the model shifted but the second print was ok but i ended up holding the model with a spatula to be sure that it doesn't move. Did you experience such disagrements in your early days in the 3D printing world ?
      Thanks

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fido Dido Nope, I don't have any dissolvable filament, I've just seen it being sold and used on TH-cam. The problem you're experiencing with the extruder hitting your print is common. The extruders on the Creator Pro are not level with each other. You can fix this yourself with some basic tools or you can try to adjust your build plate to avoid the problem. I had the same problem with the second extruder knocking things off the plate or burning marks into my print, but eventually I learned to level the plate to avoid those issues. I use a glass plate with hairspray, things stick extremely well.

    • @merlinthewizz
      @merlinthewizz 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gadget Addict thanks for the information, hte hairspray sounds like a great idea! in case of the raft made by a using dissolvable filament, the replicator software doesn't seem to allow to set a head for the raft and the other head for the model, do you know if such option exists?

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict  9 ปีที่แล้ว
