George, I liked watching the video because I could see how much you enjoyed your knife haul and the progress of your project. Well done on that knife restoration..!!!
Thankyou, appreciate the support. Kinda liking this restoring thing, very satisfying. Be safe
That one blade on the gentlemans pocket knife that you thought was for peeling oranges is a manicurists nail pusher. It's for pushing back the cuticles and stuff to clean up the nails. They used to be found as a seperate tool in women's manicure sets. I used to pretend it was a lock pick when I was a little boy playing "spy". 😊
Lol..thats right. I remember my Mom had manicure set with one. We used em to peel friut...lol. good info thanks for watching, appreciate the support
Haha. I love watching your videos.
Thankyou my friend.
Oh my ! You're going down a deep and dark rabbit hole my friend lololo kinda like using your forge. My coffee got cold watching the video , I kept putting my cup down while trying to pay attention. Well done George !
Lol..get a warmer thingies for thr coffee. Many thanks my friend

Thankyou. Appreciate the support as always. You be safe out there.
I really enjoy your videos! I thought that was a great knife haul. I’ve heard the first knife referenced as a fish tail. Thanks for all you do!
Much appreciated my friend. Makes sense on the fish tail. Good info. You be safe
Thanks George again for a very interesting video. Looking forward to the next one.
Thankyou sir, pretty sure there will he more...lol. be ssfe
Nicely done. It is a relaxing and rewarding way to spend time. No end to availability of old knives to work with. I just just made new handles for a DE 365 2 blade fish knife out of a limb from my Ash tree. Fun project. Carved it with my SAK.
Yep, for sure. Great projects 👏 👍 be safe
Cool knives. Interesting about the orange peeler blade, I have never seen one before. Turned pretty good. Thanks for sharing and God bless.
Yep not very common. I think it's referred to as a fruit blade but not sure. Be safe
💪
I watched it, I understand it, but I've no idea!
Lol...me too. Just fun stuff fir sure. Be safe my friend
i just love your videos George!!! Greetings from Germany!
Thankyou my friend much appreciated. Be safe
👍🏼very cool.
Soaking in vinegar over night works really good on rust. I have an old hammer brand that was my grandpas. Never heard of them before. I also have a German one like yours from grandpa.
Good vid.
I believe hammer became imperial, then Shrade....I think. Love these old unknowns...lol. be safe my friend
@@2ndchancegeorge try vinegar sometime George. It eats away the rust.
Very nice work, buddy!
L..thankyou sir
Great job and great video!
Thankyou. Much appreciated the support.
Good looking knife George. For some reason this knife looks familiar, perhaps my uncle had one that was similar. Take care.
Yep, came out better than I thought..lol. be safe my friend
vinegar works well on rust when soaking for awhile, cheers G!
Yep...worried about the blades darkening(patina)...not sure?
Unfortunately, George Colonial did not do a very good job of being able to date their knives due to not having a tang stamp system! However, due to basic pocketknife dating methods I believe it was probably from the 50s or later due to handle construction and other factors. The hammer brand is most likely 45-55 as you stated, and the little German knife is probably 50s or later as well due to the celluloid handle material. Hope that helps!
Awesome my friend. Much appreciated. Be safe
Nice job on that restoration brother!
Thankyou sir. Appreciated.
I feel that the odd blade is a cuticle pusher/nail cleaner.
Huh..you may be right...l. weysed em for fruit growing up. But that's probably what it is. It is a manicure knife I believe
@@2ndchancegeorge We "nailed" it.
Lol.....true
Check out Evapo Rust rust remover George.
Ahhh ok will do thankyou. Much appreciated 👊
@@2ndchancegeorgeHarbor freight carries it. Good stuff .
@sugarcreekknifeworks good to know. There's one down the road...lol
2cg. Co7ld the lines on the file on the little knife be for hooks? Just a thought!
Huh...maybe. but it's a personal manicure knife I 🤔 lol...I have no idea...lol. be safe
