I’ve got a 1966 that. bought after boot camp. It’s not stainless, it’s regular carbon steel, other than one of the slabs having a small chip out of its as good today as it was back then, and I carried it for many many years! That Flits is the best!

I personally use mineral oil on my leather sheaths. Reason being is because if I use my blade for any kind of food processing I sure don't want a petroleum product on or in my food. I think thats why most people are saying you shouldn't use rem oil on your leather sheaths. Get you some mineral oil and Ballistol.

Nice job. I've used an inexpensive ultrasonic cleaner with dawn to get rid of the gunk after the first scrubbing - I think it loosens the grime in the small crevices well. Great channel.

The grime in the pivot just needs some WD-40. Once you get you a good amount of WD-40 open and close the blades a few times and it will pull that grime and grit out of the pivot.

Man, I totally love those old folding hunter Case XX knives. I restored two here while back. They turned out pretty good also. The one was a gummed up mess.I had to oil that bad boy 3 times. I'm still working it out too. I don't know what the heck they got in this knife. But, the messier the better for me. I enjoy tackling the more challenging restorations! 😊 I am excited about the Live Auction Kevin! Those boys better bring their wallets.... I love me some Auctions. I love me some knives. So, be ready everyone. There's NO FRIENDS in the Auctions! 🤣😂🤣😂

Love the channel and content Doc! Question. Why do you clean and oil before fixing edge? My concern would be it's too slippery to repair or having to do all those steps again. Love the content, my dad passed Down a lot of case knives that I added to my collection including a like new hunter. Keep it up brother.
