So well done. The wonder of these old tools is that they can be restored back to perfectly workable condition and that they work without the harsh sound of modern machinery and no batteries are needed.

I really like the way you left some of the marks of time, accumulated during your Grandfather's time while using these tools. I would offer to buy it, but know such a family heirloom would never be subjected to being sold, as part of the value is always in the story that surrounds them.

Amazing restoration, but the shavings you take are enormous! These planes are designed to take much thinner and delicate shavings.
Hate to complain also, but using a metal vice is also a nono. One slip and the plane blade hits the vice. Game over.

Red beech planes? I'd glue hornbeam on the sole..if I wanted to use those as tools. Nice work, though. Especially with the chisel box. Your great grandfather would be very much pleased!

ein großartiges Werkzeugset. natürlich nicht hundert Jahre alt, aber alt und in gutem Zustand. obwohl diese Werkzeuge repariert werden konnten, war es besser, sie zu reparieren. wenn Sie nun an diesem Werkzeug arbeiten, werden Sie die Familiengeschichte selbst in die Hand nehmen.

Une suggestion : pourquoi ne pas mettre une ou deux photos de votre arrière-grand-père à l'intérieur du couvercle du coffre à outils ?

12:38 Good job! But one thing: Those holes are from insects, so keep in mind that you need to apply an insecticide on that wood. Just in case, apply the treatment to everything, including the chest.

about the planes, not only the sole need to be flat, but also perpendicular to the bed of the iron.
Block plane misses two parts, the chip breaker and the screw to adjust the angle from the iron.
I feel bad about this, had to tell you.
Judging by the hard time you had on plywood with them.. you should give it another shot with that in mind.
Your sharpening looks just fine, you could have a way better result with a nice leveled sole.
You wont use them in this state.

Hoi! Ja zal wel werken uiteraard. Maar omdat het schuine vlak in de schaaf geen verdiepte groef heeft, zat er een gewoon geheel gesloten ijzer in.
Dit ijzer heeft die opening om de schroef van die chipbreaker door te laten.
Maar het werkt uiteindelijk ook prima. Goeie job!!

Buenas noches para quitar el óxido utilicé un removedor de óxido de Huchem.
Dat ijzer past niet bij die JNY blokschaaf. Dit is een ijzer voor een chipbreaker en de schaaf heeft niet de uitsparing voor die schroef
Ah oké. Het werkt wel goed maar het hoort dus eigenlijk bij iets anders, bedankt!
