    I've own a BYD Seal AWD Performance for 4 months now here in Thailand and I absolutely love the thing. It has a 3.8 seconds 0-100kmph/0-62mph; 82.5kWh (net) LFP Structural Blade Battery and cost me US$44k. I have the bi-directional charging hooked up to my home solar to give an extra 6 Tesla PowerWalls of backup power - videos of my channel.

      Oh very cool! I'll have to check that out! What range do you get out of it? Perhaps we could have you on our show to talk about it?

    • @EcoHouseThailand
      @EcoHouseThailand 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@Outsider.Reviews The official range is 580km, but I can't seem to drive it with a light foot. I have regen set to max, so when I overtake it's blast and then lift off to let the regen take me quickly back down to the speed limit. I power the car from my home solar so it's not like it's costing anything. Happy to join a podcast I have done a few over the years. Timing might be tricky as Thailand is (GMT+7) but I'm retired so can be pretty flexible.

    Here’s the thing. The West wanted the world to adopt zero-emission, carbon-free environment, renewable energy and blah blah with all kind of green energy movements by year 20xx, but their solar panels and EVs were so expensive and unaffordable to most. Hence, the adoption rate was so low. Then China came in with affordable solar panels and EVs to most, but the West not happy about it. Claiming “National Security Threat” or “Heavily Government Subsidized”.
    The question is, the Western nations need to make up their minds. Whether to achieve what’s agreed on Paris Agreements ASAP by offering consumers affordable Solar panels and EVs, or to continue protecting those companies that unable to produce affordable solar panels and EVs.

      They routinely violate the very international rules they set up when the rules become inconvenient and don't favor them anymore.

    • @Outsider.Reviews
      @Outsider.Reviews  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree that green options need to be a lot more affordable in order to change ppls habits. I think the major problem was that 3 years ago, buying an EV became a trend and the manufacturers quickly rushed in to capitalize on that trend and make money, get market shares and so on... They aren't as vertically integrated as foreign companies like BYD and their cost is high. They need to completely reshape how they produce EVs and become vertically integrated like BYd and Tesla

      We'll Tesla's Chinese factory had an overflow production which was shipped to Canada, however, it was sold at the same price as the U.S. made one so there was no savings really.

      They kind of did, which is why BYD building cars out of Mexico could be a threat but the main components like the battery, steel and such are coming out of China (foreign entity of concern) which is why the U.S. is pretty safe and why I said they won't go into the U.S. anytime soon. The price outside China is not that competitive, I am from Mauritius, they are milking the market . . . The price is in Mauritian Rupees
    -> Dolphin Standard -> Rs 1,350,000 -> USD 29,504.41
    -> Dolphin Extend -> Rs 1,550,000 -> USD 33,875.44
    -> ATT0 3 Stanard -> Rs 2,095,000 -> USD 45,786.48

    -> SEAL RWD -> Rs 2,950,000 -> USD 64,472.60
    -> SEAL AWD -> Rs 3,300,000 -> USD 72,121.90

    Imagine a world in 1950, when all nations were driving cars, but US is still riding horse carriages. That is exactly what we will see in 2040, when the rest of the world are driving EV cars, and US is still running on gas cars.

    • @Outsider.Reviews
      @Outsider.Reviews  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I mean... That's a bit exaggerated. They have EVs in the US but their adoption is slower since they also have much lower gas prices. Same here in Canada, provinces like Quebec that have really high gas prices but cheap electricity have a really good EV adoption but Alberta not so much

  • @indigocolossus

    lol. Chinese cars will never be anything significant in North America, electric or conventional.
    North American car markets require a higher level of quality and sophistication. Example: SEAT isn’t sold here, because Americans would not purchase cars with such little amenities, even VW itself went up to premium from economy because they were loosing market share in the US.
    And that’s imagining they actually have a product that can compete against Tesla, which they do not, not even comparable to Porsche or Lucid which are the far 2nd and 3rd ranked leaders in EV tech.
