I've own a BYD Seal AWD Performance for 4 months now here in Thailand and I absolutely love the thing. It has a 3.8 seconds 0-100kmph/0-62mph; 82.5kWh (net) LFP Structural Blade Battery and cost me US$44k. I have the bi-directional charging hooked up to my home solar to give an extra 6 Tesla PowerWalls of backup power - videos of my channel.
Oh very cool! I'll have to check that out! What range do you get out of it? Perhaps we could have you on our show to talk about it?
@@Outsider.Reviews The official range is 580km, but I can't seem to drive it with a light foot. I have regen set to max, so when I overtake it's blast and then lift off to let the regen take me quickly back down to the speed limit. I power the car from my home solar so it's not like it's costing anything. Happy to join a podcast I have done a few over the years. Timing might be tricky as Thailand is (GMT+7) but I'm retired so can be pretty flexible.
@@EcoHouseThailand that's pretty good!
BYD not only for North America. Canada and US are not important Markets. Focus on Africa, South America, Mexico, Asia, Europe and dont forget the China Homeland Market. Canada US is only small Market. Forget Canada US Market.
Yes they are small markets but still potential revenue, market shares and will increase global sales so I think they are eyeing it for sure. Thank you for watching and commenting
@@Outsider.Reviews You did a good Job. Like your Style. My Opinion is. The World is a Big Market. China understands that. Focus on Africa, Asia, South America. USA Canada is on the sidewalk. The Highway is leading away from the Old West. Make a Video on the Billion People Worldwide Markets for Affordable Electric Cars powered by Solar Power.
@@willeisinga2089 Thank you very much for that insight. I'll take a look at what is happening on that side of the world since it is a bit foreign to me and will see what we can come up with
@@Outsider.Reviews Yes I be Happy to follow.👍 Thanks for the good work.
" Canada and US are not important Markets...."

It'll decide the future trend.
In my opinion, EVs are dead.
Love the presentation... I'm wanting to do a video on this soon, good job guys!
Wow that means a lot coming from you! Thanks Brandon.
Here’s the thing. The West wanted the world to adopt zero-emission, carbon-free environment, renewable energy and blah blah with all kind of green energy movements by year 20xx, but their solar panels and EVs were so expensive and unaffordable to most. Hence, the adoption rate was so low. Then China came in with affordable solar panels and EVs to most, but the West not happy about it. Claiming “National Security Threat” or “Heavily Government Subsidized”.
The question is, the Western nations need to make up their minds. Whether to achieve what’s agreed on Paris Agreements ASAP by offering consumers affordable Solar panels and EVs, or to continue protecting those companies that unable to produce affordable solar panels and EVs.
They routinely violate the very international rules they set up when the rules become inconvenient and don't favor them anymore.
I agree that green options need to be a lot more affordable in order to change ppls habits. I think the major problem was that 3 years ago, buying an EV became a trend and the manufacturers quickly rushed in to capitalize on that trend and make money, get market shares and so on... They aren't as vertically integrated as foreign companies like BYD and their cost is high. They need to completely reshape how they produce EVs and become vertically integrated like BYd and Tesla
I have a beautiful Buick; a 2023 Envision Avenir. Ride, exceptional, interior, well above average, comfort, the one to beat.I compare it to my 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora, Which was considered one of the best cars GM ever made. I put my Buick in the same class.
Thank you for sharing your positive experience with your Buick Envision Avenir. It's always great to hear from satisfied car owners. How do you find the shifter? We had a piano key shifter and I was not a fan personally
Tesla set up factory and sell their vehicles in China with great success. But the US consumers are not accessible to inexpensive EV or hybrids . That is not right
We'll Tesla's Chinese factory had an overflow production which was shipped to Canada, however, it was sold at the same price as the U.S. made one so there was no savings really.
Didn't USA passed laws that stops all future Chinese car sales in the country. unless it is 90% made in the USA.
They kind of did, which is why BYD building cars out of Mexico could be a threat but the main components like the battery, steel and such are coming out of China (foreign entity of concern) which is why the U.S. is pretty safe and why I said they won't go into the U.S. anytime soon. Mexico and Canada however....
No they are not. The BYD CEO got an interview yesterday and said that the american market is to complicated. They prefere to work with Tesla instead of competitionning them. Watch yourself: th-cam.com/video/kWToeeCe9aA/w-d-xo.html
Thanks, we actually have the interview link in our description and that is also why in the video I stated they are NOT going to the U.S. but I will point out the United States is only 1/3 of North America and they are coming to Mexico which has been confirmed and I would say they are likely to try their hand in Canada which the vice president made no mention of in that interview.
Don't stress yourself out with the decision of buying or not buying Chinese cars because of the price. Grow your channel by creating contents like this, and you will have the money to buy whatever car you like without thinking about the price.
Hahaha I wish. Thank you very much for the comment and also watching our video, it's greatly appreciated.
The price outside China is not that competitive, I am from Mauritius, they are milking the market . . . The price is in Mauritian Rupees
-> Dolphin Standard -> Rs 1,350,000 -> USD 29,504.41
-> Dolphin Extend -> Rs 1,550,000 -> USD 33,875.44
-> ATT0 3 Stanard -> Rs 2,095,000 -> USD 45,786.48
-> ATTO3 Extend -> Rs 2,400,000 -> USD 52,452.29
-> SEAL RWD -> Rs 2,950,000 -> USD 64,472.60
-> SEAL AWD -> Rs 3,300,000 -> USD 72,121.90
I don't see these prices from a new entrant in car manufacturing reasonable, they have a lot of experience in cells and battery packs though!
That is amazing input! I would say for North America those prices are still better for EVs than what we have but I'm not sure they would be good enough to entice a big market share since they aren't as low as what's been advertised! Thank you very much for this comment!
one of the reason is logistics. when is done local manufacturing sites, prices will decrease to certain point
@@nt5898 also they are extremely vertically integrated.
Honda fit costs over $25000, that is a comparison.
It's also an ICE vehicle and these are either EVs or PHEV which always carry a bigger price tag but if Honda would be selling the Fit EV with 400km of range for 25k... That would sell really well in my opinion. Thank you for watching and commenting, we really appreciate it.
2:50 not a lot different with US laws then, remember Snowden findings.
Or more recently, GM selling your car usage data to insurance companies and such...
I will give a try of the BYD. We are paying too much for tesla.
Let us know how it is. Thanks for watching and commenting.
BSD's attempt in Japanese market 2023 was failed miserably.
BYD is desperate.
Very interesting 🤔. Are vehicles much more affordable in Japan than North America?
Japanese only buys Japanese car, regardless, that is well known.
u act like big tech doesnt already have and sell all your personal info... oh wait
Lol we don't act like that.... We actually make mention of that in the video
Imagine a world in 1950, when all nations were driving cars, but US is still riding horse carriages. That is exactly what we will see in 2040, when the rest of the world are driving EV cars, and US is still running on gas cars.
I mean... That's a bit exaggerated. They have EVs in the US but their adoption is slower since they also have much lower gas prices. Same here in Canada, provinces like Quebec that have really high gas prices but cheap electricity have a really good EV adoption but Alberta not so much
lol. Chinese cars will never be anything significant in North America, electric or conventional.
North American car markets require a higher level of quality and sophistication. Example: SEAT isn’t sold here, because Americans would not purchase cars with such little amenities, even VW itself went up to premium from economy because they were loosing market share in the US.
And that’s imagining they actually have a product that can compete against Tesla, which they do not, not even comparable to Porsche or Lucid which are the far 2nd and 3rd ranked leaders in EV tech.
Interesting take on Chinese cars in North America! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
Sounds bitter. And the black dude laughs for no reason.
Lol he's aware. That was his first self critic and I'm sure he will work on it for our next videos since this is only episode 2 of Outsider Talk. We'll keep working and refining our product but thank you for watching and commenting, it's really appreciated
Lol I'm laughing now cause the way the markets are going we will all be crying soon!
Don't think BYD will make their way into the US market right now, apart from political risks, the infrastructure for EVs in the US is just not as good as it is in China and some European countries.
I agree 💯 ! Canada and the US are their first target and once they streamline those markets.... Who knows. Thanks for watching and commenting.
The US market is very risky for BYD. Sooner or later BYD will become a threat to the national security.
In our opinion, the U.S. market is very well protected against BYD... I really don't see them going into the U.S. with all the tariffs they face currently.
Since Chinese garlic is also a national security threat, BYD isn't a far fetch, according to the neocons.
