Hey man! First off, I respect you for taking the time to respond, and I want you to know nothing offensive was intentionally directed toward you. I think you’re well spoken and you have a reasonably thought-out discussion about this. Knowing Cyrax was your favourite growing up, I can understand better why you’re upset with the new MK decisions for the duo. I remember thinking Ketchup Mustard back in the day, but I’m nearly dying after hearing it again after so many years! To me, Sektor/Cyrax are well known, just not well established because they haven’t been in the MK games enough to have enough development/background to be relevant. We saw them in various MK movies/mini series, but in my mind they weren’t really capable of being main characters because they were too lacking in the games/movies I’d seen. If that’s my ignorance showing, I apologize…it just really didn’t feel like there was any story depth told for them, but I’ve been diving back into MK recently, so I’ll make sure to pick up on capstone events and stories that I’ve been missing. I still disagree about the wokeness issue though and I think I can see where we have a lapse in the definition maybe. The MCU multiverse deal mirrors a lot of what MK1 has going on and gives them plenty of different canonical approaches…so seeing this Cyrax and Sektor swap happen helps me realize where you’re concerned. My stance was that there weren’t obvious, in your face lgbtqrstuvwxyz undertones that I recognized in MK1, and inequalities towards races/sex aren’t really focused on in the story. There’s someone to rep most people from various areas of the world, so that’s where I’m mainly disagreeing. Ultimately, thank you for sharing your view on all this man and I feel for you in NRS’ recent changes.
No offense was tooken brother and i understand where you're coming from as well. Subzero is my all time fav character but because cyrax, sektor, smoke and scorpion are so closely tied sub i grew too love them as well especially how cyrax and sektor looked in mk3. If you want story, lore and world building for cyrax and sektor these are the games that feature them mk3, umk3, mkt, mk4, mkda, mka and mk9, they have also have multiple appearances in film, tv and comics also the strategy guides of yesteryear offer lore as well. Ignorance is common brother we all lack knowledge none of us knows everything. As far as the wokeness too each his own on that lol😂. I dont have a problem with lbgt characters. poison from sf is a transgender for certain reasons that made sense(look it up and have a laugh) or iceman from marvel being made gay in the 2000s in comics. Its when they make unnecessary changes. Reptile would be better too represent the lgbt for obvious reasons and they have an established gay character in kung jin but he is objectively not liked by the community. The mcu multiverse timeline reset is just poor storytelling and a simple way too implement unnecessary changes and the argument for it is simply a new universe new timeline like did they forget that noone dies in the mk universe prior too mk9? Or are they just like fuck it this is simpler than putting in the work and explaining how this character came back. Nope new timeline so it doesn't matter.
