I’ve been slowly giving up on Mortal Kombat, but this has given me the reason to finally stop supporting the franchise. They did Cyrax and Sektor dirty and that is unforgivable.
I ****ing HATE NRS for doing this shit. It’s up to US to end wokeness by not giving our money to these companies. Be a part of the solution - not the problem: BOYCOTT NRS!
I’m back. Had to see a few more of your videos and recognize if either of us were too left or right sensitive about this issue. I was born in the 90s too, and hold traditional values, but I’ve been around the lgbtq+ stuff in and out of school/work where I prefer to leave it after I get home to enjoy games. I stand by what I’m assuming with a few additions, which is that Titan Tanya jumps into Cyrax’s AI suit, and that Titan Li Mei jumps into Sektor’s AI suit to either fight or help Noob/Havik. In my mind, it makes sense for them to do something drastic to compete with Havik’s insanity, so they suit up and/or genetically modify themselves. The colours are almost identical to justify that, shy of Li Mei using pink flourishes. Li Mei was pretty dumped on in MK1 so far, so the grin seems more like her becoming smug after all of her thankless years serving Sindel with public, backhanded comments…if in fact that’s her and not some new face. Something that stands out though, is that Cyrax in the trailer has a thick accent whereas Tanya doesn’t…and maybe that was to appease Outworlders while she was serving as Umgadi. Realistically, we won’t know until it’s released in a month, but for diehard fans of the franchise, I hope it’s not as shallow as a woke agenda. Even if that isn’t the case, it doesn’t justify gender swapping them, though it would add an interesting twist for the 4 characters involved…but hopefully it’s not purely at the expense of the OG Cyrax and Sektor. It doesn’t add up that they’d have Sektor and Cyrax as Kameos, in a form that they embody a resemblance of the MK3 skins, just to gender swap the playable characters…I feel like it has to be deeper than NRS just hitting the delete button on the duo. A few theories I’m working with are that maybe Sektor and Cyrax either completely lost their humanity and act more as AI suits for Tanya/Li Mei, or that they just haven’t committed to becoming Sektor/Cyrax through the Lin Kuei until after this Havik time period. Suits are less drastic than complete cyborgs, so perhaps this is more of an introduction for the true Sektor and Cyrax…maybe Havik killed them already and all that’s left are their suits, so Tanya/Li hop in for a test ride. In any case, this leaves OG Cyrax/Sektor out of MK1 at the moment outside of being Kameos…which I’m not a huge fan of.

@@brolim. i liked mk11 its definitely better than mk1. And i still have every mk game. I wish nrs would make a remaster of mk 1 thru 4 and remaster of mkda thru mka and a remaster of the adventure games mythologies, sm and special forces.

Stop blaming Sweet Baby Inc (whom had zero involvement with the game at all) and the "African community" for the reasons you're upset at the game. There are many differences to Sektor and Cyrax in this game that seperate them from the original characters other than being women. Quit blaming writers for "ruining" the creators creations when Ed Boon (the creator of the franchise) is the say all to this game and approves every part of development. It is a major red flag that a female character smirking makes you want to physically harm them and I can only imagine how women feel about you in real life. If you don't like the game (which you've make abundantly clear with the many uploads on your channel) then don't play it.
Why not just create new female characters instead of changing established characters? also LGBT characters in MK is a modern concept, like within the last 10 years. Lastly the following franchises have NEVER been diverse from the start, neither MK, SF, or Tekken. I don’t think there were a black or gay person in any of those games for example, they may have all included 1 woman tho.🤷🏾♂️

Tekken - so many different races and nationalities in every game Sf - literally the entire cast even starting from sf1 Mk - was diverse from the start liu was of asian background Johnny is white shang is asian as well mk2 had jax etc The lgbt is a modern concept ill agree on that as well.
Don't get me wrong, I'm fed up with NRS and they have made constant poor decision after poor decision. I think you're upset at the wrong issues here. There are so many worse things than them being women, even if it is a shitty attempt at representation: Their designs (pretty shit imo), the kameos already being in the game (makes more sense with scorp and sub), the whole "new timeline" thing is a cop out and I have my qualms with it enough, but it really does give an excuse. A dodgy and lazy one sure, but not a trans issue because they aren't trans. From what I understand, we have no clue if kameo Cyrax and Sektor are the OG timeline, the new timeline, or an entirely separate one. Them having women variants, while it doesn't convey representation as much as it does an agenda to include to identity politics (it doesn't fit in MK and I agree with you there), it also doesn't really matter from a gameplay or story perspective. Honestly, they seem different enough gameplay-wise to constitute a different identity. I was more upset at the guest cast for this pack lol.

If you reinvent something, it’s reasonable if you disregard the previous variant altogether rather than allowing them both to exist. If you have to call someone male or female before their name then that means they’re either transgender or gender fluid because they exist as both. That is shown clearly with Hanzo Hasashi being the Scorpion cameo while Kuai Liang is Scorpion in this new timeline. This whole game is about multiverses, so multiple interations of the same being is possible (another example is the playable Johnny Cage and the Kameo Janet Cage. Same person but of different timelines). And no, Cyrax and Sektor are not trans in this new timeline. They are women. No problem with that. Cyrax of the old timeline is literally now a robot. How can a robot be given sex changing surgery. Come on guys. It's literally just a videogame. If you don't like it, don't buy it. I think the issue here is Cyrax and Sektor are brought back as Male Kameos in MK1, but during Khaos Reigns, they are also present as females…it’s not as simple as “move on” when reinventing something as a new variant exists alongside the original. I don’t agree with everything here, but I see this as being a problem/loophole for every character in the game at any point in time…which might not feel like a big deal, but it minimizes connection and tangibility with these characters. It’s not a reasonable change within the same game title, so hopefully there’s a mind blowing explanation for this during launch, but I see very few scenarios where it’s explained well. There is merit in OPs concern.

That is not entirely the case. Yes, some characters like Movado have been confirmed to be part of this new timeline but Cyrax and Sektor were both implicitly stated not to be, as the lin kuei in this timeline have not moved to transfering consciousness into cyber beings. Looks like it is a common misconception to think those Kameos were of the new timeline, but as shown by the DLC trailer, they are nothing but cameos. The Cyrax and Sektor of this timeline are women. Again, nothing wrong with that. They are not trans either. Even if they were trans, how does that affect the gamer? Other popular fighting game series like Guilty Gear have transgendered characters and the world moves on as normal. There's no need for an explanation on why they are women when the Kameo system is literally and excuse to bring in fan favorites from all iterations of MK. We saw our usual cyber duo in the Kameo menu and now we're getting the in universe versions as playable characters. Hope this helps. I'm willing to discuss this more should you please

I get what you’re explaining, but the game doesn’t go through to outline these intricacies, and because NRS is creating this multiverse, they have the obligation to at least aid players in understanding what’s going on through a character’s development/retcon/removal…so most fans either have to do deep dives and make conclusions themselves outside of the series. So far, I know about a Titan version of a character and ONE variant from another timeline…but because this goes from MK 9 forward, that’s not enough info to go by even if you have recently played 9-11 and 1. If my nephew is asking “why is there 2 of this character” after they finished playing mk 11 and 1, I have to then look through and see what events have happened and figured out which timeline those 2 characters are from, but it’s nowhere near as clean as it should be for players to just know or have a wiki that shortcuts to an explanation…either way, my nephew is going to say “oooh, I think I understa-“ he doesn’t understand, and so now he’s lost and disinterested in the franchise now because MCU had explanations for their timeline interactions, whereas NRS has all of these timelines happening simultaneously, and we’re just supposed to know or figure it out with the least amount of information available. I get the trans argument on both sides…the issue isn’t if they are or aren’t trans, male/female, it’s that NRS has put this type of debate into the game…which hasn’t been great table conversation ever since it’s come about in popularity…and the audience for this topic is probably not the best to be exposed to it when the majority of the community responds with trolling: “don’t cry, it’s a game”, “your favourite character is trash anyways, they got rid of it” etc. Some people wanted to play male cyrax and sektor…the OGs…so it’s frustrating to hear that their favourite characters have been gender swapped out, which really waters down their experience. I’m not a Ketchup and Mustard fan, so I know that impacts me a lot less, but I remember seeing zombie Liu who used to be my absolute go-to and since then he’s become a Titan and has no humble beginnings anymore, which was the intrigue about being a martial arts buhdazz who is not invincible. I haven’t played him in nearly 20 years now and don’t plan to. The Kameos…I mean, from the hip I’m making assumptions, but Cyrax and Sektor are no longer alive, but still somehow fight with you…sure, I’ll bite…but what’s the source on that? Why wouldn’t they have a bio in game to explain that for each of these Kameos?
