As a syrian soldier who has lost 5 of his brothers in arms and got injured twice i thank you for your sympathy ,and hope some day we all forget the atrocites of war

@@addebagus3573 there is a ceaae fire agreement between turkish backed rebels/terrorists and the syrian army in idlb north of syria,but isis leftovers keep attacking high ways and oil tankers from time to time.
That s beside some clashes wich has taken a place this week in the city of qamishli east of euphurates between American backed kurdish democratic forces and syrian goverment backed national defence militia

If this is fair and truthful, why is he calling it a civil war? It was clearly an externally backed plot to overthrow the legitimate ruler of Syria, done with Saudi fighters, money and arms. Isis wasn't Syrian and had no power base in Syria at all until their fighters crossed the border, ergot, this was an attempted regime change, engineered by foreign powers, and fought off by the legitimate government with the help of their ally Russia.
There was peace and stability until Saudi mercenaries started sneaking across the border@The Pew Hunter Tossed In A School Dumpster The various factions which were subsequently mobilized against the Syrian government all had one thing in common. Foreign backing. Whatever way you look at it, calling it a civil war was yet more disinformation from the external forces which sought to destroy Assad and divide Syria. The same forces that were caught red handed staging chemical attacks to try to justify US involvement.

Even as a Syrian Muslim I knew that was wrong in the video. A good thing to point it out.
As a Syrian immigrant who came to the United States as child I thank you for educating people and your sympathy. We as Syrians are just misunderstood and just called terrorists when they subject is more complicated then that.
I don't get it. Terrorists don't come from Syria, they GO to Syria.
ISIS members would get recruited in the West and then hop the Turkey/Syrian border into Turkey.
Thankfully the conflict is winding down. I'm sure you are looking forward to returning home.

Great video , i am from lebanon and you said that alawites are sects of the sunni but they are a sect of shia islam , and love your analysis but for russia they are there because they have a major naval and air base i think in hmeimim and tartous and the russians are also helping the local syrian christians who they are orthodox

For exemple we are maronite catholics and we had our easter a mounth ago but the orthodox will have easter next week , and in the start of ramadan there is a 1 day delay between shia and sunni .

What we don t believe in? Black magic, worshipping an Imam as God and we hate the way that the other Sunni Muslims portrayed the prophet.
Also, we can not tax people because of their belief.
Yeah Iraq and Syria were once ruled by two Baathist guys who hated each other, because one was Sunni minority in Shia nation and other one was Shia minority in Sunni nation.

Hearing a story of a veteran in Iraq made me felt like hearing the stories of our veterans in Marawi (Philippines, 2017). Horrible.. War is horrible..

There's a wonderful Syrian family that lives in my building that's always sharing food with us. My wife and I aren't excellent cooks so I've return the favour by donating old computers for their children to use for school. I know they very much miss their home, but we do what we can to make them feel welcome here and I hope they'll think of this as their home someday if they can't return.
I agree with your assessment for Russia's involvement. For 600 years most of Russia's conflict motives were from geography. Despite all their coastline they have very few all-season ports.

I like your original channel, but i like this one even more. It takes a deeper look at the complexity of geopolitics and war, as opposed to just geeking out over cool gear (which is definitely still fun). I really appreciate what youre doing here.

Nice video, the analysis is a bit Americanized. In fact most of the Arab world is based on a patriarch structure within various factions. Some of these factions mainly left wing and military, tend to consider the European or Communist secular way of life as more progressive, while other factions cling to what they consider their own traditional way of life. The result of these deep cultural differences cause great internal instability to these countries, resulting in oppressive military regimes that think it's their duty to lead their people to progress while on the other side, the majority of their population becomes radicalized going the other way. Beyond this fundamental internal strife, international policies come to play. If you see the countries that the Arab Spring tried to bring Democracy to, like Iraq, Syria and Libya were all at war with Israel. The idea Americans apparently had was that if democracy came to these countries, there could be peace in the Middle East. The problem in this, was that democracy meant that the traditionalist extremist factions such like the Islamic Brotherhood or ISIS, Al Nusra (the Syrian Al Qaeda) and others would come to power and they were even worst enemies of Israel. The end result was total chaos where every body was fighting against every body. The only country saved so far is Egypt, because the military managed to keep the country secular. In Syria the U.S found it self in the position to help the "opposition" to the pro Russian Assad regime, only to find their weapons in the hands of extremist groups. As far as the current president Assad, he was never supposed to rule Syria, he got stuck with it after his brother was killed. In any case he is an enemy to Israel but he is an enemy you can come to terms, under the right conditions. On the other hand, with the exception of the Kurds, almost every other group of the so called Syrian opposition are extremist fanatics, that no one can reason with. Take the similar situation in Afghanistan for example: When the Soviets were there, the US was supporting the people it ended up fighting against, for the past 20 years. The Afghans that supported the Americans, were the same that supported the Soviets in the past, because they believe in a secular society, regardless of it being communist or not.
Unfortunately for the world, all of these events are, each in turn, just an other brick in the wall of US foreign policy and domestic politics blunders. That's my opinion and I seriously think that the US policy makers need to go back to the drawing board, before we all start glowing in the dark...

I very rarely leave comments, but I think this series of videos you're doing deserves serious recognition. I've been watching your videos for a while now because they are very entertaining. I have no military experience but I find that your videos comedically provide the context necessary to understand the content. In this series, you apply that ability to provide context to situations that matter. Not that the 6.8mm round doesn't matter, but it may not be overly important on who I vote for. Completely understanding geopolitical issues is something that might influence who I vote for and you deliver this information as unbiased as possible. I can't emphasize enough how important this series is to normal people like me. Your videos are normally really good because they are fun to watch, but this series is genuinely way more than that. You are delivering very important information without spinning it left or right. Please continue this series, I think it's way more important than you might know. Love your channel! Thanks for what you are doing.

This is PERFECT! Love this format. Not much worse than war in this world, but you have to remember 95% of the world's military force is directed to keep peace. To protect civilians. To scare off the potential aggressor so much so he will not even try to think about attacking your country.

I also think it’s important to remember that the Syrian history goes back 10,000 years to the Persians, Babylonians and Phoenicians. The modern state of Syria is more a result of this, and that is often forgotten. All Glory to Marduk!
During my life I've heard numbers about how old human civilization is here on the Earth. We kind of think of our own country here in the US, 200 years old like it's a long time.
None of this really had any perspective to me until I read "the richest man in Babylon". For some reason reading about life back at that time while the war in Iraq was raging, seeing reporters pick up pieces of broken tablets from the Babylonian era, it finally all kind of made sense to me.
And they have the oldest Christian church in the world.

Thank you for that outro. Serving left me with a very conflicted view on all military things for quite some time but I think it boils down to a simple: The technology is higly fascinating, the strategies are interesting and the aesthetic is cool but I sure don't want to see any of it being used ever again. I still love (military) history and keeping up with current developments but every now and then I also spend a night back there and that sucks balls. Keep up the great work.

This is the best video you've ever done. Sure it lacks the polishing of the main channel but this is the most informative video of the conflict I've seen. It wasn't new information for me but that's a good thing you hit it all very well. As someone who has been covering and volunteered in Rojava, I think the best part is that you left Rojava out of it. (even though that's where the 900 troops are) Rojava is essentially an entirely different country, government and conflict that's largely against Turkey and should be an entirely different video. I have a 15 min unlisted video completion on the aftermath from when Trump pulled out if you are interested. It's graphic war crimes and global news coverage of what our Nato ally did.
Excellent video here. One video that might be interesting, sort of adjacent to the Syria civil war, is something covering the situation with the Kurds, and how that effects the surrounding nations. In any case, please continue these videos!
