1.) Sponsor 2.) Stake holder 3.) Steering Committee 4.) Scope Statement 5.) Gold plating 6.) Scope creep 7.) Charter (project charter, which is very useful) Adrian already told in other video. 8.) WBS 9.) Action Plan 10.) Risk planning AMAZINGLY ADRIAN ❤
Thank you! I have heard some of these terms over the past year and assumed I knew what they meant based on the context, but you've provided clear definitions. Super helpful.
You're welcome! So glad I cleared up a few terms for you. If you have any further project management definitions you'd like cleared up, do tell and and I'll include in a future video.
WBS connotations - "I'm not gonna go there 😅" - great sense of humor. 😊 I'm really enjoying the content of your videos. Great job! My biggest take away is that doing business with Cornerstone Dynamics is a value added move for any organization with project teams.
Such a great video! I've been a project manager for years, and I didn't know what Gold Plating was! Learned something new today :) Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much, Antonio! I do have a 45 min webinar that I think will benefit you as well. In this free training I walk you through the five key items needed on all projects, it's what I call the FAB FIVE FUNDAMENTALS OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT. The FAB FIVE are the 5 key items that you must do on every project - if you only do 5 things, these are them! It’s a great way to simplify projects, while still doing the essentials needed to ensure project success. Save your seat here: https:www.slayprojectmanagement.com/webinar Thanks for watching, cheers!
Thanks alot for the presentation. Wish to hear more from you. You really have control over the subject matter on project proposal writing and project management.
Thank you so much! A new video comes out every Wednesday so I hope you check them out. I also have a 45 min webinar that I think will benefit you. In this free training I walk you through the five key items needed on all projects, it's what I call the FAB FIVE FUNDAMENTALS OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT. The FAB FIVE are the 5 key items that you must do on every project - if you only do 5 things, these are them! Thank you. Glad you found it helpful. If there's any other terms you'd like to learn more about, let me know and I'll cover it in a future video. Cheers!
Scope creep...it's critical for the project manager to keep the project reined in, because otherwise before you know it, extras get folded into the mix and you're out of time, over budget, etc. Beware scope creep! :)
This was very informative. Thank you for putting this together and in a way that is understandable for a noobie like me haha. Just one question: What is the difference between a project chater and a scope statement? Thank you once again
You are most welcome! Here are two videos that will help you understand the difference and also how to write them th-cam.com/video/QDLk2QIuJkg/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/FIPeKqrvNCs/w-d-xo.html Thanks for watching, cheers!
Thank you. Love all your video D:) I just started an apprenticeship in PM and came across of your channel and I am glad! PM is so knew to me and feeling a little lost and the way your present things and explain make a huge differences in my understanding and learning. Thank you ever so much. Btw, have you done a video about "Governance of project" I am at the beginning of the programme "Concept Phase! and I have reached this topic. Anyway, have a great Sunday, it is 7h25 here in London. x
Good morning! I am so happy to hear my videos are helping you understand project management. I haven’t done a video about Governance of project but will put it on our video idea list. Wishing you much success, cheers!
Great video! I know the list will become odd but i would maybe add an essential term for great PMs which is "contingency" or "contingency plan" linked to risks or opportunities
Thanks for this video, Adriana. Very helpful to know exactly what some of those project terminologies mean. I have been involved in some projects where I think scope creep was a real issue. Perhaps if they had done a charter at the beginning it might have helped the situation!
Great points, Heather! Charters are crucial as it relates to scope creep. Don't forget to download my project charter template for your next small project.
This is a personal preference for a PM. My suggestion is to ensure that everyone on the team has access to it otherwise you lose accountability very quickly. There are lots of good software out there. Because I interact with so many different companies, with different budget and needs I tend to use excel as everyone has this and I don’t have to train anyone. Hope this helps.
I have a question as an accidental pm I find other pms kinda picking on my questions i ask them that are all very important questions to our company. They still just want to pick apart things I say… specifically emails what do I do???
Look at what is being said with some detachment. Don’t link the comments to you personally. Try to understand where they are coming from…strategy and plans you may not be aware of??? Speak to your manager about this and ask for neutral feedback from someone who understands the players and situations and be open to feedback.
Terms all project manager know and understand! 1. Have you got a fag packet to put my estimate on? 2. Supplier yes of course we will finish on time 3. Customer demands gold plated requirement on tinfoil budget 4. Deployment stage is the new requirements stage according to Customer 5. BAU = breaking a unique-product 6. When it goes wrong everyone blames the PM 7. Threats are what the sponsor projects to the PM after findings of benefit realisation. 8. Stakeholders are always experts and vocal after an output but less vocal in before an output in its development. 9. When something goes wrong everyone is an expert 10. PM is alway wrongs and everyone is always right!

What kind of software do you recommend to create and manage action plan?
This is a personal preference for a PM. My suggestion is to ensure that everyone on the team has access to it otherwise you lose accountability very quickly. Thats embarrassing. No true Project Manager would need a cheat sheet to define a sponsor. This person is not a PM.
