Jonny is an incredible skater, and even he has a hard time with a lot of these tricks. Now imagine being Rodney. He had to think up these tricks, then figure out how to perform them. There was no videos for him to slow down and study foot placements and technique. He didn't have the comfort of knowing someone already landed them so he for sure know it's possible. And still Rodney makes these tricks look so easy because he just does them perfect. This is why I appreciate this series. It shows how hard they actually are. Great job, Jonny.
Honestly, rodney was locked in his garage for 12 hours a day skating and developed incredible skills. He also had a mind that open and free to imagine and discover how to maneuver the board.
But don't forget, Rodney is a bonified engineer, astrologist, physicist, mathematician and whatnot on a board. He probably calculated this trick while making mechanical engineering look childish 😁😜
You absolutely read in my thoughts ! No words to describe how genius Rodney was from inventing a trick, figure the thing out, trying thousands of times, to landing them without any sort of help except his mind.. He (and all skaters) are such inspiration for everyone because they show what people are capable of doing when you love something. Life lesson ahah
Man, can you imagine how me, i learn tricks, as Jonny i like hard and unusualle tricks, so I don't search the trick tip video, I try to figure out by myself how to do the trick

I have pretty thin shoes, using the nyjah frees, and tried a few kickflip underflip. Got the flip but couldn’t land on it and completely bruised and killed the top of my feet. May be easier with shoes that actually have a tongue
Dude you've become my favorite skater simply because of this series right here. Bro Rodney was my favorite when I was growing up learning to skate in 95. I watched my vhs tapes out watching Rodney vs Dawoo Song. Thanks bro.
Ive never been a great skater, but growing up playing THPS, watching the skate videos and being amazed by Rodney Mullen's control and mastery of a skateboard, this series (and your channel in general) is a welcome perk in my life. Never stop bein great and showing others how to do the same 👍 success, without knowing the failures that come before it, isnt as sweet as failing a ton of times and then nailing it.
Jonny i am following your channel since about 2 years now. i don't skate anymore, but am still interested and a fan. thanks for also showing the hard way to your success. this keeps young skaters going!

Great dedication and persistence! Well done. I'm feeling the same way at the moment with a tre flip. Its getting closer. I'm not too shabby for a 44 year old :)

Rodney was already my fav skater when i was a teenager. Looking back 15 years ago... watching Johny, amazing skater having such a hard time on those tricks i never even dared to try. It really makes me reevaluate even higher how fucking good is Rodney. I wish we could have a video one day of Rodney and Jonny skating and talking together.
I got to meet Rodney when I was 18, at a demo. He did the kickflip underflip. It took him three tries. At the time I knew it was difficult, but I had no concept of just how difficult it was. I admire your ability and perseverance. Killer land.
Found your channel a few days ago and loving the vids man. I've watched all the impossible Mullen vids already. You're a bomb skater, but most importantly a chill and humble dude. Wishing you and the channel much success!
Johnny, i love your content. You found a format that suits you and the soul of skateboarding equally. Never stop. Never give up. Stand the pain and frustration and finally the trick. Then smile as if god has touched you ... ... until the next trick to learn - back to zero, lol. Keep it up, you do phenomenal!
Hi Johny, besides rodney, you're the only person I have ever seen doing flip underflips and variations. Do you know about anyone else? Also, your effort in landing them in flatground and seeing your tries, tells even more about the story of rodney doing them in street gaps. I believe no one can really appreciate the tricks rodney was doing back then, but your series help in understanding the story behind them. Keep going, appreciate your work a lot.
Always a pleasure watching these Impossible tricks of Rodney Mullen. Your dedication and perseverance is on another level. You also seem to find some scenic places to skate, granted Switzerland has beautiful countryside, but a lot of the indoor setups look nice. Keep it up and thanks for all the great content.
Thank you so much Jonny! I've been following your journey for almost 4 years now. You and your videos were the reason I started skateboarding and you never fail to give me back my hope and motivation. Keep up the good work man! Mad respect from Hungary!
3 Month of daily trying ONLY Kickflips? You did nothing else with your Skateboard? For a Kickflip while riding (already had it standing), it took me about 3 full days of only trying kickflips
Excellent perseverance. For me personally, the one at 10:27 with the tic tac at the end had a much cleaner rotation than your final one. I get the desire to call it after that many days and attempts.
Rodney Mullen is a genious. When I used to skate, I always did the underflip (half kickflip and back) and caspers in s.k.a.t.e games and almost nobody could do it. but the kickflip underflip I tried and tried and never was able to land. This video was kind of touching :P And really relieving you finally landed it! Really like this channel!

@Keste either you're exaggerating, or you don't skate nearly enough my man. I leaned how to push and balance on the board when I was a little kid, and it took no time at all.
Awesome as always Johnny, so glad you landed it mate. Your dedication is amazing and I love watching your vids - legend mate. It's why your board hangs on my wall next to Rodney's ;-)
Maybe a complete state of panic and hurry is needed. Just mess up your kickflip and then try get your feet back on the board as if your life depends on it.
iam so glad you showed this trick. since i was a child this "kickflip-underflip" is a move i always wanted to see again. if i could pick 3 tricks to master them - it would be this one, the impossible and cespar slide.
Good job! @Jonny Giger take a look at at the original two video clips and see how both skaters lift their knees up really high throughout the underflip. For days you had your legs almost straight after initiating the underflip and your feet often blocked the full rotation of the board. For your last couple makes you had your knees bent a little bit and the board just scrapes by under your feet. I think if you could get em up higher, this trick would go down easier.
the juxtaposition of you doing this insane trick with another skater in the back learning how to do a pop shuvit is really cool. Johnny started out knowing nothing and had to learn how to do the basics at some point, just like the other dude, and everybody else. it shows how much hard work & perseverance can pay off :)
I've got the biggest respect for you with going until you have a very clean landed trick. It seems that every video of yours has a bunch of very close attempts that most people would count as a clean land, but you keep going until it's flawless. Well done man, keep up the great work!
I think the reason Johnny struggles with this trick is because of his leg accentuation's. If you look how he does 360 flips his legs spread pretty wide when flicking, this looks so steezy and for me is the most stylish way of doing tricks. Conversely Rodney's style seems to use micro movements that generate a lot of torgue, this allows his flicking foot to stay relatively close to pop foot, keeping him more inline with the center of his board and keeping his foot in pretty much the same location for the underflip. Super awesome watching you learn these tricks, thanks for the vids!
Personally wana say thank you. Your videos and pure talent have helped me in becoming the skater I am today. I’ve got a hell of a lot to learn but your what made it possible, I appreciate that
It looks like it's less of a 'flick' and more of a pressure roll thing around your foot. Every attempt I've made at under-flips hasn't turned out well. Great job!
Love your impossible, mad etc. tricks even though im not a skater, if i may add a suggestion it would be nice to see at the end of the videos side by side comparison and also your quick commentary about which part of the trick you nailed and where improvement could be needed. Im hooked to these series much love from Serbia.
Huge respect for this series! As a scientist rather than a proper skater I can honestly say the subtleties in technique from Rodneys' footage is what separates humans from..the God. If you look how high he gets his knees away from the board so he has enough time to underflip AND then land bolts by constantly adjusting his feet away from the deck...The guy is connected to the board in a way that's more like PS5 rather than human..Its was called Virtual Reality for a reason I suppose.....Well done Jonny!
let me just say, Johnny never seems to let down. I can see the dedication and the execution is flawless everytime. Keep up the great stuff broski Also, I really like the new thumbnails

I’ve been watching your videos for 1 week straight 🤣🤣🤣 Pretty cool stuff bro, you became my favorite skater lol Chill, cool and good vibes all the time 💯 Got my daughter watching them too. Thank you ❤️
I loved watching every time you brought both your hands too your face after every near land. More satisfying to watch than the actual landed trick. Lol
Hey Jonny i m not a skater but i really enjoy your video, because you show all the process of making something impossible, possible 👍 I like the good vibe and the fact that you show mistake in a world where everything is fake on social media this is some fresh air! kudo 🤟
The first one is from the day in life in the 411 VM and casually gets out of his house and does this trick in a line. He also does it in the round one vs Daewon down a sidewalk. Amazing you finally landed it 👏🏼
Damn , that was amazing man !! But that red circle was trippy , at first i was like what why is it important , why did you edit in a circle why is it important , and then i noticed a reflection on the window . Quite cool
I commend you for trying this trick on flat ground. Watching the original the 2 things i noticed were that his left foot barely pulls down to get the board to spin while tapping it with his toe in the opposite direction which brings his feet back to neutral in order to land. It's insane how little movement there is on this trick. Also I think the reason it looks so amazing was the 2 foot ledge which gives him plenty of time to execute the board flip back the other way before landing. Pretty much makes this trick on flat ground close to impossible.
Kickflip Underflip is natural, but most modern skaters make kickflip by kicking side instead of back/down way. Look how Rondey do this. Anyway, thanks Johny for another amazing video, in my opinion you r the best skate youtuber.
Jonny is an incredible skater, and even he has a hard time with a lot of these tricks. Now imagine being Rodney. He had to think up these tricks, then figure out how to perform them. Dein Durchhaltevermögen is der wahnsinn, ein un denselben trick 1 ½ stunden am stück, neee, da brauch ich zwischen durch mal nen Erfolgserlebnis!✌😎
Incredible consistent dedication, one of my favorite flip-tricks for sure.
Can't wait to see you do this trick in every stance.
I've seen you do the nollie version already.
Thanks Jonny
I’ve been watching your videos for 1 week straight 🤣🤣🤣
Pretty cool stuff bro, you became my favorite skater lol
Chill, cool and good vibes all the time 💯
Got my daughter watching them too.
Thank you ❤️
Love the new board. Reminds me about the Powell Peralta range back in the day.
Thanks for all the effort you put into this.
I loved watching every time you brought both your hands too your face after every near land. More satisfying to watch than the actual landed trick. Lol
Hey Jonny i m not a skater but i really enjoy your video, because you show all the process of making something impossible, possible 👍
I like the good vibe and the fact that you show mistake in a world where everything is fake on social media this is some fresh air!
kudo 🤟
The first one is from the day in life in the 411 VM and casually gets out of his house and does this trick in a line. He also does it in the round one vs Daewon down a sidewalk. Amazing you finally landed it 👏🏼
Thanks for that info! :) now i gotta check the one from round 1 out :)
Damn , that was amazing man !! But that red circle was trippy , at first i was like what why is it important , why did you edit in a circle why is it important , and then i noticed a reflection on the window . Quite cool
Just the effort and perseverance alone deserve all the credit!
Jonny ist bester Mann. Grüße aus Deutschland
Glad to see that my favourite skate channel RadRat Video inspired you to make this!
Well done Jonny! Love your commitment, that's a truely difficult trick
You’re a genius like Mullen. I like your job to demonstrate how hard those tricks are.
I just ordered that Revive Splatter 3.0 deck. Can't wait!
14:57 dang that board flipped 4x before hitting the ground you sent that thing with FORCE!! It was cool even if it wasn't a trick per se xD
Kickflip Underflip is natural, but most modern skaters make kickflip by kicking side instead of back/down way. Look how Rondey do this. Anyway, thanks Johny for another amazing video, in my opinion you r the best skate youtuber.
just got your new board in bro. it looks so sick! love it! keep up the great work!
