I once met Rodney Mullen at the University of Virginia. I was a 36 yr old college student, lifelong skater punk, in a room full of young 20-something medical students. I skated there from my house about 2 miles away. After his presentation we chatted and he signed my board. They say 'never meet your heroes,' to which I say, "Never meet your heroes, unless your hero is Rodney Mullen. Always meet Rodney Mullen." He is one of the nicest, sincerest, and genuine, people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.
I meet Rodney back in 87 I think.. he was doing a tour and was at Sears doing Rodney things…I was just magical watching him skate freestyle. Got my G&S shirt signed, not sure were that shirt went…

My friend was underage so he said he couldn't go. The next time they came to town was after they blew up. Lollapalooza. Billy Joe looks at the crowd and says "This doesn't look like the Nappy Dugout", then proceeded to play my friend's request. Funny thing is he didn't hear that because he was outside the fence with another couple friends because they couldn't get tickets and were trying to find a quiet spot to jump the fence so I was the only person in the whole place who understood what he was talking about.

The UK has rich skateboard history. London had a vert ranp called the Crystal Palace in the early 80s that produced a crop of pro skaters like the Abrook brothers, Billy Smith and many others who's names escape me.
Seriously. You can still do it. I see people starting in their 40s. I started in my 30s, but in my 20s I was telling myself it was too late. All I can say now is that I live without the regret I would have carried with me until my death bed. Rodney and Tony never cease to amaze with their comebacks and the riveting stories that go with it. Lots of great wisdom peppered with hilarity . Great to hear Rodney is back and skating after all the procedures he went through. A lot of people would have thrown in the towel. This was a riveting informative and fun podcast. It’s like the return of the king. Can’t wait for Rodney and Tony Ted type talks and hopefully some skating to go with it in April in Texas, I want to be watching even if I can’t be there in person.

This is PURE GOLD. If I had this podcast 25 years ago when I was 13 and just finding my idol Rodney for the first time, this would have changed my life so much. It's so incredible to see the 2 or maybe 3 worlds of skating come together and talk about their experiences. I never had that growing up. It was like bloods and crips, skiers and snowboarders, street and vert just never mixed. I hope the youth can truly see the deeper meaning behind this episode. So badass
The world doesnt need super heroes it needs more living legends like Rodney Mullen... Straight back to skating after a hip replacement is the most commendable thing a person can do 🤘🏾
Skateboarding legends digging through memories and having fun the entire episode... A proof that skateboarding is not a sport nor lifestyle but state of mind. Thanks guys for bringing modern skateboarding to us and for staying true to who you are. This episode was a joy to watch and one of the best videos about skateboarding I've seen recently. It's truly awesome to hear that Mullen can skate again :')
The story at the end where he can skate again got me so stoked and was moving. Thanks for sharing your story, life, and skateboarding with the world Rodney!

“…and I have “faith” so I take a knee.” - Rodney Mullen
WOOO 🎉👏🏼
I'm 32 and JUST found my old board from high-school. Deck is pretty rough but the trucks, wheels & bearings are still good. It's been 15 years too long since I last threw down on it, so I hit my local skate shop for a new deck today. Wish me luck fellas because the old man's oit of retirement 🤙😂
So badass
You got soul Rodney.. Tears in my eyes when you said about taking a knee and realising you're back. Peace.
The world doesnt need super heroes it needs more living legends like Rodney Mullen...
Straight back to skating after a hip replacement is the most commendable thing a person can do 🤘🏾
You got the G.O.A.T. Vert skater interviewing the G.O.A.T. street skater... I'M IN !! I Absolutely LOVE Rodney Mullen !! He's the Best !!
And Jason Jesse Lee Dill Park Ellis.
The stories about spinning taking you to a moment of clarity reminds me of the whirling durbishes - That's a spiritual pursuit!
This is all i ever wanted from this podcast. Everything else was just icing
Man, I could listen to Rodney talk all day, he’s so passionate about skating in every aspect. Just the way he gets so excited.
The story at the end where he can skate again got me so stoked and was moving. Thanks for sharing your story, life, and skateboarding with the world Rodney!
I live in Rodney's home town and I gotta say, he's left an impact. The skate culture here is so great and his first ever sponseres is the local skateshop for most of us here. It's crazy to think about my proximity to such a huge legend. Much love Tony And Wolf ❤
Man Rodney is the best watching him and Tony reminisce and Jason just geeking out awesome
Thank You for this episode
I have to say, I was totally unaware of this youtube channel. I fell asleep watching videos and this was on when I woke up... BRILLIANT! What a great video. You have to admire Rodney Mullen's passion and honesty, and such a great sense of love, respect and fun between the three of you. Fantastic watch... Liked... Subscribed 🤙
When Rodney talked about doing a kickflip after the surgery Tony's reaction was all of us! So stoked to know he is back doing what he loves
Thank you Hawk vs Wolf for having the Legendary Rodney Mullen back on! I can’t get enough
Absolutely love Rodney and his contagious positive energy
I never feel more spiritually healed than i do when i see a new video with Rodney
woke up on this rainy California Monday and this arrived on my feed - excellent company, much appreciated
❤️
You should have him on more often hes just a cool dude. I watch some skating stuff but not a ton but whenever yt offers me something with Rodney in it i always watch it. Glad to hear hes getting healed up, his skating is always so more enjoyable to watch... the things he came up with are just insane
THIS WAS SO GOOD. I laughed and then nearly cried when I saw Rodney sound so excited to skate again and Jason smiling so big at him knowing what it feels like to hit tricks again ❤️ this was sick
Rodney has been my favorite skater since I discovered skating and now he’s one of my favorite people. So glad I found this pod!
Tomorrow marks my 1 year hip replacement and it's bombproof. Just waking up and not being in pain is the best thing ever!
I could listen to Rodney and Tony trade stories all day long. I hope this speaking "tour" takes off.
41yrs old now and grew up watching all 3 of them. But rodneys always been an inspiration and now just as the best skater ever, but a very smart, caring human being that seems to love unconditionally. Would love to hang out with the guy and just talk with him and listen to what he has to say.
Raccoons are so freaking cool
Another absolutely brillant episode. From basic physics to Jason helplessly entering complete amazed kid mode. Pure gold. Love you guys!
Holy shit! Thanks guys so much, I still listen to Rodney’s last episode whenever I’m having a shitty day and it always helps. Can’t wait to see this one!
❤️
Even though I haven't skated since I was a teenager, seeing Rodney just makes me smile every time he pops up places. Dude is just as humble and genuine as a person can be. Legit one of my favorite humans on this planet!
thanks for creating a space for Rodney> You have always understood him better than most. Both of you have obviously been huge inspirations to countless skaters over multiple generations.Appreciate it
Man I love to heear Rodney's stories. He's the absolute best and most passionate about what he does! Rodney for the win!
My buddygot to meet his hero Rodney Mullen in California back in 2018, to this day says it was the best day of his life and that Rodney was the nicest guy he has ever met
Back in the day when I was little kid skating in my neighborhood, me and a group of my buddies use pack into my little room, site indian style around my little vhs tv, and watch Rodney Mullen VS Daewon Song & round 2, in pure amazement. The video was magical back in the day!!!
Bro that made me tear up hard. Thank you Rodney for sharing that about your health. And thanks Tony and Jason for the platform. Rodneys back baby!!!
I’m not a skater. I’m not even sure how this ended up in my feed. I vaguely know who Tony Hawk is in name only. But I am riveted. Rodney Mullen may be my new favourite human.
I just started skating in January, but as soon as I saw Rodney for the first time I had an immense respect for him. It's hard not to have a special appreciation for someone who innovated something that possibly no one else would have. couldn't imagine the anger I'd feel if he weren't getting the respect he deserves
I could listen to Rodney talk about skating for hours, his passion and emotion come across so strong in everything he said.
