Damn! With that new exhaust system it almost sounds like an MPX exhaust you would hear on the Neon SRT4s. I'm considering the Focus ST for my next car. I'll definitely consider this exhaust system. Sounds amazing!
I prefer the unique exhaust tips these have stock, would've tried to fab that back in personally.. otherwise lots of weight lost on an already light car, didn't realize they put soo much muffler on such a small motor.
Thanks for the compliment. If there were any way to remove without cutting I would have preferred it but unfortunately without removing the entire rear suspension it's not happening. The exhaust doesn't have much value anyway. It won't fit a normal Focus and I don't think anyone will want to go back to stock after installing a new system unless they were trading the car in and it can be welded easily enough if needed.
Is everything else stock on this car, well at least at the time of the video, I could go for that turbo pitch coming through the exhaust, really clean sounding
Dane Hernandez-Adams I don't have a Focus ST but I will probably get one in the next year or so. When I do I will probably get the flowmaster system installed.
This video says the exhaust provides a moderate to aggressive sound level. However a lot of people on the focus st forums say that this exhaust is extremely loud. I'm looking looking for an exhaust with a deep tone but not overly loud where I'll wake up my neighbors coming home at night. Advice?
and then how to put the original Exhaust, because here in Spain you have to go from time to time with a technical investigation and you need the original Exhaust,
What car and exhaust system was used for the opening audio clip??? It had a perfect balance of low rumble at start start up and idle but then sounded nice and crisp at WOT.
I can't say for sure, they do not list if its 50 state legal. I personally don't think it would over 95 with a stock downpipe but I have no way to know for sure.
What would be a comparable muffler to the one on this kit since it has no individual part number? I have a 17 fusion and rather like the sound of this.
+Bill Tumas I am currently running injen cold air intake and American thunder exhaust. Will this set up work with the stage 3 access port tune or will I have to go bigger piping.
+Jackie Reyna The Stage 3 is meant for cars with a front mount and a downpipe as well. The Cobb files are written for Cobb parts but we have found they work well with other aftermarket parts as long as you have the same level of modification.
No check engine light has come on with this exhaust that only has a resonator. I haven't heard of anyone getting a check engine light from removing the resonator either. The cat is located on the downpipe.
I have a 2018 focus ST. Can I run a catback exhaust, a BOV, and an intake on the car with just the stock tune? I just want all of the noises, but I am okay with having stock power. Is this bad for the reliability of the car? What are the cons to doing this? I would love to hear your input.

Mbrp responded in one work day. Great Service! I did confirm with our design team that this downpipe does in fact work with the factory exhaust. There is an extension pipe included in the kit that allows it to bolt up to the MBRP exhaust, but for stock it is not required. Also, tuning is recommended for this. Thanks again and have a great day! Customer Service X 206 MBRP Performance Exhaust |
How about some actual horsepower & torque numbers? Or is there almost no difference between this installation and stock? You mentioned weight savings, how much?
Magnusson Moss act allows you to do any modification you want without voiding the warranty to the remainder of the vehicle. The modification you install must be proven to be the cause of the failure you want covered for the warranty for that repair to be voided. So for example if you install an exhaust, the shop can't say that your warranty won't cover a blown head gasket, as there's no way the exhaust could have affected it.
IF you don't have the tools for that part, take it to a muffler shop and cut it off the oem muffler and weld it on to the new pipes. You can cut them again and put them back on the oem if you want to go back, but it will be slightly shorter than before but hardly noticeable. Costs about $40 (that's high-balling it)
Im driving a 2014 focus titanium.its got a k&n air filter, and im thinking of putting in some lazer iridium plugs.think itll be a bit quicker than stock??
I would think that flowmaster would have included a way of securing the hangers to avoid the easy lateral movement of the system that you can see during the install. Retaining clamps to prevent the hanger rod from moving through the bushing would be sufficient. If I were to buy this I'd have to deal with unsightly hose clamps...stylized clamps would have been a prudent addition to the kit.
I hate that saying... Everything that comes after "real men" always is something that is the less intelligent approach. Just use the damn gloves if you have them, lol. The factory tip is really neat I say too.
After watching all your install videos, I don't think I want anyone around my town touching my ST because you do such a good job!
Thanks for the compliment!
That hanger tool, my god is that genius. This could have saved me so much time and blood.
Going to buy one IMMEDIATELY.
the guy who thought that up is sitting on a beach somewhere have scantily clad young ladies freshen his adult beverages. lol
IMO, this is the best sounding exhaust for the Focus ST.
YES !
Because of all of the feedback and the Hated Drone issue I have just purchased this for my Focus ST
Recently got a 2017 Focus St and have been looking for a decent exhaust system. This video answered my prayers and I can't wait to save up for this
Damn! With that new exhaust system it almost sounds like an MPX exhaust you would hear on the Neon SRT4s. I'm considering the Focus ST for my next car. I'll definitely consider this exhaust system. Sounds amazing!
Great video and a natural presenter, Bill. What a shame the exhaust needs cut to remove it, it's brand new.
Wow that sounded nice ! My type of sound...
If you prefer 3 in piping we will have a video up later today of the new MBRP 3 in cat back system.
Music on the background reminds me of early Tool, good shit.
Great job presenting, Bill. Excellent video although I wish you'd kept the original tips!
Thats sweet and good job bro it definitely sounds better ....what are the gains from it ?
Nice, is it too loud to drive around the neighborhood?
Awesome vid! It would be great if you could do a downpipe install!
how's the drone on this?
The factory tips internal diameter is pretty small so while you could probably cut and weld it on somehow it would be pretty restrictive
The cat is part of the downpipe so it does not change. You are only replacing the muffler and resonator so there is no issues with check engine lights
Can you post some more sound clips? I'm really considering this exhaust but hard to tell what it sounds like from just reving in neutral.
Were is it appropriate to jack and stand on this car. Iss there a diagram or a video showing jacking points
There are small arrows on the bottom of the rocker ground effects that point to the location for the jacking points.
I actually prefer this to the AWE exhaust everyone is raving about. I prefer this tone, and both AWEs are a bit too loud for my preference.
I prefer the unique exhaust tips these have stock, would've tried to fab that back in personally.. otherwise lots of weight lost on an already light car, didn't realize they put soo much muffler on such a small motor.

Is everything else stock on this car, well at least at the time of the video, I could go for that turbo pitch coming through the exhaust, really clean sounding
Yes it was all stock, this was the first ST video we ever did.
Sounds great and love the write up. :) Time to convince the wife.
A little surprised it didn't come with a new gasket.
Question: is all of the hardware stainless steel also?
Our next video will be a blow off valve and we have plans for a down pipe and a no-cut front mount in the future
will the factory exhuast be able to be re installed if need be even though its cut?
You'd have to weld it.
Do you still need to tune it after this?
the stock system does sound pretty weak
Still have the stock one on mine, sounds like a Prius. Lol
Just bought the flowmaster for my 2016 ST. Nothing about the stock exhaust says anything about performance.
The pipes going into the tip are pretty small so any attempt to keep it will probably cost you some exhaust flow and possibly rob horsepower.
I don't know which sounds better. This or the Borla system?
I personally like this better I was having that debate myself but the aggressiveness of this is just beautiful
Scott Carpenter I'm kind of swayed to the flowmaster system myself now.
same exact dilemma i am having now. which one did you end up going with?
Dane I don't have a Focus ST but I will probably get one in the next year or so. When I do I will probably get the flowmaster system installed.
Dane Hernandez-Adams I don't have a Focus ST but I will probably get one in the next year or so. When I do I will probably get the flowmaster system installed.
Am i wrong in saying that the flowmaster muffler is baffled...wouldnt that create a restriction?
Can I use the factory exhaust tip instead of the supplied one?
It will give it a more sleeper look!
This video says the exhaust provides a moderate to aggressive sound level. However a lot of people on the focus st forums say that this exhaust is extremely loud. I'm looking looking for an exhaust with a deep tone but not overly loud where I'll wake up my neighbors coming home at night. Advice?
Check out of video on the MBRP exhaust, it might be just what you are looking for
how much does a system like this cost??
Is there any information on whether this is CARB legal and comes with a sticker?
and then how to put the original Exhaust, because here in Spain you have to go from time to time with a technical investigation and you need the original Exhaust,
What car and exhaust system was used for the opening audio clip??? It had a perfect balance of low rumble at start start up and idle but then sounded nice and crisp at WOT.
Could you add a down pipe for it? Or it's not really needed?
Can u change the tip on this cat-back with aftermarket tips?
Do you think this specific exhaust would be fine with the 95 decibel law in California?
I can't say for sure, they do not list if its 50 state legal. I personally don't think it would over 95 with a stock downpipe but I have no way to know for sure.
Do you lose any back pressure with this exhaust?
What would be a comparable muffler to the one on this kit since it has no individual part number? I have a 17 fusion and rather like the sound of this.
How many hp added?
will the factory exhaust tip fit?
Isn’t the pipe diameter too small? Always heard you should run 3in for 2.0l turbos
Great video. Sounds awesome!
Do you need to remap the injectors?
no, no tuning at all is needed.
Hey Bill, is it possible to weld this exhaust together instead of using clamps? Or, is clamps the only way to go?
Thanks,
I wouldn't but if you absolutely wanted to you could.
Will this fit my 2015 focus st?
Jackie Reyna Yes but you will need the Cobb hanger kit or order one intermediate hanger from your Ford dealer.
+Bill Tumas are the stock hangers ok for the 2014 models?
+sergsrt8 IMHO the stock hangers are too soft on all years. They allow a lot of movement.
I can't find that "exhaust gasket tool." Who manufactures them?
www.amazon.com/dp/B0012S9A5U/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=1GKZU18B71HUM&coliid=I1G2CGIRXNJPKS
Yep that's the same tool, mine is a blue point. It's not required but will make the job a lot easier.
so this will fit a 2014 correct? flowmaster site says only 2013 right now
yes it will
what would u suggest for a 2003 ford escort zx2 i wanna be loudest n most depth sounding car. only issue its stock
Can this system fit on a focus 2012???
change the sound in diesel version?
Would there be any check engine issues when removing resonator and muffler? and where is the cat converter? thanks
No check engine light has come on with this exhaust that only has a resonator. I haven't heard of anyone getting a check engine light from removing the resonator either. The cat is located on the downpipe.
no. CEL's come from removing the cat which results in the O2 sensor not reading what it wants to see.
The cat remains in place. It is attached to the downpipe which is not changed. Therefore no codes.
On this model of focus when you do the same as this does the car need re mapped or anything like that??
The warranty is only voided on the parts removed and anything directly affected by the change.
What is the part number for just the muffler
What Flowmaster muffler comes with this system? Please let me know, it didn't say on your website.
The muffler is made specifically for this kit. It's part of the American Thunder series which are typically 2 chamber mufflers.
I have a 2018 focus ST. Can I run a catback exhaust, a BOV, and an intake on the car with just the stock tune? I just want all of the noises, but I am okay with having stock power. Is this bad for the reliability of the car? What are the cons to doing this? I would love to hear your input.
will this work on my 2016 st
Is there a way to make a video of "how to install HIDs in a 2013 Focus ST?" I cant find anything. Help me out?? (:

Is there a 2007 ford focus zx3 Hatch 2dr exhaust you guys offer?
HELLO FRIEND, WHERE IS NUMBER OF SERIES FLOWMASTER ????
Will the mbrp down pipe fit this or is there a specific one to get?
I am waiting for a confirmation from MBRP on this. I should know this week. Hopefully it does because I want it!!!
Mbrp responded in one work day. Great Service!

Will it pass smog or would you need stock back on?
Stock cat is in place so there are no smog issues
It's a pretty heavy duty gasket but replacing it is not a bad idea.
How about some actual horsepower & torque numbers? Or is there almost no difference between this installation and stock?
You mentioned weight savings, how much?
I would expect for a car like this to gain maybe 10bhp max. Whatever it is, it won't be noticeable.
can it be installed WITH the stock exhaust tip? (sleeper look)
what can I do to my foucs st without voiding my warranty
Magnusson Moss act allows you to do any modification you want without voiding the warranty to the remainder of the vehicle. So for example if you install an exhaust, the shop can't say that your warranty won't cover a blown head gasket, as there's no way the exhaust could have affected it.
what should i get this st or civic si
Probably the wrong place to ask about a Civic but from a performance standpoint the Si can't touch the ST in stock form.
Is it down pipe then cat then res then muffler? Or??
Erik wellbrock the catalytic converter is inside the downpipe.. the resonator is in the middle of the exhaust. Muffler at the end
Is there a way to keep that sexy OEM exhaust tip???
IF you don't have the tools for that part, take it to a muffler shop and cut it off the oem muffler and weld it on to the new pipes. You can cut them again and put them back on the oem if you want to go back, but it will be slightly shorter than before but hardly noticeable. Costs about $40 (that's high-balling it)
Sébastien Côté ewwww the oem is awful
We will be doing more ST videos in the near future, I will make sure we get some more sound clips
do you no if any of the upgrades you put the ST void the warrenty
Look up the Magnusson Moss act. Basically the law states that the dealership must prove the aftermarket part caused the failure to void your warranty.
Im driving a 2014 focus titanium.its got a k&n air filter, and im thinking of putting in some lazer iridium plugs.think itll be a bit quicker than stock??
yes, it is lighter than the factory setup, less weight =quicker plus it is less restrictive.
Whata about gain power for resonance wave in this muffler..? Apest
What series muffler is used? Thanks.
AZ DieselTech It is a proprietary muffler designed for the Focus.
Bill Tumas Interesting. Any thought on if the system will be offered for the Fusion 2.0 Ecoboost?
AZ DieselTech Nothing that I am currently aware of
Bill Tumas Bummer. Thanks for the replies by the way.
Ok thanx
sounds better than the mustang ecoboost
My mini cooper sounds better than the Eco boost Stang!
lol I bet
no one has an exhaust hanger removal tool lol, just thought it was funny, not hating, i just might get one though.
Humm..? good i will do it !!
It will only fit 13-14 Focus ST
I wish it sounded like the bad ass mustang in the intro! lol
new exhaust sounds good but ford really gave you a "nice" gasket, i would have bought a new one as soon as i saw that thing.....
If you do half speed Bill sounds drunk AF, lol.
not 100% correct. system should pushed forward since it will expand when heats up and will be stretching hangers
Stock tip looks much better. Also the FM have too much of a fart-cannon sound to it IMO. xD
Ok
Real men don't use gloves...
The factory tip is much better looking...
I hate that saying... Everything that comes after "real men" always is something that is the less intelligent approach. Just use the damn gloves if you have them, lol. The factory tip is really neat I say too.
It was a joke. I bet u think real men cry too
Casey Rybacs Well of course, everyone has tear ducts.
The factory tip looks like shit though
Why cant it sound like the intro muffler on this video it almost sounds kind of ricey all in all not bad though
bullx is better sry
Still sounds like poop.
Do you have to cut the exhaust
