Konstantin Kissin put it in perspective when he said “More people in the UK were put in jail because of what they said on social media last year than RUSSIA 🇷🇺” Yes. The UK has fallen.

Uh, considering they arrested thousands of people in the recent protests over Navalny, I seriously doubt that. They just don’t bother reporting it when Rosgvardia shows up. It’s like saying the Russian economy is booming, then realizing that’s only because it has entered a war time economy - which is devastating to midterm to long term economic health.
I’m not even from the UK and can smell the BS.

Unfortunately you are absolutely correct about the NHS and the state of the economy in the UK. I've retired after 40 years as a nurse who woked full time with no breaks. There is a definite gap between the North and South and it is all about wealth. The UK government is absolutely shot at. No one trusts the politicians. During covid all the PPE was delivered by contractors who had ties with the government in some form. If we start to look at how we deal with illegal immigrants we're called racist so no one says anything about how they feel. Stay where you are.... you're happy with Damo, your sons, the in-laws and your way of life. Keep happy.

Tend to agree with you entirely. As a dentist who threw in the towel 15 years ago and retired early I don't even recognise the UK. It is dreadful! Fortunately I could move abroad and moved to the Philippines. Yes there are problems but minimal compared to the UK and more importantly the people are so happy. I educate my kids in the Far East as it is (proven) to be better.

My mother is 83 yrs old and is a native born Thai citizen. We brought her back to Thailand to retire in a assisted living facility in Chiang Mai, she cannot afford to live in a US based assisted living facility. After living in the US for over 5 decades, its a change for her as she has become accustomed to living in the US for many years. She's gone back and forth to Thailand to live, but this time its permanent for her. I was there with her for the visit to the facility, and the service is exceptional and attention to the residents is nothing like I've never seen. She is indeed in good hands. As a Thai-American, born in Thailand in 1972, I'm seriously considering to retire somewhere in SE. Asia, most likely Thailand if I can get a Thai citizenship.

I lived in Bolton for 18 years after I did my nurse training there. In 2005 we moved to Cumbria where my sister and parents were living. It's so much more of a community feel as there are people who've lived there all their lives , especially farmers. I don't tend to look back on my life and regret anything but I wish I'd been braver and travelled more so I could make a choice if I stayed in the UK or not. I've always loved the way that the Thai culture is so much more family orientated. It is very much all about family and taking each day as it comes. Much less stressful way of life that ultimately will keep you healthier for longer.

A Canadian was visiting me in Thailand. He had a heart issue. He could have been seen immediately at a top hospital in Thailand but he chose to return home and use his free medical coverage. Ten days after returning he died while awaiting to see a specialist.

Entirely possible. As a Canadian, if you think you have a life threatening issue, you need to go to emergency and wait for hours. Typically if you have a real emergency you'll get treated. But nothing compared to what I hear of Thailand or Vietnam, where excellent care seems immediately available at reasonable price.

All hospitals affordable care, but overnight expensive at private hospitals .Example: private in ICU, $1600; public in ward $15. Ambulance $12. 4 days of treatment by excellent doctors including all tests, prescriptions, $550.

I’m English and have lived in New Zealand for 21 years and go back to uk every year to visit parents, friends and family in the south and I can tell you the uk is miserable, expensive, nothing works, customer service is non existent, wages are rubbish. My family nickname it rip off Britain. It’s a great place to visit but to live its hardwork for families. And also the drinking culture and drug taking is through the roof. I’m 50 and went into the local pub with my brother and I have never seen so many people high as kites on recreational drugs. Very sad.

Interesting that I got a mention in this vlog. I don't believe anyone has done that before. My circumstances are a bit unique so my musing don't always resonate with newer arrivals but I try to share my views especially when they don't adhere to the prominent opinion of the day. I love living here and don't share the doom and gloom of many.🙏
Love your views on healthcare and from what I have seen the hospitals in my area are great. I am responsible for my health and fitness. If people took better care of themselves they wouldn't be so dependent on doctors and medication to correct what they have done to themselves. The hospitals are there if you need them however.

His medical rankings list @8:55 shows Thailand 31, UK 34, and USA 69. Yet my fellow Americans insist that it's the best in the world... a world they've never ventured out into.
Medical is great here in Thailand but if you have a serious issue it's suddenly not cheap.
Note; some illnesses can't be avoided; cancer is random chance more than anything, and congenital issues like T1 diabetes and lipids are real. So be grateful for the ability to create good health, is my advice, and compassionate for those less fortunate.

I lived and worked in Thailand in the early 1980's and remember going to Patong beach in Phuket. There was a small group of shacks for bars and very basic huts to stay in made from bamboo/leaves, very simple. Now I look at images on TH-cam and it's unrecognisable! I think I'll keep my memories of Thailand rather than visit and spoil those memories.

In Thailand I feel like I am able to live life to the fullest, back home I felt stuck inside the house because I couldn't justify the cost of anything. There are still many chances to make a go off it in the west. I'm from Canada and many people complain there are few chances. You have to make it happen yourself, too many people only want to work 8 hrs a day. The days of just working 8 hrs are gone that time period has passed, though through the 60 up to the late 80's you could. The government owes you nothing, people have to get off their backside and put in the work!

people will blame immigration, but also want their house prices and rental returns to increase (more immigration does exactly this). people will blame taxes, but will want their healthcare and amenities to be top notch. people will blame a sole politician for inflation, but continue to be docile against giant corporations. people will blame low wages. but put biliionaires on a pedestal. people will blame the first person theyre told to blame in their circles (friends, mass media). but they will never blame themselves for their own hypocrisy. its easier to fool a man than to convince him he's a fool. we have built this problem in our home countries, unconsciously.
thailand is an escape for me, from the growing division and mayhem in australia. i just hope people who move to thailand (or similar), with all that mayhem on their mind, can find peace and happiness. everywhere has problems, and i hope people can find a place that suits them, that gives them that feeling of freedom.

Was with my Mrs 14yrs Country girl who I met in Udon Thani. For me Thailand wins hands down from what the UK has become. People will say why don't you move there full time. 1, am not rich just a cabbie in L,pool . 2, I have young grandchildren still hear in L,pool. Regarding the national treasure that is the NHS, here's my recent experience .... Slipped some discs in my lower back at work on a Monday, laid up in bed trying to call my doctors, can't get through as it's permanently busy. Ended up calling the NHS 111 helpline on Saturday hoping to get some strong medication , unfortunately they tell me to call my doctors on Monday and continue to rest up . I finally give up with the NHS and buy the medication online which is delivered the next day.... In my view the NHS is completely broken by the sheer numbers using it.... I've used the healthcare system in Cambodia a few times in my life and can honestly say it's much better service. The NHS works well if you have an accident and are brought in by ambulance to be fixed up, but if it's a problem that needs an investigation it can take months until you see someone.

The native UK population is roughly 49 million people. All of our services are geared to service that amount. From the baby boom of the 50s and early 60s the population rose and was stable for roughly 40 years at 56 million people. There was a strain on goods and services but adjustments could be made - increased class sizes in public schools, remove te over reliance on public transport and increase the amount of fast routes and increases in private car ownership, removal of council houses and switch to private Social Housing. The Thatcher government effectively destroyed nationalised heavy industry, the Major and Blair governments destroyed manufacturing. Therefore the options for employment are service industries, mobile phone call centres etc. The current population is 66.97 million (thats now three years out of date so..) in reality the population is approximately 69.7 million and projected to rise by 5 million by 2030 (that's most likely an underestimate). The system is still geared for a population of 49 million. No wonder everything is grinding to a halt.

I know nothing about your goverment really. I'm american but I know this. It aint the govt. that destroyed manufacturing, its basically greed. See people like you fail to realize this. If a publically traced company #1 and basically only purpose is to make as much money as they can for its stockholders. That is what they will do. So with that being said. This is why your country imports a lot of things and plus you are on a damn island basically. In American we import quite a bit and we do not have to import a lot of things, but its cheaper. Its actually way cheaper to build someting in asia for us. Put it on a cargo ship, than for it to be made in america. Our labor cost are a alot more. So you need to direct a lot of complaint to the companies but your country is expensive and its always been like that

Having not been living in the UK for 10 years I am not entitled to free health care anymore.
As for hospital and dentist you can walk in and get seen straight away. My dentist I use in Bangkok, i walked in they checked my teeth and actually said no charge.
Food as in fresh fruit excellent in Thai markets.
Depending on lifestyle people many say they can live in Thailand next to nothing.
I rent a 1 bedroom condo in Bangkok near Asoke. 20000 baht includes electric, water, WiFi. Fully furnished. Has a spacious balcony, rooftop walk, swimming pool, fitness etc.
In UK I would get an unfurnished 1 bedroom flat, pay for electric, gas and council tax.
I had been working in the oil and gas industry in Thailand from 2009 to 2016 and am working in Malaysia at present but live Bangkok. I am over 60 now.
I felt Thailand was my home so I have a bit of money in Thailand bank so no need to transfer any for tax.
I am good for no transfer for 6 years.
People have different lifestyles and as regards the taxation a Thai accountant would keep you right on income you bring in to Thailand.
For me I feel safer here in Thailand than UK and I enjoy a quiet lifestyle. My Thai partner actually has a big family, she has a few companies and if anything she makes more than my working in the oil and gas industry. She wants me to retire. I did not buy a house for her. She bought a house for me.

Same here. Haven't lived in the UK since 1985. Still have an NHI number but no longer eligible for free NHS treatment. British Born and bred. Grandparents fought for Britain in the front-line in both world wars. But if I returned I don't even get health care. Meanwhile they let immigrants have everything for free from day one.Thailand has its priorities right - look after your own people first. I'll never return to Britain. Bitcoin's volatility CAN be problematic depending upon where you are in the cycle but good luck anyway with the farm project! I'm quite sure that you'll be in a position to cash out by the close of this year but watch out for savage volatility if the US stock market suffers a major correction in October/November! Hi! New follower here, and I'm enjoying your channel! My husband and I are from the US, and have lived in Thailand for almost 9 years now. I have seen visa options getting harder and more complicated over the years. It's frustrating. We're definitely not happy about that, but considering the cost of living, outrageous bureaucracy, and overall stressful atmosphere in the USA, we would definitely not move back there. We have considered other countries more recently, but they all have their problems. Once we moved away from a popular tourist area to a small (mostly Thai) beach town, life has been mostly great!
I would like to add that I'm pretty jealous over your fluency in speaking Thai. I'm still trying, and it has not been easy!
