@@streetraceperformance7395 I’m going to give it a try. I’ve just never done it before and I guess I’m always afraid I’m going to mess something up. The car I bought has a cooler thermostat wired up in it and it was just confusing me.

@@kosworkshop just don't touch anything you don't need to, fan is easy though. Hardwire positive terminal battery to ground, ground to toggle switch, opposite toggle prong to a fork and the positive and negative harness piece connectors or whatever it's actually called they're just little aluminum fitments that fit into the fans harness , just be sure not to reverse the polarity that can cause a surge and I recommend adding either a relay or an inline fuse somewhere between the second hardwire and the first prong on the toggle switch in case of a surge it will usually just blow the connection and save your switch and fan motor so you can just replace a relay or a fuse instesd of the entire shits

Nice video and Good Job on the build!
First compliment is on the video, it was nice to watch a video that wasn't constantly interrupted with excessive noise and BS!
On the work, I Never knock the oil pickup on with the pump only supported by it's body(do that in a vice).
Second thing is that Carb. Yes, folks often go to big but 600 cfm(especially spread bore) is not a good idea for a 355 with 2 grand worth of trick flow heads. If the cam is anything better then stock, a 750 cfm, square bore Vac secondary would be best. That 600 is smaller than a stock quadrajet and (being a spreadbore) dumps too much of it's flow all at once, just before it runs out of flow and flat-lines the donor sheet. On a dyno, the motor will be flat after 5250 because of the airflow restriction (crazy carb).
    Anyway, Nice job really!
    Ya'll Take Care!
PS, You can make it the cooling system happy with a piece of hose 'bypass' where the heater would be plumbed.
BTW, Everyone can Monday morning quarterback and go on about lifters and their two cents worth. That wasn't what I was doing. I have been the 'budget man' for customer engines and I would have gotten 'smoked' for the heads, rockers and pushrods with that Carb.. the budget would have been; A: the same with the 750 and long-slot stamped rockers. B: A hundred higher with the 750 and 30 more horses or C: $1000 Lower with iron heads milled .090 and 'port cleanup'.
I think your Combo selection (but with the proper size carb) is the best choice. It makes the budget/dyno output sheet a lot sweeter when the customer can afford decent heads.
I hate it when a customer can't understand that trying to use cheaper Vortec heads, costs nearly as much because of the cost of an expensive intake manifold for those heads...
    Again, Nice work folks!

I call it "walking the dog". Pick that distributor up and drop it a tooth at a time and walk that oil pump rod exactly where it needs to be. If your good, ya get the distributor perfectly squared in the engine when ya get it timed. Usually pointing the rotor at the back of the carb will work out just right on most SBCs. Looks better than having the distributor twisted too far in either direction.

What is a good base setting to reset, air/fuel mixture to make sure it is working properly and how to find the correct what am I looking for in the electric choke idle setting, curb idle for my engine (305, stock in a 1983 GMC K1500). 17:12 If you want a good break-in oil, use Joe Gibbs BR30 oil.
19:20 Don’t turn the crank over too many times or you’ll wipe off all the lube off the cam lobes.
21:36 I like priming with the valve covers off. Remember on a Chevy SB you will need to turn the crank 90* so oil gets to the other head. With the covers on you wouldn’t see if oil made it up to all the pushrods.

Correct me if I am wrong, but you are not supposed to lift the engine by bolting the engine hoist chains to the cylinder head, right?? Won't that damage the cylinder head and also the pressure on the head disturb the torque settings of the head bolts?? You bolted the hoist to the cylinder head , I am sure there must be a hoist mount on top of the block to lift the engine!!!🤔🤔🤔

    • @johnziegler204
      @johnziegler204 ปีที่แล้ว

Lifting from the cylinder heads won’t cause any damage. If you lift lower from the block it will make it too top heavy.
