You're forgetting that people got paid way less back then. Sure it only cost 35 cents, but that would have been a much larger percentage of your average salary at the time, which relative to today would be a comparable price. It's just plain ignorance to neglect that detail.
Bobby played that role perfectly, when I watched him , I actually felt intimidated by his presence, that’s good acting , when you feel what they are portraying on. Character!
People who say Boardwalk dropped off after a certain character's death have obviously not watched season 3 at all. Even Jeffrey Wright's Narcisse can't quite hold a candle to Giuseppe Colombano Rosetti.
It’s crazy that there would’ve been a time when people didn’t know what spaghetti and meatballs was. I know that’s not what’s happening here but think about it for a minute.
This actor is phenomenal in everything I've ever seen him in, but he was so good as Rosetti that I'll probably never think of him as anything different again.
The pizzeria I go to still has the old menu board from the 60’s 70’s and 80’s up. It’s amazing how you can see life change before your eyes when you didn’t even exist and how the prices affected the consumer. The prices started drastically changing in the 80’s. It went from a dollar in the 60’s to 5 bucks in the 80’s.

His character gave me the creeps. When he was tied to the bed post and almost got shot left me feeling dirty inside. I didn't watch again for a few days. I actually started the series last year for the first time. Got to the 5th season and took a break. So good though.
Gyp was most entertaining, always. But, why are the tough guys always so sensitive?(remember his roadside murder, because he thought the guy was calling him stupid? Killed him and took his dog over meaningless words) I still love this character 😐
It’s to keep up appearances, if they got away with speaking like that to the bosses then everyone would think that and eventually someone would try take them out and take over.
You know who like spaghetti?

What about some bread sticks with a bowtie

Boardwalk Empire was such an underrated series.. All the actors fit the characters perfectly
Agree !!!! Bobby Cannavale as Gyp....WOW !!!
What a terrific actor Bobby Cannavale is. I get the feeling he's a likeable guy offscreen.
Just don't get personal with him.
@vka337 but everyone's a person though right ? How else are they supposed to take it.

They had the sharpest suits in these shows.😎
Tailored and well cut. Suits can make a man.
