Watching your channel reminds me a lot of a friend who decided he would foster a tiny African Caracal that grew into a 40 pound cat able to leap up to 10 feet vertically. Returning to the comparison, my friend loved his still wild hunting cat but could never predict if Clyde would lounge at the far end of his run or be poised, hiding for Tim to open the door to chuck food in so Clyde could capture Tim's arm or at least the welding gauntlet that protected Tim's hand and forearm for Clyde's gauntlet collection. When we "open your door", we may have a thumbnail of what is waiting for us, but no idea what surprises are in store for us.
I KNEW IT!! I KNEW YOU WERE A BOATS!! Navy seabee here, but have had the pleasure of befriending several Boatswains Mates. Doing your rate proud, brother. Love the channel.
Andy, I meant to post this earlier before you bought a new Tie Rod end, sorry. A semi-permanent field fix (for off road) is to weld a bead around the socket to build it up, so the ball stays in place. I have also a used single link of chain, formed it around the ball and welded it to the socket in really bad cases. BTW on DC winches/motors, with brushes, low battery voltage increases amp draw and is hard on the integral brushes etc. leading to premature failure. You might want to consider running cables and an SB connector between the truck and trailer batteries. Charges the battery while truck is running and no need for jumper cables, just unhook the SB connector if the batteries aren't both about equal or the weak one may draw down the good one.
You can always put a solar charger on the trailer to charge the winch and tilt deck batteries. They are pretty cheap and worth every penny if you use the trailer a lot.
Nice to see the winch working again always looking forward to your videos. I used to see you running around and now the old truck broke I don't recognize you.😊
Love the content Andy, I find it riveting! They even make a tree sling for even more weight, that has a jacket with fibers on the inside. I use them to lift 8,000+ lb trees to plant with my Skid Steer. As always I love you and you still need a Skid Steer! Buy Carlos some more chicks she'll forgive you.
Can add Anderson connectors to a set of old jumper cables the mount connection on from and rear bumper of truck so can hook which up to truck easily from or back and have way more juice
Because then I'd need longer cables to account for the vertical movement of the trailer. I figured the winch is taking up space up front too, might as well simplify things
Excellent job of explaining the basics of rigging. As a crane operator, I’m compelled to point out, those load limits only apply to lifting straight up and down. The instant a sling is used for anything other than lifting, it no longer has a lifting capacity. It shall never be used for lifting again. I’m sorry but that’s the rules. Just ask every single operator that totally doesn’t have a pile of old, damaged and expired lifting equipment somewhere around their property for no good reason.
1 of the reasons that you might be burning up winches that most people don't know is only the first wrap about the drum is what winch is rated for so if you have 12,000 winch only that first wrap is 12,000 and each wrap out drops.down in how.much it can pull until.you get to last wrap ( one most people use the most and a 12000 lb winch might be only 5000 pounds!) If you take half the line and cut it off put eye loop on cut end then use it as extension when needed which works less hard and better
Andy i don t commet often but just a dumb thought on of those solar chargers harbor freight sells and set it on the trailer when not in use should keep that battery charged right up there
Probably be hard to get hear in New Zealand what's the brand name of hat ... love ya videos just moved onto a couple hectares iv already got to say let her wobble a few time's ...love it
Check out Matt Cremora's "hoop crane" that he uses to get monster size "urban" logs on to his flat bed trailer. Simple hoop of steel tube moves 4000# logs with a winch smaller than yours.
First time to your channel. Just wondering if you have a natural slur or is that from day drinking? Or am I chasing the wrong squirrels again? Lol good show!
2 things boss one i suggest a covee of some sort for the winch itself. That synthetic line hates uv light. And itll destroy it over time. Second how long till you rip the boat battery box off? 😂
What do they call people who work with cranes where you live? I'm in Australia, they call them dogmen or riggers, depending on level of qualification and job role.
I love your videos and short editing style. If I didn't read you quit drinking I'd swear you were drunk constantly with the accent and the way your vocals slur.
Someone remind me just how many Chitvrolets Andy has and how none of them are drivable, yet that old dodge is still going even after he tried murdering it by wrecking it.. 😁
I think you need a bigger hat ,you're cutting the circulation off to some key points. Why would you mount anything to the deck. The next video will be moving the battery to avoid smashing it.
“I thought we were going to have to chase a different squirrel today.” Might be the most relatable thing I’ve heard you say.

Haha, I love the analogy.
Thanks for another great watch. Greetings from Sweden. 🎉

I'm in Australia, never heard of that mob you got the winch from! Looked them up, they are only about 100k down the road from my place.
Also Aussie never heard of them 😂
I literally came here to say the same 😂😂
Just to change this up, I’m Aussie and I have one

Thanks for buying Australian mate. Your a good egg
😂 You crack me up. I'm happy that you got a brand new winch.😊
No boring explanations. Love your stuff man. 👍
Love you're videos Andy.... Great Show !!😂❤❤❤❤
Chase a different squirrel..!! 🤣🤣 love it
Oh my, the new safety Andy...looking at working load limits and such...thinking Andy going to pull it till something breaks
I'm glad the dinosaur was standing in front of the license plate, I'd never pick that truck out in a crowd :)😁
🤣🤣🤣 fair point
GRK screws are awesome! Make life much easier. Well worth the money.
The weekend warriors should gain a lot of information about rigging. Good job.

Why not put the battery box/cutoff switch on the frame of the trailer and free up the trailer deck space?
Because then I'd need longer cables to account for the vertical movement of the trailer. I figured the winch is taking up space up front too, might as well simplify things
@@andyslittlehomestead6705 oh ya, forgot that it's a tilt deck...even though I just saw it tilt. Carryon.

Run the 12v from the trailer plug to the battery. Charge it up going down the road
This. This is exactly how I would wire up customers trailer batteries. Just make sure the wiring is good, or you may be hunting a blown fuse. 😂
Bingo and smart ones don't over charge or drain the main unit.
To which i say shut up
Probably the most relatable thing youve ever said
Great video
I used to run a fishing boat between Hawaii and American Samoa, when we crossed the equator the toilet would get confused.
Damn it Tim
Great video!
Thanks!
I love your videos.

Luv u Buddy. Let ER wobble!!!
Get one of the hoist square things with the rollers on all sides.
Fair lead
@@johnwilliams294 yes, a fairlead! I couldn’t think of what they were called. Thanks
Straya 🤘
Badlands has stepped up there game
Their bigger winches are a bit better.
No winch likes abuse though😂 and folding over the cable till the control box snaps off is probably abuse 😂😂😂
Speaking of the reverse effects of the coriolis effect, be careful about the possibility of the cable winding backwards on the spool.
Andy i don t commet often but just a dumb thought on of those solar chargers harbor freight sells and set it on the trailer when not in use should keep that battery charged right up there
Low voltage is a real killer of those whinch's...
best to keep the jumper cables hooked up all the time
Probably be hard to get hear in New Zealand what's the brand name of hat ... love ya videos just moved onto a couple hectares iv already got to say let her wobble a few time's ...love it
i dont remember Tim. but he looks like someone id party with
winch looks awesome
Tim is Mit in Aussy language. I had to look in a mirror to make sure that wasn't a photo of me. Could be related.
I do remember Tim…..and his little baby truck
🤣🤣🤣

Hi Tim!
Yea us Aussies are a bit backwards but still love the content haha thanks Andy
👍
👌
Where did you purchase the Carbon Winch? I’m not finding it for sale. I can find info on it but no sales?
First time to your channel. Just wondering if you have a natural slur or is that from day drinking? Or am I chasing the wrong squirrels again? Lol good show!
You should give the rigging class to my foreman’s 😂
I actually could have gone way farther into it than I did. That would have put everyone to sleep though. Lol
Nice.
When did you get the Great Pyrenees?
2 things boss one i suggest a covee of some sort for the winch itself. That synthetic line hates uv light. And itll destroy it over time. Second how long till you rip the boat battery box off? 😂
I'm sure it won't be long.... lol
While it's common for men to lie about the size of their log, Mike is a rare one that understates the size...
I got a rigging certificate....great and a n point... The weakest link of a set of rigging sets the bar for the rest of it
Ya front wheels need balancing Andy 😂😂🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺 all the way from Victoria Australia 🇦🇺 🤣
You think maybe the shut off should be in front the battery box out the way from being stepped on or ran over by anyone or anything?
Where in the USA did you find this winch?
Duel charge!
When you get the dodge?
Ive heard the song in the background before, anyone got a name? Also, Hi andy!
Weather will deteriate that cable, cover it up when it sits for a period.
What do they call people who work with cranes where you live?
I'm in Australia, they call them dogmen or riggers, depending on level of qualification and job role.
See the dodge isn’t fixed yet , but it seems not being fixed is as good as your normal half assed fix.
Australians aren't backwards, we upside down
We aren’t back to front we are just upside down😬
SYNTH ropes are the best invention in winching, short of the actual winch 😂
I have OCD & ADHD. Means everything has to be perfect but not for very long! 🤪🤪
I think my Mrs has the same😂
You are funny but I like funny.
When your not using the winch you should cover the winch rope to protect it from the UVs....... or don't.
I came here to say this.
I love your videos and short editing style. If I didn't read you quit drinking I'd swear you were drunk constantly with the accent and the way your vocals slur.
That's the North Carolina accent. I have a lot of friends from NC.... They sound like that too. 😁❤️
@@AY-vc5dg Oh ok. I didn't know that. Thanks.
Someone remind me just how many Chitvrolets Andy has and how none of them are drivable, yet that old dodge is still going even after he tried murdering it by wrecking it.. 😁
I mean... he hasnt been abusing the dodge like the chevys yet... 😂 give the man time he'll get to it
You should put a fairlead in front of that winch. It will last longer and help with the winding of that rope. Get the type with the 4 rollers.
Not for synth rope. You want the hawse lead for those. The rollers risk pinching the synth rope and cutting it
That's the same winch as harbor freight makes by the same Chinese manufactor, ZHME
Well that's disappointing. We'll see if I can break it. Lol
That is incorrect. Nothing to do with that factory at all.
#7 on the like
Sorry....how did you know I was nodding off?
It's 2024. Most people are. Smhwlmao
I thought because it's a Australian winch it was going to go down under the trailer.......
Just keep the sun off of the winch rop
Strap was 3300lbs, when new. Just saying.
You sound a little bit like my ex.. what are these "instructions" you speak of.. 😁
Can't have too much explanation of things, or too much Tim.
I think you need a bigger hat ,you're cutting the circulation off to some key points. Why would you mount anything to the deck. The next video will be moving the battery to avoid smashing it.
The reason it works better is because it works in Metric 😂
