When my hubby buys new tires, he always ask for them to load up the old tires into his vehicle. He then gives them to people who need better tires than the ones they have. He’s one of the good guys. He has never forgotten where we started. You always bring reality to the forefront. Thank you!!
It doesn't matter how good or bad of a day I'm having. When I check my phone and there's a notification that Andy's little homestead posted a new video, I drop what I'm doing, because it's gonna a good video 🥰
Good job Andy! Your channel of far more entertaining and informative than the "homesteaders" with all high dollar equipment that most of us can't afford.
You're missing a couple really useful tools. A gas forge and an anvil. I was gonna buy a new tire iron the other day and they wanted $50 for a small whimpy one. So I fired up the forge and made a good set of irons in about 30 minutes. Made my own forge a year ago for about $100 and half a days work, best tool I've ever had
Tip for putting tire back on rim. Clamp vice grips on the rim instead of trying to hold it down with a hammer. This frees up your other hand to hold on to a second pry bar(tire spoon for the rich folks out there).
For those that don't have a harbor freight tire machine a farm jack works just as good if not better to unseat the bead. 2 pry bars will work the tire off the rim without a tire machine. Nice to have one though and great video.
I put my time in with one of them during my teen years. That's what we had at the junkyard. If we had a buyer or you needed tires. This was it. Alot of hard work and even more cuss words. I absolutely refuse to use one now but never forgot about the struggles.
Only tip I got for you andy is if you're already at harbor frieght getting the tire mounter you should also get a Schrader valve remover so you can pull the centers out of the valve stems completely. Then you never run into not draining enough air! Love your videos! God bless!
I've always had to use a bead breaker wedge you swing like a sledge into the bead. Gets really fun when you have a particularly stubborn bead. Or you miss the bead and almost hit your shin. Keep up the good work Andy, love your videos.
Not that you're going to be doing that again soon, but use a large pair of locking jaw pliers clamped to the lip of the rim. It's the same idea as your hammer, but it will not fall off (like your hammer)
Love the 700 and above credit score advice. Anyone ever try debeading and mounting a 15 inch motorcycle tire? It's bru...tal! Another good video Andy. Thank you.
"I'm new poor, not old poor." Best line ever. It's true though, when you've done it a while, you have workarounds for not having money. Made me laugh though. God bless you. I'm in the process of doing this, though i did get some cut rate tires online. I switch out one at a time (and use the spare on that spot) and drive it down to get it balanced, replace it, and do the next.
Good attitude keeps the low scorers industrious and out thinking the high scorers. I prefer a bead breaker maul because I used to fix flats on my Mack dumptruck and bigger tractor tires. One hit on a small tire is all it takes if your eyeballs are calibrated. Did all my work with rim and tire on the ground with a 24" tire spoon and 36" tire tool. Take care.
You can also use transmission fluid smeared around a rim of the tire...as for the balancing of the tire I'm a retired truck driver and us poor truck drivers would use golf balls... now they might be too much for your little tires... but it worked for us...hey you live on the edge anyway lol...as always love your videos 😊
My dad once tried to re-inflate a flat wheel barrow tire (on a plastic rim) with spray deodorant and fire. Long story short, the whole rim blew into peices and almost sent us to the hospital. Fun times
Hey Andy. I have a 93 Dodge D150 LE and had to replace a tire like you did because I let it wobble too long, lol. Love the videos keep them coming. God Bless.
I have that exact same tire machine. It worked wonderful the first couple tires, and then the bead breaker tool bent. So I welded a plate across the arms and it works wonderful again
I own the same harbor freight tire taker offer, I use it to pop dem beads , but when it comes to mount and dismount , I find it way easier to do it with tire on the ground ( concrete ) . Also HF sells a bubble balancer and the stick on weights. Balancer works great as long as rim isn’t deep set . Hope this helps, God Bless …. Love your content , been watching since day one. 😉
Loved the video mate iff y'all need a solid place to bolt the tyre changer down I reckon y'all could bolt it to a dead tree stump near your shed keep smiling doing a great job
You could balance them pretty easy by sticking them on a horizontal shaft and seeing if the heaviest point sinks to the bottom. We do it on small aircraft with a similar set up except it has bearings. Another method we use is a rod that goes from the bottom of the tire up, and inside that rod is a string. When you have the tire, the heaviest point will sink, and this the string will touch the hollow rod on the side of that makes sense. They're both methods of static balancing, similar to bubble balancing.
Yep been there done that! ‘cept I didn’t have the HF tire changer I used the old hammer method, ruined a brand new tire that way too! Called it a valuable lesson!
You got a fancy setup there. I pop the bead by running over the tire with another shit box. Then I use a series of pry bars crowbars to change the tire
Your persistence and motivation is admirable. Long ago in the army, one time we had to manually change all the jeep tires, which had the added fun of inner tubes. It was sold as good "combat environment" training. Never again! I think the reality was the supply officer had lucked into a stash of NOS tires but didn't have any pull with anyone with a tire machine, lol.
I have this same manual tire machine it’s great to be able to mount or dismount tires by yourself. I just use semi truck tire irons I broke that chinese harbor freight bar it comes with a long time ago
Second vehicle does wonders on breaking the beads down . Of corse let the air out and just run over the tire itself not the we . Tractor bucket or a mud jack and your bumper will do too. Gotta work with what ya got !
The 2 tire irons for 10bux at HF are well worth the small costs, and a decent pair of vise grips clamped to the wheel rim help to hold the bead from jumping out once its down as youbwork your way around with the tire irons...
Dollar store dish soap is great for lubing beads while remounting tires. Won't lift dirt, but has just enough weinerschliden to get the tire on the rim.
Hey Andy A C-Clamp instead of you hammer will save you time and energy while mounting your tire on the rim. You will always find a better use for your hammer. By the way have you ever notice the higher the credit score, the lower the common sense. my reason for that statement is I have always had common sense, but their have been a few times I forgot too use it. And being poor it took me 60 years too get a 770 credit score. that says a lot. Good luck Brother.
Excuse me I'm way over 700 and I use a highlift and tire irons to change the 35" on my f150 so there's that.. 😂 nice video brother 👌🏼 the key is little bites with the irons when mounting and dismounting..
Mixup, one part ATF and two parts diesel and squirt it around the beat of the tire. Let it sit for a few minutes and there you have what we like to call bead breaker.
Got the same problem on my 76 ford. Need to get me some 16 inch rims cause hell with the price of 16.5 inch tires. Only thing under 250 i could get were bias ply trailer tires lolLuckily i got 6 that hold air
Haven't changed tires like this in a while but it's like riding a bike hard to forget haha. If ya want a real challenge though try changing it with the rim still on the truck.
A couple cups of antifreeze works great to balance tires. A slurry mixture of antifreeze and shredded newspaper works great as tire sealant for low speed tubeless implement tires that you don't care if they wobble a bit. Had a forklift tire that we were pumping up 3 times a day that I tried this on and didn't put air in for three weeks, and then I ran over a piece of steel and put a fist sized hole in it and nothing could have fixed it.
2nd time watching and still wondering why you didn't hook up your air compressor to it while you set the fire to set the bead? Always enjoy your work! OH, broke compressor, Nevermind LOL.
Now you can put a small rock on that valve core stem. Remove air cap put pebble on the inside of cap then screw the cap back on. Should air down the tire in about 4 hours
Dude I finally figured out why I love your Vids and your personality...your hank hill lmao 🤣 your the fuckin king of the hill ...I'll tell you hwhat ...
I have a a air compressor you can have... 110v not harbor freight i think 25 gallon ... or do you need a electric motor for your’s i have a 240v electric motor laying around .... do you have a fastenall near by ? probably would be the best method for me to ship it
If you can find a tube that is the same diameter as the center of your wheel (or find a way to rig up an old hub) you can balance your own tires. Put the setup on jack stands, level it out, then spin the tire. Wherever it stops is the heavy side, so put a weight dead center of the top. Not perfect, but good enough
When I first bought a used HF tire machine I was sad over not having a concrete pad to bolt it to until I remembered that I had a small steel deck trailer and a welder and you can guess my solution. It’s now a mobile tire swapping machine 😂
I did tires for 15 years (not proud of it but it fed the fam). 2 bars tire on the ground and its almost as fast as the time lapse vid with your machine. 800 credit score wouldve removed the nut from the valve stem and pushed the stem into the tire 😉
So, I have some unsolicited advice for you Andy regarding the slipping hammer while trying to put your tire back on the rim. Put some vice grips on that rim and then start trying to seat that tire all around. It won’t slip and slide like that hammer. ‘Remember, if the women don’t find you attractive, they should at least find you handy’ - Red Green.
When my hubby buys new tires, he always ask for them to load up the old tires into his vehicle. He then gives them to people who need better tires than the ones they have. He’s one of the good guys. He has never forgotten where we started. You always bring reality to the forefront. Thank you!!

“Like you, your Compressor is broke.” Hahaha! You’re the best! God bless! :)
My fav thing about tire changes is the explosion resetting the bead. Love the content Andy!
For those that don't have a harbor freight tire machine a farm jack works just as good if not better to unseat the bead. 2 pry bars will work the tire off the rim without a tire machine. Nice to have one though and great video.
Bottle jack under the hitch of the truck has done it for me! Not as nicely as this fine machine, but it worked
Ah, the joys of changing tires by hand ✋ it's always fun and remind you of muscles you seldom use 😂 great video, Let er wobble 👍✌️🇺🇲
Love you man! I’ve passed 23 years with the military and you are living the life I wish I could.
I put my time in with one of them during my teen years. That's what we had at the junkyard. If we had a buyer or you needed tires. This was it. Alot of hard work and even more cuss words. I absolutely refuse to use one now but never forgot about the struggles.
The old new new old bit was priceless.
Only tip I got for you andy is if you're already at harbor frieght getting the tire mounter you should also get a Schrader valve remover so you can pull the centers out of the valve stems completely. Then you never run into not draining enough air! Love your videos! God bless!

Love the poor man's
content Andy. You still need a skid steer, love you and good bless!

So happy that you returned to TH-cam because for various reasons I don’t want to be on FB anymore…
Good attitude keeps the low scorers industrious and out thinking the high scorers. I prefer a bead breaker maul because I used to fix flats on my Mack dumptruck and bigger tractor tires. Very good information.
And I have a feeling there is about to be alot more new poor people so us old poor people will need to help them out
I actually LOL'd when you said "I must've spat on it too much"
My dad once tried to re-inflate a flat wheel barrow tire (on a plastic rim) with spray deodorant and fire. Long story short, the whole rim blew into peices and almost sent us to the hospital. Fun times
I can tell you talk like I do from the way you spelled wheel-barrel. 😂 That’s how it’s pronounced. Hope alls well with ya bud.
I bet ANDY is so happy his crappy truck doesnt still have the factory plastic rims on it, lmao....
Im so glad to see you easily adapt to the new old platform and keep giving us pearls of wisdom and giggles. Love ya brother
Hey Andy. I have a 93 Dodge D150 LE and had to replace a tire like you did because I let it wobble too long, lol. Love the videos keep them coming. God Bless.
We used to stick a pebble in the valve stem and didn’t have to wait around for the tire to deflate.
Some how Andy I dont see my wife letting me set the bead that way...lol. As always enjoyed the video. Thanks for sharing.
I have that exact same tire machine. It worked wonderful the first couple tires, and then the bead breaker tool bent. So I welded a plate across the arms and it works wonderful again
Used to work at a tire shop. Pneumatic machines are awesome. I now use a slide hammer and the ground. I’ve changed a lot of tires for the same reason.
Love the new poor, not old poor. Laughed so hard. Your great

I had the same experience about 6 months ago I'm glad you shared.

Tweezers work well to remove valve stems in a pinch, also had 2 topless bottles of tire slime when I figured this out lol
You can easily remove / install the valve core with a small flat blade screwdriver
HAPPY DAY! New video, with a great voice.
You got a fancy setup there. I pop the bead by running over the tire with another shit box. Then I use a series of pry bars crowbars to change the tire

This is how I use the semi truck tire irons to dismount a tire ^
Get this man to a million subs, keep doing the videos as there great!! 🇬🇧 🇬🇧 🇬🇧
Yes!!!! Andy i funken love Ur videos u help alot my man
Second vehicle does wonders on breaking the beads down . Of corse let the air out and just run over the tire itself not the we . Tractor bucket or a mud jack and your bumper will do too. Gotta work with what ya got !
Air soft bbs work like balancing beads there charts for how much weight on line 16 are like an 1 ounce
The 2 tire irons for 10bux at HF are well worth the small costs, and a decent pair of vise grips clamped to the wheel rim help to hold the bead from jumping out once its down as youbwork your way around with the tire irons...
Semi-pro tip, you can if you want use a pair of vice grips instead of the hammer. I’ve done that with little trailer tires works well.
This is brilliant! 🔥 I think Hobo Freight also sells a cheap manual balancer. But I don’t know how well they work. Great job man!
I'm in Kalamazoo, the local tire shop wanted $87 to replace a trailer tire off the trailer, bought one of the HF changers and bolted it to a pallet.
9:55 too funny. I laughed so hard. Thank you Andy for keeping it real.
Dollar store dish soap is great for lubing beads while remounting tires. Won't lift dirt, but has just enough weinerschliden to get the tire on the rim.
Hey Andy, instead of a concrete slab, what about bolting it to a stump, with all the cutting you do, I'd think you may have one or ten...
I love your explanations and your attitude. Pretty sure I won’t be changing my tires any time soon, but great information just the same!
A splitting maul and 2 semi tire bars work great
Use a small set of vise grips on the rim to hold the tire from going around and around
You can also drive a vehicle on the tire to brake it down or is a front bucket from a tractor or backhoe to brake the bead.
Andy, ditch the claw hammer and use a vice grip to hold the tire in place on the rim.
I welded a square tubing to the changer. So I could slide it in the truck receiver to stop spinning.. no cement pad needed
Excuse me I'm way over 700 and I use a highlift and tire irons to change the 35" on my f150 so there's that.. 😂 nice video brother 👌🏼 the key is little bites with the irons when mounting and dismounting..
You can get a bubble balancer stand at harbor freight to
“I’m new poor not old poor… that’s priceless 😂😂😂
Use vice grips on rim edge to hold bead
Don’t wanna brag but im a small engines mechanic with a 700+ credit score 😂. So I guess I’m the small percentage over 659 that loves ur channel 😂😂
Used to use a bobby pin to remove the valve stem thingy.💖
If you want to do a quick and easy balance at home, balance beads are also a good option.
I bolted mine to a couple pieces of plank around 3' long. I stand on the planks as I work the tires off.
This shit hits home harder than ATF with a warrant.
Haven't changed tires like this in a while but it's like riding a bike hard to forget haha. If ya want a real challenge though try changing it with the rim still on the truck.
Have you ever tried the gulf ball method to balance tires?
150 doll hairs got me. Ty for the laughs!
Glass beads smaller than marbles kinda like bird shot hand full thrown into tire when driving the beads will somehow balance the rim & tire ...
A couple cups of antifreeze works great to balance tires.

I love the home alone reference A, 2 and D, :🤣🤣🤣
As a fellow broke guy vice grips work great to hold the tire
😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤ good job Andy I love your video , and thanks for the thousand laughs. And those divorce women they can change their own tires.
Andy. Next time instead of a hammer. Use a pair of vice grips with a rag to keep from slipping etc. works better then a hammer ;)
Vice grips in stead of hammer 🔨 for putting bead back on. Big saver.
dang... that was extra extra spicy bro lol
We used to break split rims by dropping the lift on them and bang!
lag bolt it to the trailer deck, works beautifully
Your gas stations actually have the air chuck?
I have a a air compressor you can have... 110v not harbor freight i think 25 gallon ... or do you need a electric motor for your’s i have a 240v electric motor laying around .... do you have a fastenall near by ? probably would be the best method for me to ship it

Great video!
You can get a bubble balancer cheap. That some weights and a hammer is all you need.
Good job
I have done 20" rims. That 20 is easier than the 10-19". The bubble Ballenger is awsome. Just put a few brainchild into it.
So, I have some unsolicited advice for you Andy regarding the slipping hammer while trying to put your tire back on the rim. Put some vice grips on that rim and then start trying to seat that tire all around. It won’t slip and slide like that hammer.
