I thought the same thing. Terrible game after terrible game I just kept thinking "I thought this would have been the worst game." before the next one reminded me of all the other, even shittier games. Man, what a year!

It is pretty hilarious seeing Jim shit on Fallout 76 (rightfully to be fair), when he around 2010 was shitting on people that hated Fallout 3 for destroying the franchise. Fallout 3 pretty much did the same 76 did: changed gameplay to a crappy FPS, raped the lore with bullshit like BoS and Super Mutants in the East Coasts, and the writing and RPG elements got dumbed down extremely hard. And yet he gave a pass to Fallout 3 for some reason, and used sales as an actual argument as to why the game was good.

The Quiet Man is horrible to start with, but it becomes stupider once you get access to the voice packs. Apparently, the detective dude IS the main character's dad. He resents the main character for getting the mom killed, so he found a woman who looked exactly like her and was desperate to disappear because her singing career was going too well and convinced her to become the main character's girlfriend so that she could get fake kidnapped and the blame put on the main character's best friend Taye. Oh, and the plague bird thing is the dad dressed up as it based on a drawing the main character did as a kid.
Oh, and in the end, the main character and his dad reconcile and lived happily ever after.

I told my nephew to avoid Fallout 76 cos it sucks. He didn't disagree, but said he would still get it as it's reduced in price and believes Bethesda will fix it - the naivety of youth.....

This runs deeper than I thought.
The Culling 2 wasn't just a failure. It was a failure so bad that they apologized and said they'd get back to working on the original and reverting many of the changes that drove players away in the first place.
It's common to hear about shitty games, but it's rare to hear about games that were so shitty they were pulled and destroyed completely shortly after launch.
At least the developers seem like a decent bunch. After they sobered up and saw what they released during their drunken binge, they cleaned up their mess.
like bifi said, at least they fessed up and refunded. Most companies would just leave it there and write it off hoping some incompetents would still buy it occasionally

@ Keith Nowak Yeah seen 3 reviewers pass over 76 for The Quiet Man but the latter is really irrelevant, nobody gave it a single fuck to begin with.
Beth took an established and much loved franchise and seemingly set out to destroy their very brand and achieved that in less than 2 months. 76 is without doubt the biggest clusterfuck this year.
It's going to be VERY interesting to see the sales numbers on Starbound, I'm predicting at least a 10-20% drop off in first week sales over 76.
Fallout 76 is the most cursed game I've ever seen, and Bethesda's continued hilarious incompetence is absolutely baffling. I've never seen a dumpsterfire of this scale before, and it just keeps going. It's like a train that caught fire and it can't be stopped, and every time you think it's gotten as bad as it could reasonably be allowed to get, it somehow gets even worse.
Personally I call Fallout 76 the anti-Midas - everything it touches turns to shit.

Its funny, some games on this list i remember more for what happened AROUND the game and not for how bad the game was.
MG Survive i remember more for how it was the first MG game without Hideo Kojima after Konami went off the deep end, Hunt Down the Freeman was notable for how it showed that Valve doesn't give a shit WAY more than we originally thought they didn't, and as far as im concerned Fallout 76 was just a way for Bethesda to go about doing every shitty thing they possibly could on a literal bi-weekly basis to make things worse.
Yes, the Biweekly Bethesda Debacle has really harmed their relation with the public, and the amount of good will lost among their core fan base is insane.
On a side note, super hyped for Obsidian and what they do :)

As someone who enjoys shitty games (but not too shitty) I have a tradition of playing Jim's #10 shittiest game of the year, every year. Considering how bad things were this year, I'm glad MG Survive was it. It's just about the only one I think I'll be able to enjoy out of this year's lineup.
Jimmy here showed gamplay from the first 3 hours. didnt even play online missions. Plus, all his complaints about that game can be easily debunked. Smh.

Bitter end to an oddly bitter year. Some cool shit for sure but 2018 had this air of bleakness that in order to enjoy yourself you needed to try and detach yourself. Even with entertainment it felt like a chore to just be happy.

I really wished that game was going to be good but wasn't expecting shit with Cliffy. Just a shame because I was a huge Super Smash TV fan on the SNES and loved the cheesy 80s gameshow theme theme.

I personally would have switched Fallout 76 and The Quiet Man. Sure The Quiet Man is a horrid, pretentious game, but Fallout 76 had controversies, lied about the canvas bag, had microtransactions, issued broken patches, destroyed key elements of a Fallout game, had horribly buggy graphics, had game breaking bugs, had terrible PR problems, actually had a budget to make something of high quality but instead turned out to be what it was, and was proudly advertised it as a polished innovative game even after launch.

so you havnt played it but feel qualified to regurgitate other people's shit. I have put 500 hours into the game and I can tell you from plenty of experience that although there are bugs, none of them are game breaking or nearly as bad as made out to be. The game can be played solo and plays very much like Fallout 4. The story is better played solo and methodical. Spending time to read, explore and listen will uncover a great story line that doesn't lock you into story telling scenes allowing you to continue at your own pace. There is so much diversity when it comes to builds that it can become confusing but putting the time in to understand entails great results. It is fun to play with friends and the little PVP that is done is exhilarating as it's not against your standard AI. There you have heard something good, now go rent it so you can use your own brain and own experience to write something that sheep - like yourself - may also regurgitate. Was fallout 76 buggy at one point, yes very much, but it hasn't been for a while now.

And if I have to put +30 hours into a game and ONLY THEN will I begin to enjoy it, then it's a poor game. Bethesda has been shown to have lied about the game with controversy after controversy. I've hated the direction these big budget games have gone for a long time now. My fears and reservations have only been proven true. Call me a regurgitator all you want but when most of the internet has called the game shit, I'm inclined to believe it. I don't need to have played a game to know when a game has been shipped broken and based on lies from the company. It's my choice as to whether or not I want to play it. But I didn't even like the concept for the game once it was revealed to be online only. I've got my opinion of the game since I've followed the whole controversy since its launch. The whole ship it broke and fix it later is bullshit and is too ripe for abuse. If you like it fine. Enjoy it. Have fun. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. But I've got my opinion too.

The people defending FO 76 all keep saying, "It's better with other people. If you play alone, of course it's going to be boring" The vast majority of the footage I've seen of one person coming across another in game, that person just turns around, walks away and acts like you don't exist. Plus I forgot most of everything on this list came out this year.

Basically my ArmA 3 experience. Its the most fun I had, but they always manage to violate the geneva convention in every single mission. And most of the mission ends with failure or an entire squad KIA. Like letting a Suicide bomber through the checkpoint, bring a Apache with hellfire ordinance to a Hostage mission (needless to say, Hostage K.I.A), bringing a XM25 Grenade launcher to a CQC combat zone (Yes, Friendly fire is on) or using Napalm in every raids.
Sometimes I question the sanity of my squadmates.
It's like saying that getting fucked with a cactus is more fun with friends.

Didn't the Culling 2 bomb so hard and so badly that the dev said that he'd not only take down the game and give refunds, they were going to revert majority of the changes to the first game to move it back to how people liked it?
Can tell there were a few takes of him singing Country Roads in the skeleton mask as Skeletor and he didn't make it without laughing because he almost cracked at the end of the take they did use lol

Radical Heights could have been great. We made this game so you could rip on it, tear it down, make fun of us, have a laugh at our expense. Their ideas were a little too old for the "I'm here for the memes" crowd, but it could have worked.
@@Motleyguts I think the big problem with Radical Heights, other than being yet another online multiplayer game competing in a very crowded market. Was it was far too tame. It should of gone all out with the silly game show tie in. Treat it like a fake twitch stream and get more points the happier the audience is. Chain kills get you points, killing enemies with a different weapon each kill. The more extravagant the kill the better.
You should of been impaling people with flaming Flamingos or suffocating them with super sticky gumball launchers.
@@JustaGuy_Gaming Right off the bat, the player character was too muscular. Can't identify with that, but I disagree that its a crowded market. There's billions of dollars ready to be taken by one, or cut up between several competing titles. You don't have to earn billions a year to be considered successful. This mode hasn't come close to maturing yet. I hope at least 10 more spring up so everyone can find one they like. I'd play your version, but I'd also play others too. ;)

2018 was such a bad year I think Jim needed the top 20, or 25 worst games of the year, even without counting Steam games.
At least we got Rdr2 and GoW4 this year. Spiderman was good to. That's about it though.
Even then, these 3 games were masterpieces.

Because the industry has changed.
The Indie scene has muscled in on AAA turf. AAA games have had a reputation for blandness for years, and the Indie scene has been what pushed innovation.
But now AAA publishers have the reputation of not even blandness, unplayability and incompetence.
But the industry is more competetive and there are dozens of small, lean, hungry studios eager to steal the market away from the big names that used to dominate it.

I don't think Jim does the editing, I think Jim writes the scripts, films them, gets the footage and then Justin is the one who cobbles everything together over the audio, not 100% on that but I've seen him make jokes about Justin editing shit into the video before.

Filmed this before Atlas came out? I was honestly expecting to see it. Good list anyway, though. I had totally forgotten about everyone dumping on The Quiet Man - ALMOST makes me want to try it to see how bad it is for myself, but not for $20 CDN.
Pretty sure this list only counted full releases, not early access, and I know for a fact that it was including games that launched their full releases FROM early access this year, despite coming out on early access prior to 2018, since We Happy Few was there.
ATLAS is good, and is in early access. the people who complain about it, have either not played it, or don't have good enough computers to run it smoothly.

God damn it!! When I'm playing the Binding of Isaac while watching your wonderful videos I do so with the music turned off. It's VERY confusing when you use that same music in the background of your videos. I literally spent 15 minutes fiddling with my in game settings only to realize the music is in your video, lol.

Actually, Dynasty Warriors 9 was so graphically unoptimized, you couldn’t play it on a high-end PC for the longest time. I bought it when it released on Steam and couldn’t play it on the lowest settings for the longest time; I would only pass a single frame every five seconds. *My rig exceeded the game’s recommended specs.*
It was only recently after DW9 went free-to-play (aka Trial Mode) was I able to play it with high settings in most places. I can forgive the open world of DW9 after playing Fallout 76, but the dumbing down of DW6’s combat and the homogenization of fighting styles is still unforgivable.
The combat isn't as dumbed down as you claim, in fact you can do some pretty awesome combos, but it's a moot point.

J G I picked up the trial edition and have been running it with Zhurong, (my new favorite. Seriously, she looks and performs amazing.) I’m being honest when I say it’s been dumbed down; most enemies have been taken down by the Charge Attack button being queued the moment a foe exposes a blind spot or has been whittled down enough. I took down Shu officers accidentally when I was aiming for this pittance of an Assault Officer.

fallout 76. painfully obvious to see they no longer care about making games.
no longer excited about any game coming out of bethesda. No longer excited for elder scrolls 6, or starfield, or any other game.

The cracks were clear with Fallout 4, they clearly weren't giving a shit a long time ago. Fallout 4 really isn't that much of a great game without mods, vanilla is just really boring. Not to mention the plethora of bugs that broke the immersion, mods would fix them though because of Bethesda's lazy ass. Now 76 has dropped. Now you can't do the one thing that made the fallout games hella fun, mod them. Online only horseshit, with no NPCs, bugs galore, and no mods to compensate. But it's okay though guys! At least the one thing that does actually work in this game is the atom shop! I'm so glad Bethesda gave me 500 atoms which is only enough to buy like a few pip boy skins because of my lack of a canvas bag when I spent $200 on the power armor edition!
