not just testing it (chuds in the lfg discord will """"""test"""""" the gun and compare it to the columnus by shooting a mutant in the back and pretending its a valid test, autoguns just inherently have more damage v maniac than lasguns) but like understanding WHAT ITS GOOD AT
I agree with you about infernus but have you considered the substantial power bonus that comes from how cool it is to light things on fire with lasers?
It's like tagging but without binding tag to M1 or actually pressing the tag button! But no, I actually need the better visibility because getting old (I think).
The brown recon actualy fires two ammunitions instead of one for the other two recons. Generaly it doesn't matter for your total ammo pool but it makes clip deplete faster. I mainly use the blue recon with psyker because all of the crits make me basicaly invulnerable against shooters of all kind
Yes, with the faster rate blue recon can make you even tank the boss with gun psyker build. If you build with assail with venting. You can just refill your whole thoughness within 2 second once you press attack.
I appreciate the way you think about the mechanics. I suck, and want to get better. I’d rather someone tell it to me straight than keep trying to put a square peg in a round hole completely convinced I’m a genius.
You got a lot of good insights and I've learned a lot from you, but why do you have to put so much salt in every video? It's really making me cringe now and I can't get past it any longer I think...

He's incredible at the game, but he's incredible because he no-life plays this game all day with a foot pedal and a MMO mouse. And he's also a furry lol.
I put infernus on a laspistol because i saw telopots do it but the burn ticks were awful. Telopots knows how to make optimized builds but doesn't and doesn't need to cuz he gets max damage every game regardless :p
Following the patch notes about Shock Trooper being fixed I was, out of curiosity, testing the Recon Lasguns yesterday, assuming Dumdum and Headhunter to be optimal. Weirdly I got most consistent high dps on Mk6d with Infernus & Headhunter + Onslaught. Seems like the Recons' low weakspot and critical damage doesn't benefit as much from Dumdum, even with Onslaught, and the burn damage improving with the brittleness armor pen is superior. It's quite odd but out of the three marks the 6d with this setup was the most consistent one, especially on Dreg Ragers. Feel free to test it further.
@@bentuovila5296 tested a bit more: 1. Dumdum seems bugged giving only about 20% increase. 2. Mk6d with full crit and blessings gets to max burn stacks almost instantaneously. 3. Onslaught is about 40% damage increase on Flak and Maniac. 4. Mk7 is about 20% behind Mk6d in raw dps and doesn't benefit from instant full burn and quick brittleness. Mk2 is even worse.
Also, because the recon lasguns have like no recoil whatsoever, it's super easy to hold the gun trained on boss' weakspot. Yes, even easier than an autogun, literally just point, click and hold...
I do still find VId to be a good variant. Yeah sure VIIa is often the better choice but VId works with infernus and onslaught way better and I've managed ho make my VId really ammo efficient as well. Just maximize your crit potential with VId and have survivalist and shock trooper and headhunter and fully loaded
With the right build, "Infernus IV" adds around 360-400 dps against special and elite ennemies respectively and around 800 dps against unyielding targets when you use that "shitty" blue Recon Lasgun. With Unyielding dmg and a combat stims, you can get around 1300 extra DpS with "Infernus IV" alone and it helps with ammo economy when fighting those bigger targets. If you get the critical chance traits around the Sharpshooter tree and the stamina recovery from "Focus Target", the stamina consumption from "Deadshot" isn't much of an issue and you can also use that quirk to power up melee weapons with "All or nothing" to get satisfying results.
It's a nice general purpose weapon. I used to run it before I found my true love the ageipina mkvii braced autogun. I will say there are times where I need to hit a target at range and I miss the recon las but overall I tend to enjoy the braced autogun better.
What do you think about using deadshot on Recon and autoguns ?. Ive seen some people mention how strong it can be but i just fail to see how you can manage your stamina with these fast firing weapons. Even with stuff like duck and dive +ranged immunity perks
Depends on which one you’re using, blue is easily out of the question but the others preform pretty well, note I tend to take 2 +3 stam curios but otherwise no complaints
For the brown recon it works okay, for the others forget about it. You just hipfire most of the time and save ADS for when you really need it. Honestly though, I've tried every las weapon and the two laspistols seem to be better for the whole crit shocktrooper thing than any recon or infantry lasgun, and it's not even close.
So the blue one is a ammo chewer, the brown one is a headshot monster. What about the mk2. How would you recomend getting the most out of the green machine?
I tried this (same weapon setup except with crit and weakspot perks) with execution stance, the ads perk, marksman focus KS, and +20% HS power on ability use, to try and pack out the crit/weakspot dam buffs to stupid levels (probs overkill TBH). Was good fun and worked surprisingly well. But, counter intuitively, I found it was no good for horde clear - too ammo inefficient in that scenario. I think I have also concocted a stealth build that you MAY find acceptable.
Every time I hear him sale MALESTORM I keep thinking about that song, It's raining men. It's maelstrom, not malestorm. Man goes through 1000% deep dives and reverse engineers the code, but won't take a moment and read. Maelstrom means chaotic or hectic, something that's terrifyingly frantic. Kinda fits no?
Maelstrom is akshually the name used in some norther EU countries for dangerous sea whirpools and such. You can read the famous Edgar Allan Poe's tale 'The Maelstrom', speaks about one such things.
I LOVE the recon lasgun VId even if its bad LMAO I just use it on lower difficulty runs. I use stripped down and dumdum, and have only a little bit of ammo issues by using shock trooper and survivalist. You said not to use onslaught with these to kill armored targets but I use it for the VId and can pretty much have it applied instantly like an autogun would because it fires so fast. I think of it as a worse autogun worse lasgun but more fun.
Hmm I just got into this gun on my vet. I've got deathspitter/dumdum and (5%crit/8% to elites) on my VIIa but otherwise threw up the same talent points. I've messed wih krak grenades and coverig fire as well, but learned late as a vet that zealots and ogryns have their own toughness regen in combat, so switched back to frags for the extra point later. VIIa also penetrates unarmored and poxwalkers, making it effective vs an approaching horde. Don't believe the other recons do this. When grouped with vets with blue recons I notice I have more kill power and ammo efficiency. I play random quickplays so haven't really compared builds.

Ehhhhh i dont like marksmans focus voc is alot more helpful. And they suck so bad vs armor even with onslaught id rather spent the points making it vetter vs everything else
@@TannerLindberg i see your point about onslaught. As for VoC, you are talking about Executioners Stance. I meant the 4th keystone on the left, Marksman Focus. MF is used on all enemies, while focus target needs to recharge and tag mobs one by one. Seems more useful, its why i asked.
Stop it with these videos! You're ruining my memes! When I run Recon and do just fine, everyone thinks I'm special! Now they'll just realize it's the gun, not me ;p
You should know by now it's all semantics. The Darktide reddit is full of people arguing about points they actually mostly agree on just because they don't like the language the other person has used to describe something. When most people say a gun sucks it's because comparatively speaking it does, whereas in isolation it's probably fine and completely viable. For some people a gun that sucks is one that's 5/10 whilst for another it's 2/10 just because of how they interpret the word. For others if you have a list of guns and 5 of 10 of the guns are a solid 8/10 and one is a 6/10 that gun sucks to them; and they're not technically wrong, but it does make for a really boring discourse arguing about context.
Yeah but it being "viable " with just the right build and good aim doesn't mean much. In that scenario a autogun or infantry lasgun couldve done much better guaranteed. Recons still underperforms and aren't very satisfying to use . If people don't call it trash then the devs won't give it the proper buff it needs .
Pretty much the same as my testing...Yeah, dismiss the guns that are better and yeah its good. Personally am not going to ignore them, and still think it sucks. Weapons like these are great in the Psykanium, but then you actually queue into a clutch-or-die lobby and will be thinking, why didnt I take revolver, plasma, bolt, or autogun.
When you say "the shitty blue one", you mean the one MARK that has the highest rate of fire? Now that the game is different, you mean "don't use the one that has 'torrent' trait and use the other mark that has highest damage of Recon'?
there is ALOT that got changed with these since this video came out. the biggest issue with them before was the blue one would burn through ammo so fast it wasnt really usebale since you'd be with out ammo for a very long time.
I fuckin' knew the VIIa was the best recon lasgun. I used it all the time on my gun psyker even before the first skill tree rework and it mulched elites.

Yes but its not like it wasnt working full stop anyway, just that for the 6d i think it shoots too fast for the internal cool down for shock trooper
