You can use items to focus on just a single ability in your kit or your gun or even just melee. Other mobas somewhat do this too, but it's really limited to AP vs AD, meaning you either go abilities or autos. There's also games that arbitrarily limit you into only being able to use half the items in the shop (this from the geniuses that developed Smite). I heard about this game but didn't look into it much. Saw this video and watched it. Tomorrow I will be downloading and can't wait to forget about grass. Great video!
Not gonna lie, was *not* expecting you to cover this game. No idea why, but this was a pleasant surprise. I'm glad this game has been getting more and more exposure to the general public over the past several months. I was very much in that same crowd of people that misunderstood what the game was upon first seeing the leaks. Wasn't even even planning on playing this game at the time, especially being an old TF2 fan, myself. Almost 400hrs into Deadlock, and I'm really glad to have been proven wrong about this game. As always, what a well edited video on your part, and a really good summarization of the game as a whole. Always love seeing your take on things, honestly. (Especially your first-time experiences with TF2). That being said, I'd love to point out a few things: 1) 18:49 - All of the weapons in this game (so far) are actually projectile-based. There are no hitscan weapons in this game. The only technical exception would be Bebop's weapon, but even that has some simulated "travel time" so that it doesn't instantly do damage (and no I'm not referring to the windup time prior to shooting; there's an actual delay between when the laser appears and when it actually starts doing damage on an enemy, funny enough). It's designed this way partly to help with soul denial. Hitscan weapons for soul denial would be a nightmare to deal with, if put up against a player who has objectively faster aiming than you. That being said, I understand that this video is meant to mostly summarize both the game overall, as well as your general thoughts, so I acknowledge that you probably already know this and have to "lie"/skim over things a bit for the sake of simplification. I realize this is a very nitpicky thing to point out, but I find it fun to discuss things ofc 😄 2) I know this video is a mixture of older and much more recent gameplay footage (which you point out ofc), but something I've been seeing a lot of (that I've been guilty of, myself, when I was first starting out) is not utilizing the sliding mechanic. I did like your section touching up on the movement, but we gotta give sliding some more love, brother haha 😄. Just like wall jumping, sliding costs no stamina bars. It also allows you to spend *no ammo* while shooting. This is *insanely* useful tech, especially when chasing down enemies. I can't tell you how many times I would spam dash while chasing someone, only to then completely drop a perfectly free kill because I had to reload as well as wait for my stamina to reset. Sliding after dashing is always more cost efficient than simply spamming dash. As an example, dashing and then sliding will take you the same distance, in fairly the same travel time, as two back-to-back dashes. This is especially useful for characters like McGinnis, who only starts off with 2 stamina bars by default. We're only touching the surface here, ofc. You could do a dash-jump, slide, quickly jump again, and then finish off with another slide to travel about 45 to 50m at the cost of only 2 stamina bars. If you were to only use dashes, it would take around 4 to 5 back-to-back dashes to travel that same distance of around 45 to 50m. That's an insane stamina cost difference. So spread the word: *give sliding some more love*. It is core to the movement, and more people should make it a habit to use it after almost every dash 😄 (Also, side note, have you ever streamed this game? If not, I'd honestly love to watch. I've been having weird, non-internet relate, rubberbanding issues these latest couple of patches. I know a lot of people don't find *watching* Deadlock fun, but I'd been completely down to just watch you play while I wait for these issues to fix in the meantime)
@@jacewhite8540 Exactly. Even if the tutorial in Deadlock is more than likely placeholder, I really do think that it skims/brushes over really crucial information. They show off the sliding mechanic, sure. But it's honestly done in a way that's like "Oh yeah, btw you can slide, just fyi. So anyways..." 😆
This video is so fucking god-tier, I never played this game but this video game me a full comperhensive and exhaustive overview of what this game is about while being insanely entertaining, good job man, this was really well put together.
The thing that made TF2 so good as a team class-based shooter is that each character is pretty much self-sustainable and do not require teammates to actually play them (well, except Medic, who has a dedicated role). You wanna play as a team and support each other to neutralise the weaknesses of the classes you play? Great, you're gonna rock! Wanna play solo and get the highest score in the lobby? Go on, your character's weaknesses will not hold you from that! Here it's practically the same. Characters have synergies, but all of them can also be played solo, greatly reducing the pressure on each player by practically allowing everyone to play the game, be good and have fun in a way they want. Also, because the teamplay is not hard required, every cool synergy and even just healing moments will be way more special. Not "you healed only 9999 of my hp instead of 10000! Unacceptable!", but "oh my god you saved my life... You're my bro forever".
This is the reason why valve is still one of the best in the gaming industry and why they stay at the top. They just made an entirely new ip and already it’s being showered in praise and everyone is talking about it. And it’s actually good.
I think a huge point that is forgotten in a lot of these DeadLock review videos is the personality of the characters. Each character has unique voicelines not just for their abilities (which change based on your health) but to how they interact with other heroes on the battlefield. Lash is a famous one mainly cause he is the 'asshole'. The majority of the cast hates him and it shows whenever you kill him, or he kills you. The SHOPKEEPER for crying out loud has different voicelines for each and every hero whenever you buy something. Valve does an amazing job at bringing out not just the power, but the FEELING of what the hero is going through in this battle to summon the patron.
Really well put together vid. summarises why I love playing the game despite being on a 15 match losing streak and getting dunked on for 11 hours straight
I am 15 hours into a game that hasn't even been announced officially yet. It is filling that hole in my heart that Super Monday Night Combat left. Also I am one of those weirdos who like Battleborne
Stay with it I've never played a Moba and I was horrible the first 20 hours. The biggest best advice I got was stay behind you minions, master 1 character, farm if you are low in souls
The beauty about moba is a playstyle you like will work with the array of items you buy. So play around what playstyle you identify with and build and play your characters that way. Example you always lose on teamfights and confuse the shit out of you then stay back and farm and become a beast late game.
I would suggest trying to search some guides and builds and then just focus on the farm to get some key items. Just use every ability to farm and move around fast. It's hard for those who have never played mobas to get this feeling of how important farm and its efficiency is. With time you'll learn what items allow you to engage and when you can engage and you'll learn how to farm efficiently moving across the map without being afk for your team. Once you've farmed enough you feel the power and this feeling makes you enjoy the game. And don't underestimate active items!
Small note: there is actually sprinting. It's just automatic and doesn't have a "wind down" for when you need to shoot. It helps you move around quickly without spending stamina, but you really *really* won't see it unless you buy sprint items or use Haze's invis. Look for animation changes, like when McGinnis pulls her gun up or when bebop starts pumping his arms. That's the sprint kicking in
Deadlock and marvel rivals are goku and vegeta doing the fusion dance to style on overwatch 2s grave while blizzard and Bobby boy do a soyjack face in the background:)
Everyone also has to keep in mind that this game is a MOBA-shooter tho. I've seen many new players get turned off by the game because they either play the game like a regular hero-shooter or MOBA and get destroyed. The game isn't just that or a hybrid, It's like 2 things combined(and more)! It has so many things you need to learn just to play it but trust me. It's worth it! I have zero MOBA experience and had my butt spanked by Abrams for 20 hrs before even getting to understanding the basics but so far this is the most fun online pvp game I played since tf2 days when it's used to get updates. AND THE GAME IS STILL IN ALPHA! Great vids! Love the game! Hope everyone enjoys it too!
Kelski talking about this revolutionary new game that mixes mobas with hero shooters: 😊 People who remember Monday Night Combat: 🤨 I just miss it so much bro.
23:31 It feels like there is so much thought and care put into every single ability that can hard CC. There is counterplay to every single one of them, every hero can counter hard CC with positioning/movement, no items necessary.
Tell that to all the people whining about how "CC is unfun" dude just pretend you're in an anime fight where everyone is overpowered. Those fights are cool because of the mind games, the same applies to Dota and Deadlock.

Deadlock has healed my lack of shooter moba woes quite nicely.
Bro I've been waiting since Super Monday Night Combat
deadlock is trash. the guns are trash and denying runs the moba part. it's autistic pve farming while pretending to be a teamfight oriented fps game.

no, overwatch did. almost noone tried to copy tf2s formula the 9 years it existed before overwatch and so nothing actually plays like tf2 to this day
LOL no they didn't. TF2 is barely a "hero" shooter, and they didn't even make the original TF.
1:07 You are sentenced to the hydraulic press.
That being said, I'd love to point out a few things:
1) 18:49 - All of the weapons in this game (so far) are actually projectile-based. I realize this is a very nitpicky thing to point out, but I find it fun to discuss things ofc 😄
2) I know this video is a mixture of older and much more recent gameplay footage (which you point out ofc), but something I've been seeing a lot of (that I've been guilty of, myself, when I was first starting out) is not utilizing the sliding mechanic.
It is core to the movement, and more people should make it a habit to use it after almost every dash 😄
(Also, side note, have you ever streamed this game? If not, I'd honestly love to watch. I've been having weird, non-internet relate, rubberbanding issues these latest couple of patches. I know a lot of people don't find *watching* Deadlock fun, but I'd been completely down to just watch you play while I wait for these issues to fix in the meantime)
Lol I noticed the sliding thing to man, it's was bugging me. Now I literally can't not slide after dashing, and adding a bunny hop in there
@@jacewhite8540 Exactly.

@@Emin0_ based emin keeps being based
How was your defloration
Escaping also feels in Dota2 very rewarding, I love that feeling so much

I’ll be covering this aspect in part 2:)
Vindicta says "There's that arrogant ASSHOLE!" and it cracks me up everytime LOL.

Dude I’m so trash at this game. I’m having hard time actually enjoying it but I be watching videos on it like I’m the biggest fan
@@greatgongo3772 Definitely a big learning curve, but it’s so worth learning it!
That is totally reasonable, moba games have a steep learning curve and it also relies on your shooting skills as well.
22:29 “you can summon a Hawk tuah blitterate your enemies” the internet has ruined my brain
22:30 I heard you say "summon a spirit hawk tuah bliterate your enemies"
Small note: there is actually sprinting. It's just automatic and doesn't have a "wind down" for when you need to shoot. It helps you move around quickly without spending stamina, but you really *really* won't see it unless you buy sprint items or use Haze's invis. Look for animation changes, like when McGinnis pulls her gun up or when bebop starts pumping his arms. That's the sprint kicking in
You can also see your speed at the left side of the screen increase when you run for more than 5 seconds or more

Tried, didn't like it, hated the movement/shooting. Friends don't like it either after trying it. Midlock should've been a spiritual TF3 rather than a spiritual DOTA 3. I predict that, like DOTA 2 it will make Valve a lot of money, but ultimately not impact culture to nearly the extent that other Valve properties have.
