Well well... Thank you! I just built a pergola over my patio and I also just bought a Weber Kettle. This project will pull the whole thing together. And congratulations on the baby! I am looking forward to watching the kid grow and learn to use tools, Very exciting! We're expecting our first grandchild in August and I want him to really like visiting because Grandpa builds neat stuff.

Linn, thanks for the project idea, tutorial and cut list. This project is easy, down to Earth and very affordable. I built this same thing just this past weekend and it turned out great. In the process of staining and applying the clear coat right now. I opted for two stationary casters and two swivel casters instead. Also, considering a strip of some galvanized flashing on the inside of the hole to insulate the kettle from the bare wood. Had a couple of places smolder on the "maiden voyage." My Weber is 20 years old and does not have the newer ashcan design underneath, it had the small aluminum saucer that suspended within the tripod. I kept the tripod and cut the three legs down to 8" with a hack saw and then bolted them into place within the holders underneath the grill. This solved the problem of what to do with the ashpan. It's a great looking table and gives the old grill a new lease on life! Thanks again for the inspiration.
***UPDATE***
After three uses the wood has started to smolder in places where it is directly touching the grill. Especially if the fire is built on one side of the grill and the wood is directly against that side. I have had to re-think this and install a couple of angle brackets allowing adequate airflow between the wood table and the hot metal of the grill. I also went ahead and lined the inside of the hole with some high heat insulation designed for smokers and grills. Hope this does the trick.
Ah, see this is what my immediate concern was. Great idea to update the design to allow for heat dissipation from the grill!

Congratulations on the baby. How exciting!! Love the Weber charcoal grill and have used a 22 inch one for over 30 years. Friends think I'm a great at grilling - well between you and me...it's the grill! Great project. Don't ever let me start the charcoal for you. Every once in a while I overload the chimney starter and get a super hot fire that might just scorch that beautiful cart.

Congratulations, Lin! And I like the table. I have the Weber Performer that includes the table from the factory and it gives a bit more workspace, but I like the look of the wood better and it certainly seems sturdier.

Congratulations! I used a galvanized bucket as an ash catcher under my Weber grill. There is also a hook on the inside of the lid so it will hang from that cleat you attached without slipping off. keep up the great work, and many congratulations again.

That Bottom tray for coal dust collection, you could aleays use a medium sized terracotta pot under it should be about the right size, cool looking cart too 👌😄😎
