    I see so many guides online for wooden grill carts, which feels a little dangerous for use with a grill. Your version is awesome!

      Thank you. I use it all the time and it has held up well. I did a refresh on it about a year ago and repainted it and put 4 large casters on it instead of just two wheels and now it rolls around so easy and the weight of it isn't a factor anymore. I also may add a small "wing" to the left of the grill one day as I'm still always looking for a place to put the lid and grates when lighting it but it's not that big of a deal so I haven't done that part yet. Anyway thanks for checking out the video. The expanded metal top doesn't get hot at all. Some people have asked about that. JD

      Still working great. I had to repaint it and I removed the wheels and welded on 4 casters to make it roll. It's heavy and the casters work so much better to move this thing around. One of my most used things I've built. JD

      Jose thank you and good luck with the project, it is one of my most used things I have ever made and everyone loves it that sees it. I tell you if I ever built another one, I probably would have done two things different. First, I wouldn't have used the wheels as I've never moved it from its' place on the deck. Second, I would have used much thinner steel to construct it, it's a bit on the heavy side. Wouldn't change anything else though and I'm still using the same magnets I originally purchased when it was built. Thanks for the feedback and look forward to seeing your completed project. JD

    Really like this cart. Well designed and constructed. Ever thought about putting wood, cutting board or some other type of cutting surface on the top between the kettle and the cooler? May help with food prep. Either way I'd love to have one of these for my Weber Kettle Grill. I don't have a welder so I'll probably build mine with wood. But I really like some of your ideas, especially the hook for the lid, which I may include in my cart. Again, great job on the cart.

    Hey. I want plans. I think someplace to store your tools dry and charcoal as well as fluids but I'm thinking dimond plate and ceder wood.
    A nice finnish would be a custom cover for storage like a cheap tarp from harbor freight durring storms and winter.

    • @JDOffline
      @JDOffline  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Never had or made any plans as I kinda custom made it as I went. There are three total videos and the first two are pretty detailed on the build. I bought a generic cover from amazon to throw over it when not in use so I didn't really need a dry storage area (unless you don't put the cover on and it rains!!). A tarp would work well also I'm sure. JD

    How did the paint hold out by the kettle heat-wise? I am restoring an ss performer and would like a paint that doesn't attract fingerprints as the high heat does. By the way that is an awesome kettle cart and a nice design.

    • @JDOffline
      @JDOffline  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Other than weathering from being outside the paint has held up great. The expanded metal works well and does not get hot and I've had no issues with the paint even the "ring" of metal I put around where the grill contacts the grill cart has held up well. I did put a lot of coats of both primer and black paint on when I painted it. Thanks for the shout out, I will tell you this is probably one of the best things I've ever made. It gets a lot of use and you have plenty of room to cook with it. So far, I haven't moved it around at all so if I was to do it again, I probably wouldn't have added the wheels. But, nice to know they are there in case I want to move it. Thanks for the questions/comments.

      @@JDOffline i would estimate somewhere between $200-400 or so. I don't know your material and labor costs are. But I think adding the YETI, greatly adds value and your customer base. YETI customers have a bit more income. Also, I would sell the whole unit with the grill, and maybe a cooler - all in one. The big problem will be the shipping. You might need to consider a unit where you can put the base, top, and legs together in a flat pack box

      Haha thanks for the comment. Most used item I've ever built! Holding up well.

      @@rodomg3505 Thanks! I can tell you if I ever built another one for myself, I would have left off the wheels as I've literally never moved it. I also probably would have used some thinner gauge steel to keep the weight down but other than that, no regrets!! Appreciate the feedback. JD

      Hard to say with how prices are now. The expanded metal is expensive for sure and it took a lot of spray paint to paint it. I build this years ago before all the prices went crazy. JD
