  • The Toyota Aygo boasts lots of customisation and standout looks, but lacks the turbocharged punch of its rivals.
In this in-depth Toyota Aygo review, we look at the car’s rear seat space, boot space, standard equipment and what it’s like to drive.
Can it compete with the VW Up, SEAT Mii and Skoda Citigo? Parkers Deputy Reviews Editor Adam Binnie is your guide…

I have a 2014 toyota Aygo (1.0 3 cylinder engine) with just over 50,000 miles. Its been diagnosed by toyota as using between 0.8 a 1 litre of oil per 1000 miles (tested twice so far). Toyota says its within their specification and they will not investigate unless its 1ml over 1 litre per 1000 miles... For those that didn't know, this is stated in your toyota handbook and its what you agreed to when you purchased the vehicle from toyota or its within toyota warranty !!!

If you listen closely to you may be hearing cylinder slap. This is due to worn piston rings. The 1.0 and 1.33 engines produced both suffer with oil consumption problems. The oil which is supposed to lubricate the engine falls through the cylinder past the outer bore of the piston and eventually travels out through the exhaust. It's usually why you see no sign of oil leakage. The oil can sputter out or burns off through the exhaust.
At later stages it can damage pre and post cat oxygen sensors. It can also damage the catalytic converter. Don't let them take you for a mug. Toyota know this is a very common issue. My uncle is a lead technician for toyota. Lack of lubrication can seize up your engine (very costly). Worn piston rings need to be replaced or the piston rings will eventually wear down the cylinder.

I think he could be been sarcastic about that. I took a second rewind to hear it again. I don't even think a car could safely weight 67kg, it'd blow away in a wind haha.

The engine weights 67kg, not the damn car 😒.
