You were doing everything right----speaking softly and not being aggressive----- Great animals. I have one that comes around occasionally and I feed him/her--- :)
They get plenty of that here, trust me. One of the joeys from last summer has a pouch full of her own joeys now. She isn't quite as used to me as her mother, but she's getting there.
We have a few possum that make the rounds here. They eat leftover birdseed each night, and occasional treats I put out just for them. I left the lid off of the bin the birdseed is in one day, and the next morning there was a possum having a late night snack head first with his butt sticking out the top!
Pretty little Marsupial. Just rescued orphan & thanks to TH-cam, I found how to care & figure out her sex. She fit in my hand. A possum can eat up to 5000 ticks per season, mice, snakes & more bugs
This possum has been coming around for over a year now. She has had at least one litter of joeys, and four of them have been hanging around for the last month or two. She bit me on the face in September while I was removing a paper plate from her "Safe Spot," which is the spot where she is in the video. There were a few raccoons in the area shortly before she bit me, and I think she thought that's what I was. I got the rabies vaccine to be safe, at a cost of $10,000.
@@medfoto1 Holy smoke, what a story. That's serious $$ involved and glad to see your response. I've been bitten a few times by them, mostly out of a moment's carelessness. Overall, I began to think there was something medicinal in their saliva, wounds healed quickly though I don't recommend getting bitten, don't think an lol is really appropriate with that... . I now live in a mobile home park and they wander through, take a few bites of cat kibble and move on. Previously, I lived in the Ozarks and got to interact with them in a more relaxed environment. It was very rewarding. You've probably done homework about them. I'll add that how they devise their territories is not easy to pin down but to have a female whose settled there is quite a blessing, perhaps dependent on the area able to support her. They mark their areas with excretions as well as scent glands and they can get pretty fussy with other opossums coming into them. What a fine little gal she must be.
@@snaxgalore5764 They can still get rabies, it's just highly unlikely. I've seen videos of people with rabies, it's a terrible disease, and it's incurable. I would rather be safe than sorry. The VA paid the bill.
Nice! What was it that she was eating? I have a huge male and medium size female that eat off my porch every night and then i have a video camera set up in my garage where they nest. I got to pet them both although they weren't thrilled about it, they tolerated it. Very soft and lovable creatures that mean no harm at all. I also hope they have little Joey's this spring time.
happy opossum
Soooooo Adorable❤❤
I just LOVE Possums❤❤❤
She's adorable, thank you for being nice and feeding her. She must be comfortable with you to sit and eat so happily. Sweet baby she is 💖
How could anyone not think they are so adorable ❤ Thank you for being so kind to the so misunderstood opossum 🥰
I have a friendly opossum too named Hans. Hans loves to eat cat food, fruits, turkey and chicken. He is adorable and makes me smile

I love my friends opossum 🐀🦨my guy loves applesauce with bugs
Very sweet.
They need all the love and respect they can get from humans, because mother nature sure worked them over!!!

Big smacker smile
These dudes get such a bad rep. They are the hyenas of the western world. I like them.
Possums and snakes are both very misunderstood here in the states.
They are marsupials like kangaroos. 😁

One of this possums' daughters has a pouch full of joeys right now.
Awwwww hes a cutie pie! What's him munching on?
Looks like bits of apple and or banana.
Bananna
Hehehe❤😮
I think the "pest" designation is fading, thank goodness!!
You must have a good vibration, nice video. Generally, they get a bit spooked with us talking but this one didn't.

@@medfoto1 dude whattttttt. You spent 10k on a rabies shot even though they can’t get rabies?

I don't know if RooRoo evacuated. She better did. Fort Lauderdale should be ok.
Didn't know one could film with a cordless drill
Now you know. It's a Fujifilm S1 cordless drill and hammer combo.
🥰She is so cute . She even lets You pet her . Did she ever get Joeys ?🤗
She had three litters of joeys in the two and a half years she was here.
@@medfoto1 🤗 That is so beautiful !❤ Are still some of her babies or grandchildren around 😍
What is that food? Cheese?

I gave her some string cheese that I cut into possum -size pieces.
@@medfoto1 she sure seemed to love it. I will have to try that!
Nice video, but dang that's the loudest zoom lens ever.😳
...and you felt you just HAD to mention it to complain.
Go away, Eeyore. You're nowhere near as kewl as you pretend.
