You are a beautiful human being! Thank you for saving this little baby. I hope their doing well. Not sure how long they live but hopefully it's nice and healthy🙂👍
I just ended up with a baby opossum. My dog tried to kill it, and then my ever so loving family threw it in the garbage and said it would die one way or another. So I dug it out, and I've been smuggling it with me to work and hiding it in my car when I'm home. Even though its tried to bite me a few times, it's still a THOUSAND times nicer than any other animal I've dealt with, including feral 3 week old kittens, baby chicks, I've even had meaner rabbits. The only thing this critter has tried to do is defend itself from the strange giant that brings food and water. I hope more people make videos like this, it's really hard to find care videos for opossums.
Opossums get a bad rap. They don’t get rabies, they are not mean, only when confronted. And they are so soft to touch. I personally love then, same as I do all animals!
Barb, You are a True Animal LOVER, not hating on another animal cuz of the way they behave, look, smell, attack, etc !! If we are going to care & Love Animals? It has to be ALL of Them ......not just SOME!! Love Your Comment 💝 💓 😍
I'm not sure whether to envy your baby if s/he has pet opossums from day one or pity her because they only live about three years, but it will be an enriching experience for hir!
She is gorgeous and smart. Was she able to be released into the wild or did you keep her? I hope she had a long life. Thank you for loving and caring for her.
Just googled, he was pretty meat-averse. So those of us who have eaten chickens should not cast the first stone (against O'Possums) why is there an O there btw
How sweet! Brings back memories. Many years ago my son and his friend came across a possum accident. The kits survived and the boys each brought one home to care for. We named him Knuckles. The little sweetie drank from an eye dropper for about a week, then graduated to canned cat food. He slept in a towel tucked in our armpits. The two kids and I had Real nurturing to do until he was a sturdy tot. He became a beautiful adult with a loving personality. He was our Putin’s Possum.

Hi there, love the video. Mom and rescued an injured opossum last night. Maybe a broken front left arm or worse? We are trying to get professional help for him quickly but no one has responded to our emails or phone calls. We haven’t got a clue how to help him now, that he is safely indoors, in my enclosed shower. We would really, really appreciate any advice you can offer to us. We really want to help him if possible. Thank you very, very much. Gianni & Mamma from Maryland 🙂👋🏼
We don't have them in the UK, which is a good, thing, because of the close proximity to roads, anywhere you live. I was sad to read that they only live 2-2.5 years. it would break my heart to raise such an adorable creature only to have it die so early.
Truly precious. I at this moment have a mama with 9 babies at that age. They are just starting to venture out and lick some watermelon and yogurt . What's the best gruel to mix up ?
My husband and I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this video...not sure why it popped up in my suggestions but it's great. We adore wildlife! I have a couple videos posted to my oen channel of my raccoons....... What state are you in June?
Since I found out I have opossums and skunks living under my decks I have been watching a bunch of videos on them! Learning what I can. I'm afraid I will be seeing babies run around my yard this spring! As much as I would love seeing that, I dread seeing it in the city! I feed the guys now with winter coming up, but should I? I know that will keep them around, but I can't help my self! I know how hard the winter is on any animal in the city. I use to feed stray cats, but there doesn't seem to be very many anymore. Beside I have neighbors that help out with the cats now. I use to rescue the cats, and find homes for the babies. But what do I do if the Opossums have babies? They are wild and the laws are not the same as cats.
If the critters outside are with mum, they are ok. If you see a juvenile opossum without it’s mom and he or she is less than 7 inches long (nose to tail) it needs to be taken to a rehabber.
At what point can the babies be readied for release or does the imprinting preclude such. In your case, do you plan to release? If not, how would you manage things differently so this baby can be safely release with the high probability of success possible?
