- My guest this week is MBT, the man, the myth, the legend - Politico-acknowledeged Yugituber, Guy-Who-Is-Chronically-Correct on Twitter, and for some reason named after the 18th best deck in Modern! He played SNAP for like five hours at global release, so it's time to basically blow his mind with all the cool stuff we've gotten since then!
Note: He can see my screen, which is how she sees the cards, but not my face - I'm not giving anything away by reacting early.

just a wish, i think it would be really cool to have a segment at the very end where after the "pro" has learned a bit about marvel snap you throw the next card to release at them, and have them speculate on if it is going to be good, would be a fun experiment to see if they end up being right, and might make the video "live a bit longer" if u know what i mean?

Another thing to note about Omega red is that you only need to be winning by 1 point to win the location, so by winning by 10, you are effectively wasting 9 power to gain 8 power on the other locations, which is still a net negative.
So hype that you got MBT on here! Love it!

12:59 Something you didn’t clearly explain is that Lockjaw swaps them after triggering their battle cries and then triggers the new card battle cry, so you can think of Lockjaw as a Brann for On Reveal decks.
For the record, I feel like this interaction should not work the way it does.
I think one thing that never quite gets articulated when I see people analyzing why Omega Red is bad is that his effect doesn't even really give 8 points when you turn it on. It gives -1 points, because it costs overcommitting by 9 points on a lane you're already wining. Ms. marvel, on the other hand, lets you turn on extra power in the other lanes by adding power to those lanes naturally. It works with itself, where Omega Red works against itself.

Man I love MBT. I’m glad you had him on. I haven’t watched any of his stuff since master duel got me playing Yugioh again. But then the Snappening happened and this is my only game now haha

Still think it would be cool if you had a comic book expert rate if the card is a good representation of the actual character
If you didnt know, there is a channel on YT, The Nando Cut (side-channel of Nando v Movies), who has started a series doing just this, starting with the current Planet Hulk season.
Wouldnt say he is a super expert or anything, but definitely knows a lot more than the average person; his main thing is talking about superhero/comic films and shows, such as coming up with casting/story ideas for upcoming projects.
I mean this guy seems to understand comics
As a yugioh player, with no knowledge of thiss game, galactus feels like the litmus test

Okay I really thought mbt when asked about lockjaw would instantly say broken because of the ygo tearlaments meta which was the most insane meta ygo ever had and basically has a similar concept to lockjaw in a way especially gambling 😂
I dont play Yugioh like i used to but i still watch MBT here & there, i remember learning alot from him, i do play Master Duel sometimes but Snap is my main game, it's good to see him talk about it especially with you KM👍

MBT THE GOAT. Unsurprising that years of trying to make sense of how the hell YGO cards work primed him well for evaluating Snap cards. Hearing "missing the timing" again honestly gave me anxiety.

46:36 Missing the timing in Yugioh is that cards with conditional “when” effects can only be activated exactly after something happens. For example:
If Deadpool were a “when” effect, it would not trigger after being destroyed by Venom since the last thing that happened was that Venom gained its power.
But it would trigger if it was destroyed by Destroyer.

I've watched MBT for years at this point but never wanted to play YGO.
This one video, and Jeff!, has made me strongly think about trying Snap.
Great episode! MBT had some great insights.
One unique "advantage" YGO players have that other TCG players don't is that YGO teaches you very quickly that powerful card effects are king, and that stats are barely even an afterthought.

I would love to see a series where players of other card games must gues if a specific combo is good or bad. Maybe the guests from this series do a comeback. Would be pretty cool imo
I love that the miss marvel card uses the power of friendship in mechanics.
So, maybe the concept of Lockjaw is like Pendulum One/First Turn Kill (OTK/FTK) decks in Yugioh, where if the opportunity presents itself, you just get a win from the strat. All the other times you still play a decently capable deck that could still win an honest match
Tbh outside of PendMagicians and Danger! Darkworld, something like that is considered Jank in Yugioh.
A card that says "shuffle a card from your hand back into your deck, draw 1" would make angel a bit better

marvel snap has always been good at printing complicated cards with simple and easily interpretable text

I used to be a huge jerk and play in such a way that I cheat Galactus out turn 5 and then Turn 6 Knull while also usually having a Wolverine on the board somewhere. Good times lol

Martyr is such a weird card. If it can move, the stronger it is, the worse of a card it is. However if it can't move the stronger it is the stronger it gets. It's such a weird one
mine as well discuss variants in marvel snap to him , cuz the gameplay Is light compared to Yu-Gi-Oh gameplay and deck builds. The art makes the game cool but the numbers , effects and deck planning can be confusing for newcomers.
